Zeal Ratings and Reviews
Excellent Italian spot near Woodfield Mall. Very good traditional Italian and creative innovations from Chef Vince. On a busy Saturday night, Chef Vince stopped at our table to discuss the evening specials with us. Our server Gary was very attentive too. We will be back.
How did I not know about this place? I understand Zeal has been open for well over a year, but I was not familiar with it until a friend suggested it. The food and service were terrific. We dined on a quite Tuesday night and it was so nice to have a quite dining environment. My stuffed meatballs over polenta were to-die-for. Very filling, but the waitress accommodated a doggie bag, with no problems. Nice wine list, terrific list of traditional Italian entrees, and interesting specials. Can't wait to return!
The food here is amazing. They have a nice cocktail and wine selection. We had chicken parmesan, the fish special, bracciole, and an outstanding lasagna with prime rib inside it. It was to die for. The bracciole was tough but they credited our bill for that. Everyone else's dishes were outstanding. Overall, it was a nice experience. The waitress was extremely knowledgeable about their food and the chef could be seen several times out in the restaurant or up front and is very hands-on with his customers, which I thought was really endearing. we would definitely go back again.
Great evening celebrating a special Birthday. Great food, good service. We ate early and left before the entertainment started, but would love to go back to check out the music.
My husband had one of the specials - a Hot and spicy seafood plate. He loved it! Very generous portions.
Definitely planning on returning.
Food was outstanding! Huge portions, great flavor, overall delicious. Our server was great! The tables are too close!!! Need to spread them out more! The tables next to us were only a couple inches from us. We were all trying to make the best of it and not bump each other every time we moved.
We had been to this restaurant before and the food had always been very good. However, this time, the service was extremely slow. It took over 45 minutes for our appetizer to come out and then another 45 minutes for our food. We had asked a few times about the status of the food and we were told it would be coming out shortly. When the food finally came out, the wrong substitutions were included and my fiance's steak was charred (I'm assuming this was to hurry the cooking time). Needless to say, we will not be going back anytime soon.
Great selection of food. Good service., but expensive. Not your usually menu. Chef Vince makes Italian dishes that are different, but Italian is not the only thing on the menu. His fish dishes are to die for and His bakery chef makes the best carrot cake in town.
We ordered suppa de peache. Received something else and brought to attention of sever who returned it to the kitchen but on return it still wasn't what we ordered. Just ate and complained once again. Offered comp on deserts but could not order the most because they were too expensive, I asked that the suppa be removed from the check which was the most expensive entree on menu.
First we all enjoyed our dinners. The waitress was outstanding. We especially enjoyed
the grilled squid. One of our group says this was as good as any he has enjoyed anywhere
on the west coast where it is a dining staple.
Only negative is $24.00 for linguine with white clam sauce is pricey.
We've been here several times before tonight and this was the worst overall experience. We were very disappointed. Our appetizers were prepeared incorrectly, once they fixed them we waited a long time to order our entrees, then when those came the one dish was suppose to be with an arbiatta sauce BUT WAS SOOOOO HOT (flavor not temp) you couldn't even eat it! My filets were burnt to a crisp, when I asked for medium- I ordered a plain cheeseburger and there was sooo much ketchup on it my daughter couldn't even eat it! Our waitress was nice enough to COMP dessert, but our bill was still close to $300!! Definitely won't be returning, not sure if a new chef is there or what's happening?! But the changes are NOT GOOD, unfortunately .
I normally do not do this. Server was great. Kitchen short staff due to illness. Food was very delayed over an hour. All 3 in our party were sick within 6 hours.possibly lobster roll.
Sometimes you need to just say closed due to illness instead of letting one chef try to handle things - which may or mat not have been appropriately done.
My opinion based in the visit saturday aug 19.
