It was a nice atmosphere. Food was ok. They were a little slow at first but we got our food quickly. Server was nice. Not sure if I Wikileaks go back or not.
Had good reviews, friends had wanted to try for a while. Imagine getting warm Gluten Free bread at the table, unheard of. Advertised live music and when asking found out new ownership and they cancelled music and closing Zeal in a week. So sad, I would have been back!
I no longer live in the area so this was a new place for me. We had lunch. The bar looked like a nice nighttime place for a drink and a meal. Very attentive staff. We had 2 veg's and a carnivore in our threesome. They had many comfort dishes and several veg selections and made sure to say that they could make any selection veg. We each enjoyed our meals and the Monster Carrot Cake, is a delicious monster :)
It was really cold
In the restaurant. We were there for over an hour and never warmed up
Started with Clemenzas and the bread and oil. We both had seafood. Generous portions and great flavor. Will return.
At 7 pm on a Sat ordered basic lamb chops the waiter came back said out of lamb chops then ordered scallops..waiter came back said out of scallops.Again this was at 7pm Sat night.
Good food not so good deserts. Noise and ambiance not that good. Because the menu is diverse, it attracts diverse crowd as well. Sitting is tight.
We had our quarterly business lunch. There were some many options that appealed to me I will need to return to try.. some of the meals my coworkers chose looked delish and everyone raved about it!
I was very excited to dine at Zeal for date night because of the rave reviews. However, Zeal fell short due to the service—server rushed through presentation @ seemed stressed. There was no toilet paper in the ladies bathroom, it took the hostess 15 mins to locate, while I stood at the door waiting—how super embarrassing!!! Although the food was good for the value. The Service tainted our experience!!!
We liked the food at zeals....things to improve:
The website stated no reservations for the lounge BUT when we arrived, there were reserved booths, tables in the lounge for dinners.
THE bar has tent cards informing patrons of a 2 drink minimum, no seat saving and that seats should be relinquished if you are no longer ordering drinks......does that mean that you lose your seat if you dance....ALSO very rude for patrons that have spent good money and are looking to enjoy an entire evening although they have decided to no longer drink alcohol..
Our server was not very friendly, bordered on rude...the bus boy started cleaning the entire table during our conversation...felt rushed although there were several empty tables....
Loved the lit-up menus in the bar
Unfortunately this wasn't our best experience at Zeal. Apparently there had been a shower and a wedding that day, so everyone in the restaurant seemed to be scrambling from that. Had to wait quite awhile for a table even though we had a reservation, and it's not feasible to sit at the bar as my daughter isn't 21. We finally were seated, our server was prompt and attentive, but overheard us talking about the bone in ribeye and said "ooh I think we're out of that". He checked and there was only one left, so only one person in our party was able to get it. Then my daughter wanted the sea bass and was told that was out as well, but after probing a bit, was told that actually it's never carried because it's "market price" and "we wouldn't want to charge you how expensive it is so we just don't carry it." Seems odd to even put it on the menu then, and my daughter really wanted it so we would've paid whatever the market price was. So we made it to dessert and wanted the lemon cake, but you guessed it, they were out of the lemon cake. All in all I had hoped for a better experience but unfortunately it was just ok.
My food was burnt on one side and it tasted bitter. I told the waitress and she just said ok and continued on with whatever she was doing and acted like she was busy, (we were the only ones in the freaking restaurant). When we finished, she asked me if i would like to take my food home, I told her again that it tasted bitter and again she just continued on with the next person and left without saying anything. It also took a lot of effort to get her to come and give us water, (again, we we're the only ones in the restaurant). I would not recommend this place to anyone and we will not be coming back here ever.
Live music , more for older crowd but still enjoyed environment.
The restaurant was incredibly noisy. This was the second time we were there and it was terribly noisy both times. The restaurant caters to large parties and doesn’t really care about the occasional Saturday night reservation. We waited an hour and a half for our meals because the kitchen got backed up because of the large parties. One man was shouting at his dinner table and this was acceptable.
Then the live band started playing just as some of the large parties started leaving. If you are looking to hear the people at your table or a relaxing dinner, not here
As usual, Chef Vince’s food is over the top. From the great shareable salads to the awesome Gnochi in ‘supreme’ sauce to the entree’s ( grouper, flounder and seafood diovalo).
Very pricey. But outstanding overall. Best regards to the chef.
Chef Vince is great. He makes a dish for us that isn't on the menu, all we have to do is ask for it. He's great and the food is outstanding.
Always solid with the items served at Zeal, you can rarely go wrong. The prices are good for the food you get. The gnocchi were good, albeit a little heavier than I recall but good overall. A neighborhood gem, I was here two days before for lunch. One of my favorite spots.
First time at Zeal and we’ll be back excellent food , service and value for money.
For anyone with food allergies, stay away! I asked for my son's sliders plain, only cheese, they came with everything. After I told our waitress, they literally wiped them off, put new cheese on them and returned them to our table...with ketchup still on them. If this is how careless and cheap they are, why would my son's food allergies be important. We have a difficult time finding new places to go, this was by far the worst experience I've had in a long time. I will let all our family and friends know, never to try Zeal's. For a chef that values himself as much as stated on his website, really didn't show.
Found this restaurant to be so-so. Had a drink at the bar before dinner - cocktails were a bit sweet and not well balanced. Had the shrimp cocktail for appetizer- best part of the meal. Tried the short ribs for dinner - way over cooked and obviously reheated. Other diner’s meals were okay, but nothing special. I wouldn’t go running back, but it was okay to give it a try.
Zeal never ceases to amaze us. Brought relatives in from out of town and had another great experience. Joe the bartender did a great job filling in for Chuck. The food was fantastic and the entertainment was delightful.
We went to lunch during Northwest Restaurant Week. A very good choice . I had the chopped salad, excellent. My husband had Stretchatella soup and liked it. We both had Stuffed Meatballs with Polenta. OMG, they were gigantic and delicious. Neither of us ate more than one. Had to save a bit of room for dessert. Caramel sea salt gelato with caramel popcorn and chocolate/caramel drizzle. WOW. I would recommend this restaurant for any occasion.
Tremendous value on Sunday Dinner. The 4course sunday zeal deal can't be beat $19.99. You will take food home.
Food took way too long. Steaks were all over cooked and sprouts were almost raw.
Zeal is always fabulous, Vince is so creative. We are never disappointed.
Not as impressed this time as the first time we ate at Zeal. That being said, it was much more crowded this time. Steaks were a little well done for my taste. I ordered medium well, my friend ordered medium; neither had any pink in them. Service was pretty good. Waiter wasn’t quite as attentive as he could have been but still good. I would eat here again probably.
Food, drinks and deserts were very good! But our waiter should go back to what he was doing before.
House wine in bar gave me a headache. Wouldn’t suggest anyone having it again.
Very nice place. The food is fantastic and you get lots of food. Actually one dish could easily feed two people.
Yum! Went there for restaurant week! We will be going back!
I met a friend at the bar before have a meal in the restaurant to have a couple of cocktails. The bartender was great, friendly, accommodating and all around nice, as well the owner came out and spoke with us as well. When going into the restaurant many items on their special wall menu were unavailable. Keep in mind they opened at 4pm and my reservation was at 630. I was disappointed in that as well as the server was not exceptionally friendly or came back to check on us. The food was average at best. A very disappointing restaurant.
Very few vegetarian options. We ordered the artichoke heart, burnt pasta, penne suprema and 4 cheese trottole pastas.
Only the burnt pasta was okay. The artichoke heart had a lot of stuffing, the suprema sauce was too runny and the 4 cheese trottole wasn’t any good either.
Excellent food with generous portions to take home, very reasonably priced wine list, not hurried, a bit loud but fun on a Saturday night!!
Zeal is great as always. Service was a little under what we normally experience but didn’t detract from a great meal.
Great service. Our waiter, Jimmy, was also a sommelier so was able to suggest a fabulous wine, and gave us tips on our dinner selections. I ordered the lollipop lamb chops and my friend ordered the pine nut encrusted scallops, both were delicious, although I made the mistake of ordering mine medium...should have ordered medium rare. Jimmy came back to ask our opinions about the wine selection, as well as the food, and seemed to genuinely be interested in our opinions, asking further questions to our responses. It never felt like an intrusion, and when my friend and I were in a serious conversation he never interrupted. They do have live music, at least on Fridays, and it did get a bit louder, but did not effect our conversation. Quite enjoyable, and I would recommend and go back.
We have been wanting to try Zeal for a very long time. My husband's dad was friends with the owner and loves his old restaurant as well. I booked it for Valentine's Day and could not be more happy that I did. The food was amazing!! Every bite was bursting with flavor. The wine was exactly what I was craving with each note bouncing independently off my palate. Service was really good and they had live music. I will definitely be back, soon!!
Lauren was very helpful and attentive.
We enjoyed our visit.
Surf and turf was perfect.
We opted out of our table seats to stay for the bar dining , with a good duet singing Greg songs on a Valentine’s Day , the bar tender ( forgot his name) was first class and made the evening special- food was excellent, finished with some dancing , and excellent wine!
The atmosphere was fine. The service was fine. The food was terrible. The chicken francaise over angel hair pasta had no taste. It was bland and seemed to have been microwaved. The scallops had no taste with poor seasoning. It was our second and last time at this restaurant.
