Zeffirelli Ristorante Italiano Ratings and Reviews
Food was very good. Service was very responsive without being too attentive. Menu could have been more extensive, but otherwise adequate. The bread in the bread basket that arrived immediately was also very good. Location in the historic section of Herndon, Va. was nicely situated, and parking was convenient.
Zeffirelli's was exactly what you would hope and expect. A classy old-style Italian ambiance with well executed, well presented dishes. The service was attentive without being cloying. The evening was a pleasant no-fuss experience of relaxed dining with no unwelcome surprises.
We took our mothers here after taking the to a show at the Kennedy Center as both really enjoy Italian food. All the reviews we read give us the impression this was a good choice. The restaurant itself feels cramped, there was too many tables which makes it difficult to navigate with nudging someone in their chair. I can't imagine how the staff deal with it. Which leads me to the actual staffing. We saw 3 maybe 4 staff on the floor which explains why the service was so slow. There was a complete lack of attention to details, 3 people in out group didn't have wine but the glasses were left on the table. We ordered half portions of pasta dishes to try along with our main courses which came out after we had to remind the waiter.
This wasn't an over all experience I will repeat, it was ok but nothing about it neither the food nor the service said I want to come back. Maybe it was an off night for them but in this market you can't have off nights.
This is used to be a favorite spot for us. We arrived Saturday evening and were seated wedged in between several large boisterous groups. The dining room is small and if appears the restaurants has squeezed in additional tables and chairs. We waited for almost 15 minutes for the server to come and take our drink order. We waited equally as long for the same grumpy server to come take our food order. If the restaurant wants larger groups they should hire additional wait staff. In truth the ambience here has been lost.
Zeffirelli's has long been a go-to restaurant for our family. We have enjoyed many dinners there with friends while celebrating birthdays, as well as date-nights when we prefer to enjoy a quiet meal to ourselves. The veal chop is the best I've eaten, the drinks are consistently good, and the staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and mature. There are many options available when it comes to deciding where to eat out . . . Zeffirelli's is consistently at the top of our list when looking for this type of dinner experience.
The service was a little slow at first, but then it moved smoothly. It was Mother's Day. Also, no butter was brought with the bread but was then brought when requested. The bread was very very good! The food was excellent. We had the Branzino Zeffirelli and it was scrumptious . Also, the panna cotta for dessert was yummy. The presentation was spot on.
This was our third trip to Zeffirelli's for various special occasions over the years. As usual, it did not disappoint. The Italian seafood dishes were outstanding, featuring large, sweet lobster tail and enormous but flavorful scallops. Prices are a little on the high side but well worth every penny - especially for a special occasion where you don't mind splurging a bit. The location is convenient, just minutes off the Fairfax Co Parkway, yet it is tucked away in a quiet little corner of Herndon. No doubt we will be back again in the not too distant future.
Zeferelli's is our go-to special occasion restaurant, as they are a little pricey for more than that. Having said that, I have never eaten anything here that was not excellent. The staff is attentive, friendly and efficient, they have a great wine list, and we like that it is located in an historic building.
Good food, great service and romantic ambience. Pricey but a nice place for a date or special occasion. My husband would have liked pasta or spinach with his veal saltimboca but the veggies were fine. Salad (not included with entree) had very fresh greens and tasty light dressing.
Our first visit to Zeffirelli Ristorante Italiano was to celebrate our 28th wedding anniversary. We were greeted at the door and ushered to a quiet alcove table. The service was impeccable and the food outstanding. We were well attended to but not rushed and enjoyed a leisurely meal complete with cocktails and wine. All in all a great experience. We have lived in Northern Virginia for 27 years and regret that we didn't visit Zeffirelli Ristorante Italiano sooner.
We had such a good time! The server and staff were very nice, attentive but not pushy and the food was delicious! We had a great table near the windows at the front and there was soft jazz playing. We were with special friends and it was wonderful all around. Can't wait to do it again.
Needed a quiet place for a business lunch and Zeffirelli's fit the bill to a T. The service was prompt without being over-solicitous and the food was very good. I always worry about fish outside of a well-reputed seafood restaurant, but ours was perfectly prepared. Lunch hour at Zeffirelli's was very quiet, with only about 4 tables occupied while we were there. We were there for 2 hours, lingered over cappuccino and never felt pressured. My new favorite local business lunch spot!
The Manager was more concerned with how many people were in our party then providing good service. When we were seated we were not given menus. We eventually ask for menus. Our food was not hot,,, in fact my wife's was cold and had to be sent back to kitchen. Overall very disappointing experience. Would not recommend based on Managers attitude and food temperature. jb
Over many years my husband and I have enjoyed Zeffirelli's as a special occasion dining venue. On Friday night, we did have a pleasant dinner there. The food was reasonably good; the waiter was professional, the atmosphere was quiet. However, perhaps we have gotten a little tired of the restaurant being so predictable. The "specials" are usually the same items from their menu - nothing new or innovative. The "spicy marinara" was not very spicy. The best part of the meal was dessert: tiramisu and tartufo, both very yummy. We do not feel inclined to rush back to Zeffirelli's. We wish them well, but are likely to try a new place for our next special occasion.
