Zen - Omni Orlando Resort at ChampionsGate Ratings and Reviews
I had the ginger steamed sea bass which was amazing! The fish tasted like butter. . It takes about 20 minutes to cook which I was glad they told me that in the beginning. I had the sautéed asparagus which also was amazing. The only complaint I had was the 9 oz pour of wine was more like 5 oz.
Zen is a wonderful spot with delicious, handmade sushi and a small ecletic menu. Every dish we had was full of flavor and served in full portions. We had two tasty orders of sushi, Californina Rolls and tempura shrimp. Very good! The ginger shrimp, seafood bird's nest and basil chicken are highly recommended. My son ordered the sweet and sour chicken from the kids menu and it was as large as our portions. Ask for Rudolph, he's a great waiter with knowledge of the menu and full of suggestions.
The food quality was excellent however the service from Jacob stole the show.
Having a pre dinner drink and a bottle of wine added to the cost of the evening being in excess of $200 before gratuity for 2 persons.
That said, I will be back as it's not often you get both food and service to match.
Well done Zen.
Food was delicious- we had sushi. Also enjoyed my mixed drink- champagne cobbler. Dessert was just OK. Waitress was fantastic. Greeter was awful. When we told her we had reservations, she told us they only had a high-top available. When asked if she could check again due to the reservation, she came back and said they were booked totally but she "found" us a table. Our gratitude turned into annoyance when we sat for dinner and more than 1/2 the restaurant was empty. It certainly wasn't booked and there was zero reason for trying to make us sit at an uncomfortable high top. It was very odd.
I made the reservation through OpenTable, and left a comment for the restaurant that I was taking my husband for his birthday. As soon as we were greeted by the hostess, she congratulated him. Then we were seated on a corner round table, which was a great spot for a cozy romantic dinner. Our server Luis acknowledged our reason to be there and offered my husband a complimentary dessert or drink, and then explained everything about the menu. We decided to have the Zen Experience... and a week later we still talking about how much we enjoyed it!
To our surprise, the Manager gave us on the house my glass of wine, my husband's very expensive whiskey, and his dessert.
This is a very high-end restaurant, and they delivered an top notch experience, surpassing our expectations.
Note: Parking will be validated. Ask for the blue ticket.
First table offered chairs were too low for table. Table came up to our chest. Moved to a booth, where the tables are that big you have to shout for your date to hear you.
Food, service and value were mediocre and wouldn't prompt a return visit.
Being a local and this being my first visit, I was expecting more and was disappointed.
We love this place. We always get the Zen experience, because we enjoy sampling all the foods. Plus, it is a lot of fun! The food is always fantastic and there is a great variety of plate options offered for the Zen experience - just bring your appetite. The staff have always been a pleasure as well.
The restaurant looked very nice inside, but there was no music at all, which I thought was strange. Especially since the restaurant was nearly empty. Our server was very attentive, and the food came out quickly. We had 2 sushi rolls, which were pretty basic. The Hunan dumplings were delicious though! We also had the Kung pao shrimp and scallops, and it was very flavorful. The scallops were kind of chewy though. Overall, I think it was way too expensive for the quality of food.
This is not a good choice for foodies. We tried over a dozen dishes on the Zen Experience menu and they were all disappointing. PF Chang, which isn't great, is far, far better. Each dish was overloaded with the same white or brown sauce made with too much corn starch, MSG and sugar. Everything was a gooey mess. If you come from a good food town, or are used to dining in great restaurants, you will be very disappointed.
Could not fault the food and service was good although a little rushed and haphazard at times. The waitress was very welcoming but very busy it seems. I was a little disappointed with customers varying dress codes, there were those, like my husband and I, that dressed appropriate to a fine dining code whilst others felt it ok to wear tee shirts and shorts. Children were also left unsupervised by their parents (not the fault of Omni) but I think there should be one restaurant within the resort for adult only dining - I have 4 children of my own so am no way being unfairly bias.
Service was terrific from the start. We were seated quickly. Service was prompt. Food was also great, tasty with plenty to eat. Waitress and waiter were extremely attentive. Food items were reasonably priced. Overall it was a pleasant surprise and experience.
We were meeting with friends who we haven't seen for quite some time and who had just arrived from the UK. They were first time visitors to the Omni and of course the Zen restaurant.
Before going into the restaurant we went to the lobby bar and had a drink. A conveniently positioned, quiet bar and great for a pre meal cocktail or two
Once in Zen, I can honestly say all four of us enjoyed the food on offer immensely and loved the fact we could order lots of reasonably priced dishes, so that we could try as much of the cuisine as possible. Our server was really cool and very patient with us considering we were continually forgetting to look at the menu due to too much catching up on all the gossip.
I would recommend Zen to all my friends as this is a great place to get together for all sorts of occasions, great food, great staff and comfortable surroundings...we will be back!!!
The menus contained several signature items which made a tough decision. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Our waitress took additional time to answer questions about the dishes and provide some really good descriptions. That made the decision harder because they all sounded good. Even though the table next to us contained a man who would not shut up about politics and was so loud he clearly wanted everyone around him to hear his opinion, we did enjoy the evening and did our best to ignore him. I think our waitress made up for it the best she could with her great service.
One another note, the pricing was definitely high overall. My wife and I eat at similar types of restaurants regularly and Zen would be on the very high end for price vs. value/ambiance/service/food quality.
The ambiance could have been the same for other genres of food with only a few changes to the decor, so nothing too unique there.
If I went back I would ask for the same waitress and a quite corner.
Celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary here and couldn't have found a better place to go! Starting with the bread & roast garlic to the calamari to the antipasto salad to the homemade gnocchi or the linguini with pan seared scallops it was one dish more delectable than the last! The coup de gras was the dessert made especially for my wife who loves Crème brûlée and it was not only unbelieveable in taste but the fact they went out of their way to make something not even on the menu!!!!! Again, don't hesitate to eat here as you will be rewarded with an exceptional meal!
