The lobster and fig ravioli was divine...and the OMG sushi roll deserved it's name. We had the special lamb chops and I'm not sure what the marinade was but it was the best lamb I've ever had. The blood orange martini's are delish....a wonderful place to meet friends!!
This evening my wife and I went back to Zebra's to make up for the fiasco on our anniversary. Prior to our June 27th reservation I had contacted a local florist and spent a large amount of money on a vase of flowers for our table to celebrate our anniversary. Before the date I contacted Zebra's directly and spoke to the hostess and told them I was having flowers delivered, who was delivering them and what time they would be coming. When we arrived I kept waiting for them to be brought out. Finally I asked the hostess who went "looking" for them. She said that they had never been delievered. I contacted the florist who said they had been delivered on time and who signed for them. I called Zebra back with this informaiont and they....
I have visted Zebra's just to visit thier lounge. This was my first dining room experience. As this was a treat for my father for father's day. Not only was I overly impressed. My entire family was impressed. The food was was seasoned just right, the atmosphere was great.
My husband loved the food but I did not. I ordered a paella, which was basically risotto with some seafood and chorizo plopped on top. It was very disappointing. The service was excellent, and we liked the ambiance.
Zebra never disappoints. the food really is phenomonal and the service is outstanding!
5 star dining in the suburbs! My biggest problem is deciding what to get. My husband and I share everything. The siroin steak, scallops, duck and sushi are to die for! The martinis, wine and service are bar none.
Our dining experience was wonderful. The waitstaff is friendly and efficient. The food is amazing, although a little on the pricey side. Great for a special occasion.
All was perfect that night. We were seated promptly and our meals were delicious. It was presented as we had ordered it. The kids meal were also nicely done as it comes in a bento box. The desert was wonderful as well.
All in all, a wonderful evening. The staff was great as well.
Fantastic food -- beautiful ambience. A great find in a suburban location.
Great food. our only complaint is that we wish the menu would change a little more frequently. from the appetizers to desert the food was fantastic and the atmosphere has been wonderful.
Fine cuisine, excellent service with a very nice ambiance.
We have been dining here occasionally for several years. The food and service are very good, but the prices have crept up and the portions sizes seem to have gone the other way. A full dinner for two with appetizer, drinks, dessert, tax and tip is easily over $100.
Great find for those who need Gluten Free items.
I can't wait to go again.
Keep up the good work
Surprised how good it was. Had had a bad experience several years ago. Everything was great.
the lobster soecial wasn't that great. The breading was bland and the lobster meat, dry. I asked for, and added, melted butter and salt which made it perfect .. but that should have happened before it came out of the kitchen!!
Otherwise, and overall, Zebra is a great restaurant. Also, when I was there .. it was slow .. but, among the guests: a Patriots player, a state senator, a former American Idol finalist, and 2 television personalities!! Not bad for a small neighborhood restaurant on a Monday night!!
If you are looking for an intimate Bistro, this is the place. The food is always excellent and the wine selection great. The Jazz nights are a nice addition to dining. Service is always attentive. It is our favorite restaurant.
As always the food at Zebra's is top notch. The service was also good, and we had a very nice experience. It is a neighborhood gem.
We moved to Sharon last year from the Bay Area and miss our many fantastic restaurants. A friend mentioned Zebra, we looked up the menu on-line and it looked scrumptious. The entrance to Zebra brings you to their wine bar/lounge, very nice and comfortable. We were seated right away. We ordered a split flight. The wine list was fine. I ordered the smoked mozzarella raviolis, which were yummy but the alfredo sauce was oily and lacking taste. The truffle/parm fries were not crispy. Margaret ordered the lobster and fig pizza, per another review. This was the most soggy pizza we have had between us and it had no figs, instead Zebra uses fig jam - no big deal, just a surprise. We had high expectations but found our food selections to be mediocre.
Drinks and dinner were excellent. Dessert offerings were a bit lackluster. The flourless chocolate cake tasted more like a brownie. Service was very good.
Mother's Day was a nice time to visit Zebra's. Since we live nearby we saw friends there. The wine list is nice - many good choices. My wife and I had the sirloin. My cut was great but hers was not. At our request it was served with vegetables instead of mashed potatoes. Unfortunately they didn't get the signal that maybe we were being carb and health conscious because the asparagus came out deep fried in a shell of some sort, and they piled a huge load of onion rings on our plates. Nonetheless it was a pleasant dinner and I recommend Zebra's if you want something fancy in the 'burbs.
Overall a delightful choice for Mother's Day Brunch. Lobster was disappointing but the rest of the buffet choices were hot, well-presented, and deliciously prepared. BUT if you advertise it as a lobster brunch, that should be outstanding. It was not.
We were early diners due to the need to travel an hour from the restaurant to our engagement. Several families came in and were welcomed w/enthusiasm and seated appropriately for children to have room to get up and down -- unusual & noteworthy for this trendy upscale eatery. The food was outstanding & offered several different twists to entrees I was actually interested in eating rather than "o.k. I guess I'll try it." By the time we left the tables were 90% filled and the noise level was rising. The decor is hard surfaces w/ little to absorb sound. In general, we loved it and will return. The wait staff is very attentive but it took us a while to figure out which person was our actual server.
Zebra is a lovely addition to the few (and I do mean few) neighborhood restaurants I would choose, living in Needham.
We went to Zebra's through an OpenTable.com search without any recommendations from friends and were pleasantly surprised over such a terrific find! The quality of the food was outstanding and the service very friendly and knowledgeable. We have food allergies and the staff was very accommodating to our needs. They have a terrific gluten-free menu. We will be back.
Really impressive for the suburbs, we'll be back soon.
noisy, strange waitress and average food. we won't go back
I used to love this restaurant, but there must have been a change in ownership. The food was extremely disappointing and overpriced for what it was. The service was terrible, we waited a half hour before our salads came and it wasn't even that busy. I ordered what used to be my favorite salads at Zebras (the one with the egg) and it came out with missing ingredients, i.e., the cheese.
Great meal. Fresh seafood perfectly seasoned and presented. Good use of fresh vegetables. Excellent Sushi. The staff is friendly and efficient. Very nice wine list. Bar is comfortable.
Zebra's has been a fixture in downtown Medfield since it opened in the old post office years ago. They raised the bar then, and keep it high now. They continue to evolve both the space and the menu. This keeps the place fresh and interesting. The mix of food is also interesting, especially since it includes good sushi.
A bit too pricey (at least for us) weekly night out spot, we save it for a once a month or so "bit more special" night out. The bar area is large and comfortable - at least if you can snag a couch - and we usually run into to someone we know, so the wait for a table (always if you don't have a reservation) is enjoyable. Outside in the summer is nice. Great staff, too!
Always an enjoyable experience.
Was not really impressed. Very expensive for the end product. My whole party felt the same.
The food is always great. The chef makes the usual plate with a different twist that makes it special. The menu does not change often, but there are enough specials to make up for it, actually I usually order from the regular menue.
The sushi is great and the rest of the menu is good. We have eaten in the restaurant and the bar and prefer the bar.
The sushi with salmon and mango with a little lemon zest was such a surprising combination, but the tastes compliment one another very well!
The scallop dish with the zuchini and crispy wonton is a personal favorite.
We had a wonderful time at Zebra's on 4/4/09. I love that theeir menu changes so often, always offering you unique and interesting meals. We started with the baby greens salad which was delicious. I had one of the spoecials, Lobster Ravioli, which was sumptious. My husband had a steak which was very good. Our waitress was great, right on top of everything, and making sure that it was all to our liking.
It can get noisy in there, which is about the only drawback.
I wouldn't say that this is a kid friendly place but it amazes me that there's always little kids in there.
Overall it was an enjoyable evening without being outrageously expensive. We will continue to dine at Zebra's.
We love Zebras. Although if you are at a large table, it is often hard to hear the person across the table. It is quite noisy on a busy night.
The menu offered a lot of variety. I liked having the regular menu and the sushi menu. The atmosphere was very nice and the bar is cozy.
The food is good, but not great. The crab cakes were bland and the mussels lacked any flavor as well. The beef short ribs were very tasty though. I would go back for sushi.
Medfield's very own fine dining establishment that can compete with the city. Cozy atmosphere and friendly service. The food is good however the menu needs to changed up. Being a local we frequent this restaurant and it seems like the menu doesn't change all year round. More variety please and we'll be back.
My wife and I had dinner at Zebras this past Tuesday evening, March 24. We've eaten there probably a half-dozen times over the last year or so, primarily because it is very close to home and so convenient. Our main courses were good, but not great, consistent with previous visits. The wine was outstanding, as always, but very expensive. The bread and appetizers were also very good, as were our desserts. Very good service, nice ambience. If Zebras could figure out how to bring their entrees up to the same quality as the rest of the experience, and offer slightly more reasonable prices for their wine, it would earn a "very good" to "outstanding" rating from us. As of this most recent visit, Zebras remains simply "good".
