This restaurant never disappoints, they feature excellent and creative cuisine with fresh ingredients. Two people in the party opted for fruti de Mer which was a featured lobster, scallops,shrimp and mussels in a cream sauce over linguine. The other ordered veal with mushrooms in a cream sauce over linguine. Excellent bread, fine wine list. Excellent service.
We have had such good experiences here before. However this time the entire experience from knowledge of wait staff on menu, general service and quality of food was poor. Hope this isn’t a permanent change but given our experience not sure we will try again. We had a party of 6 and were the first people there so being busy could not have been a reason.
We have been there four or five times for business meals since I found the place last month. The food was excellent and is always top notch ...as is the service. Everyone is very friendly and helpful, parking is relatively easy on the street. This place was a great find and we will certainly be back. The only minor issue, the chairs are uncomfortable, the cushions are very thin with wooden rails underneath so it feels like you are sitting on wooden rails. I imagine management is not even really aware of it, because you wouldn't see it, you have to sit there for a few minutes before it begins to feel uncomfortable.
OMG why was the restaurant not filled on a Friday night? it was gorgeous; wait staff tremendous; and food was great. wine recommendation was spot on for three of us sharing a bottle, shrimp scampi and their seafood specials were out of this world. Everyone should try this especially for a special occasion but anytime to have a fine dining experience in local Herndon setting.
This restaurant was wonderful. We were a last minute reservation for a party of 10 and in a major rush to get back to our business conference. Not only was the food fabulous, the staff went out of their way to be quick, attentive and pleasant. Would definitely try this gem.
All five of us had great meals. The meals ordered were the salmon, shrimp scampi, and coupleother meals I can’t remember..But, our whole party of five was happy with their meals. The staff was attentive and special requests for food were honored quietly and professionally. For example, I had gelato for dessert and asked for some berries on top. The gelato came just as requested. Zefferillies staff really shines. The servers are so attentive to every detail, but unobtrusive. All in all, we always enjoy Zefferellis.
We fully enjoyed our dinner. We went there based on good reviews and my girlfriend's love of Italian food. It was her birthday. The staff was very attentive. The food was excellent. The atmosphere was quiet and enjoyable. The pricing was excellent. We will return.
My wife and I have been here numerous times and I have always left happy with the service and quality of the dishes. This time I left let down. My salad look like it came from a fast food restaurant and my main course was underwhelming. The service was very slow for a place that was only 50% occupied. We have had great meals in the past so I will be back to give it another try.
My wife and I ate here for our anniversary. We were long time patrons of Da Dominicos in Tysons because that was our go to romantic place to eat early in our marriage. Zeffirelli's is similar in their semi-formal seating and very romantic setting. The service was polite and solid, but nothing over the top. My wife had their 4-cheese ravioli with a switch-up to their marinara instead of the pesto sauce as listed on the menu. She finished her meal way before I came close to finishing mine. I had their famous veal chop.
The Veal Chop.... hmmm. I have to first throw out the caveat that as stated we are diners of Da Daminicos from way back in the mid '80s. I compare them to DD because the two restaurants are related and they now use the same recipe for their veal chop or it is really-really close. Straight up... I don't like the newer recipe. The chop is beautiful - cooked to a medium and a healthy size cut of meat. It is extremely tender. I don't like the way it is seasoned nor do I like it's accompanied sauce. Again, I am biased. The veal chop from DD back in the 80s and 90s was really to die for. Anyone that ate there then knows exactly what I am talking about. The veal chop from the old DD was crispy from the broiler and seasoned perfectly to just melt in your mouth. i have NO IDEA why someone changed to the new recipe. The price is the same... the portion is the same... but the flavor and taste is no where close and both DD and Ziffs.
We will go back there again and try some of their other dishes. Like I said my wife really liked her meal, but I won't ever spend $55 on a veal chop that is no where close to the GREAT veal chop that they used to serve and Da Daminicos.... I wished they had never changed it because it was worth $100 the old way.
It was an interesting place with old pictures of Herndon done up tastefully. The service was great, the lobster bisque and pasta with shrimp we ordered was yum. However, we ordered one of the specials of the day a fish ( cod I think) with crab meat and that was ok for a 35$ dish.
