This place definitely need some help. More staff in the kitchen. It took forever to receive outr order and it's all small plates/tapas.
The only person seemed to be working is poor bartender. He was taking foodorders, and making cocktails and ran the food tothe tables as well.... they did have waitresses but not sure what they were doing.
Food itsleft is okay.

hi - lovely experience all around, however when i placed the reservation we requested poolside, 'romantic' dining, which was an online option, but it turns out that is very out of date, as the pool area was closed. That was a disappointment. The hostess was not particularly aware of our reservation or the request (there were plenty of tables) and thought it odd to sit by the pool, and didn't seem to care about the mis-information or my disappointment.
We loved the food and service, and returned for more several days later.

I've been going to Zen Sai when in Miami for the past few years. While I still enjoyed my meal overall, this was the first time I was somewhat disappointed with some of the dishes. The mushroom medley used to be so amazing, a warm hearty delicious dish of stewed mushrooms. It was the first dish I would refer to when recommending Zen Sai. This time it was lackluster and didn't have much mushroom flavor at all. The second dish was the yellowtail jalapeno, I don't believe I've had it before. But the sauce was overbearing and the yellowtail was fishy. Yellowtail has such a soft delicate flavor and if fresh doesn't taste fishy at all. Even if the yellowtail had been fresh the overbearing sauce would have wiped out the smooth subtle fresh flavor of the yellowtail.

The bok choy was great. I didn't get how garbanzo would work in a spring roll, but I loved them even though I wasn't into the accompanying sauce. The Udon was so delicious. The ribeye with scallions and potato salad was also good.

We had lots of delicious cocktails with our meal as well.

All in all a couple of misfires but overall a very good meal... Zen Sai please get that mushroom dish back on track!!

Not going to lie when I first arrived I wasn't amazed, the restaurant didn't get my attention. I went because of Miami Spice so I was expecting a nicer place but I was not disappointed. We made reservations for 9pm, as soon as we arrived we were seated. It was happy hour plus with Miami Spice you receive a bottle of Prosecco. The food was amazing and super filling. The allow you to pick 4 items compared to the usual 3 at other Spice locations. Appetizer, Roll, Entree and desert. We each ordered different ones to try everything.Appetizers were SPICY ROCK SHRIMP, YELLOWTAIL JALAPEÑO and the MUSHROOM MEDLEY (My favorite one). For rolls we all did the South Beach roll which was different because it had fried chicken in it... i hadn't had that before but it was pretty good. For entree I was hoping to have the Pork belly but they didn't have anymore, I was bummed at first but I had the Organic Chicken and it was pretty good. My server was extremely helpful and attentive. She recommended we all get different items and share and I'm glad we did. Overall great experience, would definitely recommend.

Miami Spice's best value restaurant. Amazing sushi and even a bottle of Prosecco when both of us ordered the Spice menu. Four course dining and fantastic service for just $39/ person. Sushi was flavorful especially the jalapeño Yellowfin tuna. Great place to go!

I don't know why this place didn't have more customers. Perhaps because we had an early dinner, but based on the drink and food quality there should have been more people. Not far from the tourist traps but tons better. Would definitely go again if I was back in Miami.

Service was great and waiter was just awesome!! Waiter did a great job explaining everything on the menu. It was my birthday and I received a cake with a candle + song. I would definitely return when I come back to Miami.

We were staying at the Clevelander and were told about the discount for guests at this restaurant, so we decided to check it out. We were pleasantly surprised that even with the full on party happened steps away at the Clevelander, that this restaurant still maintained a somewhat quiet atmosphere in the outdoor space. We had a romantic dinner, and felt like we were in a completely different atmosphere than the partying of Clevelander. The food was great, but I wasn't impressed by my cocktail. Our waitress was knowledgeable about the menu and made great recommendations for what items to get. They are a tapas style restaurant, so we expected that we would need to buy several plates, but with the 3 items we got we were stuffed. I would definitely visit again if staying in the South Beach area.

Loved the pork belly - it melted in my mouth, the fried chicken sushi roll was delicious and the mushrooms were perfectly cooked. The covered outdoor seating was great for a mid-Feb night, complete with space heaters. Made a reservation for 6 at 9pm on a Friday night, but didn't need one. One of the wait staff was a bit annoying with trying to get us girls to the rooftop bar/club. We had plans, but whatever, we decided to kill 20 min and got a free $900 bottle of champagne and shots out of it. Sharing about 10-12 dishes with two bottles of wine and tips came out to about $50 per person.

Had a great outdoor dining area. Went here for dinner before going out to the clubs and it was perfect. They had delicious cocktails and the food was good. The rock shrimp tempura was great! We got other little plates of sushi which were good too. The ginger crème brulee was delicious, so happy our waitress suggested it. Service was a bit slow, but our waitress was very friendly. The amount of food was perfect and definitely did not feel overstuffed to go hit the clubs. I would definitely eat here again.

We went to Zen Sai with a 7:30 reservation on a Saturday night. From the start, it was less than impressive. Service was poor and the food was average.
First, we were seated and waited for ten minutes while servers walked back and forth but no one greeted us. As a former waitress, I know this is a bad sign, meaning disorganization at best and lackluster or poor service at worst...
Our server tried to be friendly when she was there, which was rarely. Did she have too many tables? Or was she texting in the back? We waited for almost everything, including the check.
The only thing we didn't wait for was the food, which came out too quickly! The classic rush them through so we can seat more people... disguised as "it's tapas style so we cover the table and it all gets cold" When we asked for only 4 dishes at a time (which covered the table already), we were treated like stupid children. My date had to be VERY forceful to stop the parade of dishes.
The food was average. Some nice flavor combos but nothing you can't get at a local sushi place.
This restaurant was rated 4.5 stars on Open Table. Just can't see it. Maybe a lot of out of towners who enjoyed the outside patio and had too many of the (good) drinks?
As for me, I selected this restaurant from Open Table and I was sorry. Never again.

The food was tasty and beautiful to look at. The cocktails were great as well. BUT, they charged us 200 dollars over. They went back a couple of times to fix it and kept making mistakes. They did give us free desert as an apology.

Given that we were a large group and that we were drinking, it just felt like they were adding those charges, thinking we wouldn't see it.
