Very good. The only annoyance was surcharges for feta cheese.
I was brought a green instead of a Caesar salad, and then 15 minutes later I was brought a Caesar salad that was drenched in dressing.
The server did the right thing and didn’t charge for the salad.
We arrived at 5:20 p.m. for dinner before a 7:00 p.m. show.
We told our server and host about this time constraint and were told it wouldn’t be a problem.
Mom’s sea bass was dry, my lamb shank was fine, though we had less than 10 minutes to eat our food! I heard the server apologize to virtually every table. I don’t know if it was the cook’s first day, but 50 a piece for rushed indigestion isn’t my idea of fun.
I won’t be back !
Unfortunately we had an extremely long wait for our dinner. We had reservations at 5pm and did not receive our meals unitl 6:30. We had to bolt our food down and rush to the theatre for a 7pm curtain. Our waiter was extremely aplogetic. I have no idea what was going on in the kitchen or with the extreme delay. I will have to reconsider ever booking here again. Disappointed.
Really friendly and accommodating staff.
Very good food.
Priced as expected in a resort area.
Great atmosphere on the veranda. Lovely evening with friends from out of town. Good food & wine. Have been many times as I am local. Will continue to return. Would like to see menu changed more often.
My fiancée and I dined here on August 11. I made a note to the establishment that I'd like to request a table with a romantic view if possible, as we were celebrating our anniversary. I had honestly forgot I had sent that. When we arrived, we chose to sit on the patio which overlooked the street because it was a beautiful summer evening and all the people were out walking...the flowers are beautiful here. After we ordered dinner, the server brought us each a complimentary glass of champagne and wished a happy anniversary. Very nice. A perfect place to dine in the summer.
Everything was absolutely delicious - great place! My boyfriend and I started with the crispy pork belly and ceasar salad both generous portions. Pork belly was really crispy and came with a carrot puree that was nice and sweet which when combined with the fresh shaved fennel on the plate was a great combination. I had the short ribs - super tender and well seasoned. Boyfriend had the lamb shank which was the same - super tender and delicious. Would recommend Zees Grill for sure!
Service was top notch. Laura took care of all of our needs in a very friendly and professional manner. Our food was delicious - two of us ordered beef tenderloin and two ordered the salmon. We all agreed it was the best meal we've had in Niagara On The Lake after several yearly visits. We will definitely be returning.
Thanks for a wonderful experience!
The short ribs are outstanding!! The patio is lovely and close to everything a Queen St
Food quality and cooking is good. Portions are "American sized", which makes the value decent - if you can eat that much.
Good local wine selection.
Love Zee’s. Will keep coming back! Great food, great patio!
Excellent service and meal. Great dinner before theatre,
Wonderful meal and a lovely atmosphere. Portion size is generous. Great vegetarian options.
We had a great time at Zee's. We usually dine at Zee's when visiting NOTL. Our favourite. Also every server we have had, made our visits much more pleasurable! Keep it up folks!
Ordered 2 swordfish dinners for 39.00 each way over cooked and waiter said oh sorry I’ll tell the kitchen no sympathy
Good food. Will be back!
In good dining experiance. My root beer braised beef short rib was immense and I could only eat half. The meat was tender and flavorful. My husband had the Shanghai Pasta dish which had great flavor but the soba buckwheat pasta all stuck together in one large buckwheat pasta lump. He would have complained but did not want to wait for another dinner. The outdoor dining space is large and makes for a pleasant place to dine.
Cheese Platter was funny. While presented beautifully, it had two pieces of cheese, four thin slices of meat and 40 crackers. Over 70% of the board was crackers. More cheese and meat would be welcomed considering price of platter.
The outdoor patio is very nice. The wait staff are always pleasant and attentive but the entrees are pricey for what you get (size and quality). The salads are pretty standard but good ; a bit more selection would be nice with the appetizers. A standout dessert menu is a must for me at any restaurant but desserts are not a feature here. I do understand that this is not a vegan restaurant but many people are cutting out meat and dairy for various reasons ; one or possibly two creative, dedicated vegan entrees would be appreciated.
With the exception of the dessert I ordered to take to our room the food was top notch. The dessert, a kahlua mousse cake, was dry and not pleasant to eat. Definitely not worth $11.00. Very disappointed.
Food arrived hot. Service was excellent. Food presentation was spot on. Portion size was insufficient for a man. Price for the meal on the high side .
The food is always good at Zees, and they did not disappoint on this occasion. The gazpacho had an interesting smoky flavor with fire roasted vegetables. The salmon was perfectly prepared. The highlight of the evening was our server, Jeff. His timing and attention to his guests is superb.
Food was tasty and portion sizes were huge. We wished we had room for dessert but could barely finish our entrees. Excellent service and attentive staff. Would definitely return (and save room for dessert or the recommended dessert martini)
Zees restaurant was awesome. My boyfriend and I had come here for his birthday and we had a great experience. We were seated outdoors under the covered area and had a beautiful view of the streets and parks across the street. We ordered the charcuterie board which was great but we think they forgot to add the roasted red peppers (was listed on the menu) and we only had 4 little pieces of salami. The cheeses tasted great we just wished they would put some more unique ones instead of just brie and cheddar. We ordered the Sword Fish Dish and Surf and Turf - at first looked like small portions but definitely filled you up in the end. We had death by chocolate cake for dessert and Zees was able to put a birthday candle in the cake which was a nice personal touch. Would definitely recommend!
Overall wonderful experience from outstanding service to great food. The chef made components I don’t usually care for irresistible.
From the soup to the desserts, nothing pretentious just great food! Congratulations chef on doing a terrific job!
The food was very good, as it has been for several years. I had noted when I made my 5:30 p.m. reservation that we were going to the 8:00 p.m. play performance across the street. The Maitre D came over to our server as she was starting to explain the specials to say that I had the play time wrong & it started at 7:00 p.m. as it was Sunday. A good catch and our service moved swiftly without giving us a rushed feeling so that we made the play in plenty of time. Not only proof that the restaurant pays attention to the comments written when making a reservation, but a recommendation for noting such information when making your reservation.
Zee's Grill has been a favorite of ours since we moved to Buffalo 10 years ago. We have dinner before a Shaw Festival event (as well as other times) and the service is always exceptional.
The food is fantastic! Always creative and not over-spiced. I had the chicken with sweet potato puree and it tastes like sweet potato (not sugar or nutmeg).
The desserts are amazing (save room) and the coffee is not the typical bitter French roast but a smooth blend of rich coffee.
My husband is a wine-lover and says the wines have improved over the years. Our server was educated about wine and able to discuss the various choices.
Excellent! Always fun!
As usual, as with other restaurants, my veggies (green beans and scalloped potatoes) weren't cooked enough for me but my wife's were excellent for her taste.
We really liked its proximity to the Shaw Festival and the view of its area.
Our waitress was quick to agree to change some ingredients to others available on other plates.
This was our first visit to Zee's. We enjoyed our lunch and plan to return to sample the supper menu.
Phenomenal meal and beautiful patio. Our server Trevor was fantastic, will definitely be returning!
Food was excellent! Delicious salmon & potato galette, and my husband enjoyed his Southern Chicken. We chose to eat in the dining room, which was almost completely empty for our 7:30 booking on a Wednesday, and servers preparing the tables for breakfast service did take away from the ambience. Our host greeted us with an anniversary greeting, but no communication to our server. Service was friendly, but very slow. Our server seemed to be preoccupied with closing down the restaurant & we waited unusually long for a dessert menu & then the bill. Also did not receive the extra touches this time, such as palette cleansing sorbet. Therefore, this was not the special anniversary dinner that we were hoping for.
Food was.delicious and servings large.
Servers are pleasant and efficient. Beef rib was huge and tender as well as tasty. Southern chicken excellent and salmon duo was also excellent. Have been here several times and will.be back. Highly recommend.
Zees Grill is one of my favourite restaurants in the Niagara Region. It is especially nice to dine outside on their spacious veranda. The food is excellent and reasonably priced.
We went for a late evening dinner. There were many good options on the menu. The three of us found our entrees well prepared & delicious. The portions were more than sufficient. Our waiter was very accommodating and didn’t rush us even though it was late. We enjoyed being there and highly recommend it. Thank you!
Our server, Laura, was excellent and any other servers who came along and saw that we were short of water for example, filled our glasses.
The food was very good and the timing was excellent as far as not having to wait too long in between courses.
Definitely recommend it and will look forward to going back again the next time we are in NOTL.
Ate outside at 8pm, with 4 others. Goid service. I had an excellent salad. Husband loved the pork belly. Other 4 enjoyed their meals. Shared a red cake dessert. Too sweet for me, but others liked. I'd definitely return. Food is consistently good here. Our friends gave breakfast here each morning. Just across from Festival theater so very convenient for before or after show dining.
Root beer braised short ribs were spectacular. Also, the potatoes served with it were amazing.
Had lunch with friends before the matinee at Shaw. Food and service were both excellent. The lobster risotto fritters were outstanding. Can’t wait to come back again for dinner.
We loved sitting on the patio watching the world go by - lovely flowers, quiet location. The lamb shank was perfectly cooked, meat falling off the bone. Richly flavored and served on a tangy couscous base. The salmon was cooked just how I like it, moist and flaky. Hubby's fish dish was equally flavorful. Wine was well priced. We went twice during our stay because of the good value.
