Zeffirelli Ristorante Italiano
KNOWN FOR ITS BEST VEAL CHOP IN THE REGION

Zeffirelli is an oasis of Italian goodness in a concrete desert.
We had said it was our anniversary. It was not mentioned.
I had asked for a quiet table and we were right next to people where one person was very vocal There were lots of empty tables.
The Caesar salad was disappointing
It's the real deal for Italian classics. The service is outstanding and the ambiance is nice, especially for a quiet dinner. The food was very good - plating a little dated but it is classic in style. Specifics: the sausage and pepper appetizer with their bread was outstanding, the gnocchi was a little chewy and the veal saltimbocca was slightly overcooked but the white wine sauce was lite and fresh. Tiramisu and tartuffo rounded off the meal. We did not think it was pricey/overpriced considering it is the DC metro area.
Zeffirelli's has been a staple in my evening dining experiences for almost as many years as it has been open. From the first visit to see if it was like when I lived in Italy to today as a super reminder of Italy, the meals, wine list and service have always been the best.
The Picata (both veal and chicken were selected in our group) was superb, a perfect balance of lemon and white wine smoothed by butter. Capers were just enough, not too many, not too few. Portion sizing allowed for a nice salad to start the meal (Insalata Mista for me), and a nice espresso based coffee drink for each diner at the finish. Deserts are also a pleasure, Panna Cotta is one of my favorites here, well balanced custard style firmness, a treat to polish off a special evening out. A very special meal, it was great spending time with friends from out of town at our favorite meeting place, Zeffirelli's!
Zeffireli's never fails to come through with flying colors! I have been going there on special occasions for over 20 years! The food is outstanding, the service great, (thanks Monica), the wine list impressive and the ambiance is very nice. It was very crowded when we were there Saturday night, every table on the main floor was full which was fine but despite the crowd, we wanted for nothing due to the very attentive staff. I had as I always do when I go there, the famous Veal Chop which was phenomenal. My only slight negative is, it is expensive; $60 with side of pasta or vegetables, and more expensive than I remember in the past. But all in all, a great night out, one that everyone should experience as often as you can! 5 star!
Fave Italian restaurant in all of DMV. Dripping of Italy in every sense of the word, ambiance, the team, the food. Worth the trip to Herndon indeed!
What a wonderful experience we had at Zeffirelli's! We would highly recommend it! We were a bit surprised at the "specials' prices", but we didn't ask until the bill arrived, so that was on us. However, it will not hold us back from going again, it was superb in every way! Thank you.
Awesome food, great ambience. Perfect for a romantic dinner with a loved one.
Zeffirelli’s is now my most favorite Italian restaurant of all time. Everything about was the best. Especially, the service and food.
We have been to this restaurant quite often, but this visit was our first in over two years. The setting, ambiance and service all were excellent. Our food, while ok, was a disappointment and marked a downturn from our previous experiences. On the other hand, the shrimp appetizer was very good as was a shared dessert. Overall, we give it a 4.
Great service, great food, nice atmosphere at a reasonable price
Great service. Friendly atmosphere. Would gladly recommend to anyone who wants to enjoy a great Italian dinner.
Went for our first time last night with friends. We found this place to be very expensive for what you get. They listed off several specials without giving a price ( I hate that) but they sounded delicious. I ordered the salmon with crab stuffing with lobster bisque sauce. I would almost believe this was a pre-maid , frozen entree. Stuffing was that cheap bread / crab? with peppers and salmon was so thin you could barely taste it . And to add insult to injury it was 37 dollars! The restaurant was pretty empty for a Saturday night . This restaurant can’t compete with the many really great places at this price point . Unfortunately, I think it s on its last leg . The waitress got 2 of our orders wrong and then charged us for the more expensive item we didnt ordder aftrt we sent iit back . it was nice to get out with friends so the company was great!
Service was a WOW! Food good this time but have had absolutely delish meals there; so will def go back! Was surprised how many tables were passing around their smart phones playing videos on loud. Would have thought staff would intervene but clearly an awkward situation. Think once one table did it the others followed. Made the ambiance feel like local bar vs fine dining. That said will def try again.
it had been several years since we'd visited. As always for us, the veal is the highlight. Although we didn't choose the "famous veal chop", we opted for veal scaloppini marsala and veal scaloppini Vitelli. Both were great. My one disappointment was that although I indicated that it was a birthday celebration, no acknowledgment of that fact was made.
It was my birthday and I had wanted to get cozze which was on the menu. The food was excellent and the service outstanding. However I was seated practically on top of the table next to me. I have hearing issues so it was difficult to speak with my wife. This was the only thing that made the evening less than outstanding. Next time I will request a different table but I will return for the food!
Excellent food and ambiance, and would recommend highly.
The food was amazing.. the service was good but went a little off track as our waitress got more tables...decided to have dessert but passed due to her not coming back to table. The presentation and the atmosphere was amazing
This restaurant was delicious! I would go back! The staff was particularly wonderful!
The garlic shrimp appetizer was excellent as was the salads. My pork chop was a little dry but tasted great. The wine was very good and balanced with the food. My wife loved the tiramisu an I enjoyed the home made cheesecake. The service was excellent throughout. Well done.
Nice appetizer. Veal in my dish ok. My dates was tough....very though. She didn't have the nerve to send it back. I tasted it at the end and at that point the meal was over. I won't be going back.
We had a wonderful experience. The menu didn't match the website, but it didn't bother us. The couple next to us was upset that there wasn't a vegetarian menu. The staff explained that the menu changes frequently due to fresh ingredients and they could prepare vegetarian options. We ordered off the menu, our food was delicious - we will come back again next time we are in the area.
Wonderful food, atmosphere and service! The menu has so many options and the specials were delicious. Something for everyone.
I love the relaxed feel of this place – like a comfortable dining room in a friends home. I definitely would return to try more dishes. The caprese salad was refreshing a great way to start our meal. The wait staff were welcoming and attentive . We had a very nice pino grisio by St. Margharita that was priced reasonalbly
The Bronzino which is charcoal grilled was delicious
My wife and I always enjoy coming here for some date nights. Great food. Great service!
We found Zeffirelli’s while visiting Herndon, VA. This place reminded me of dining in Europe with attentive servers, candlelight and starched linens. It was quiet, so conversation was easy. And the food! It was wonderful. I had the saltimboca veal, my husband had the salmon, and both were delicious! Would absolutely visit again!
Love this authentic Italian find in Herndon. Great Veal Chops, pasta dishes, seafood and gritting de mare (Italian seafood stew). Love it!
What a refreshing difference to most restaurants with too loud music, inexperienced waiters and loud table neighbors. Thank you.
It's so good we limit our patronage to once a year on our anniversary. It's difficult to hold back and I always leave stuffed.
This was our first time here. Wait staff was attentive without being over bearing. Food was very good. Seafood pasta special had mussels, shrimp, scallops and lobster tail. All cooked well not over cooked. We went early at 5:30 on a Friday and it was wonderful that they kept the lights up. We will be back.
Have been here a few times and never disappointed. The staff is terrific- friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. The food is always delicious. Not cheap but not ridiculous. It is worth the money for sure. I recommend it highly.
I took my wife to Zeffirelli for her birthday and it exceeded our expectations in every way. Presentation was amazing, food was spectacular and service was excellent. We wish we had known this restaurant well before now and will be back.
Food was great. A little pricey, but delicious. Service was good but I expected a bit better for the price. I would definitely go again.
We started with the calamari and zucchini way too much batter and really not much flavor
For dinner I had shrimp scampi which was bland and tasted like spaghetti with shrimp and butter sauce
My husband has veal ossobuco which he said was delicious.
It was $40+ for his meal we just moved from Dallas and same meal would be around $30 so I feel it’s over priced even accounting for cost of living
I doubt we’ll go back
Great food, attentive server, nice surroundings. We had a party of three and had lobster ravioli, veal lasagna and seafood pasta - all superb!
We love Zeffirelli’s! The atmosphere, friendly service and food are the very best!
Since it was Mother's Day, I'll give the restaurant a little slack, as this and Valentine's Day are super-busy days for restaurants...but, service was slow. They tried to keep up though. They were kind enough to comp my 2nd glass of wine. Food taste was good, but the cost was very high, so I would recommend they up their game in the tastiness area (four of us agreed), or lower their prices. Ambiance was nice, and the manager was nice.
Arrived at 5:15 right on time. Appetizers & salads came in timely. But dinner did not arrive to our table until 6:40. We had to return to our hotel by 7:00. And had to take everything in take out containers. They did give us a slice of cheese cake a two cannolis. But cutting a steak with plastic knives is no way to eat it. If we had the extra time to sit and enjoy the meal at the table. It would have been a great dinner experience. Time was the major problem.
The rest of our experience there was very good. Anyone going to dinner on a Saturday should expect 3 hours to be safe.
