   It’s so great having a quality restaurant within walking distance of our condo. The food is outstanding and the staff most attentive without being intrusive.

   The Mahi Mahi special was outstanding. Very fresh and well prepared. Danielle was our server, training Linda, a new server. We could not have asked for better service.

   We had a delightful Sunday family dinner. Our server, Joe, was so very nice, attentive and knowledgeable about the menu which made our dinner enjoyable for everyone. My husband and I had the Walleye special entree which was outstanding. Our daughter had the pasta with sausage, She loved that as well. Our grandchildren had their special noodles (buttered noodles), they are 8 and 12, perfect dinner for them. For dessert we had the special pear bread pudding, and creme brûlée Both were delicious and very managable sizes. We will definitely dine here again. Za Za's is a real treasure!

    We have been to Za Za's many times, and once again we were not disappointed. We arrived about 10 minutes before our 7pm reservation and were seated immediately. The server came with water right away and took our drink order. The bread basket and plate of olives followed in a minute or so. We both ordered soup, which came quickly, was hot and delicious. My wife ordered the chicken parmesan and I had broiled calamari. Both dishes arrived in a timely fashion, and like the soups, were hot and delicious. We did not have dessert, the check came to a very reasonable $58 to which I added $12. We were back in our car by 8pm and on the way home. We will return again soon.

    Overall was very good, it has been awhile since the last time we dined here. We usually get the same dishes, the food was a little disappointing . Not saying that it was bad, just was lacking taste.

    We made a reservation for 8pm, we arrived at 7:50pm but weren't seated until 8:45pm. The waitress was nice and apologized but it took about another 20 mins after we were seated to finally see here and put in a drink and appetizer order. Some more time passed and we put in our food order, what we got was very disappointing. When I say it was like I was inhaling fennel with every bite of my food, I am not exaggerating at all. I wasn't sure if it was just me so I had my Girlfriend try it as well, she said the same thing... I couldn't eat it. She had a rolled steak dish with pasta, the beef was very dry and bland tasting and the noodles tasted like it came from a Chef Boyardee can. Honestly, I never complain or write reviews but I was so upset with my overall experience that I had to write this. Maybe it was just because of a crazy Valentines night but that is no excuse for the service we had.

    Food that we were able to get was fabulous as expected, but due to Valentine's Day, the service was terrible. We had to wait 1/2 hour past our reservation time with literally nowhere to stand and no space at bar. Was hoping they would have given us a free cocktail or something to pass the time, but no such luck. I guess it's good that they were busy (for them), but would have appreciated a phone call to let us know to arrive later. It screwed up our plans cause of movie after. Tables around us were leaving with only eaten appetizers. At least we were all laughing about how bad it was. Our server's assistant was FABULOUS and she placed our app order, etc. Although, we never got the app! Will go again when not a romantic holiday.

    Made a reservation for Valentine’s Day for my husband and I, we called that we were running late the host was polite and said no problem. Once we arrived they said they were behind tables. We waited by the bar and tried getting a drink for half an hour an the bartender did not acknowledge us. The bartender said if you are waiting for a table I cannot serve you you have to wait. I understand it was a Valentine’s Day but they were definitely not ready for a busy night. It was 8:30 we checked at Francesca’s they had a 8:45 and we left and what a difference, Francesca’s was busy on a wait but at the bar they serve us drinks right away and we were seated at 8:55 10min after our reservation. It was our first time at Za Zas and the last. We felt unwelcome. I will say next time for a holiday Zazas should definitely prepare for a busy night and a full staff.

    Awful experience. Arrived in time for our 7:30 reservation. Could barely enter the door because of the people waiting. Checked in. Was not given a buzzer; she said they'll find us. The hostess had no clue how long it would be. We found a spot to stand at the bar near the hostess stand. There were 3 tables for 2 open near us. At 7:50 I asked how we were doing. She checked the list and said it shouldn't be long. BTW, only one of those tables had been filled! At 8:05, they seated the second open table. I returned to the hostess and asked what reservation times they were seating. She said we're still working on 7:45. I told her ours was for 7:30. She scrolled backward and told the runner. They found a booth for us and we were seated at 8:15 with no apology. Ok maybe the hostess was new and their reservation process was dicey. And it WAS Valentine's Day. And I've heard such good things about their food! Our server started out great! Friendly, welcoming. And took 15 mins to get our drink order. The calamari app and Caesar salad were ok. But the Rigatoni we shared was cold. I don't mean luke warm. It was COLD. At this point, I wasn't even hungry. I wanted to tell the server about the food temp but she did not check back with us once! Someone else came and boxed up the rigatoni. The server dropped off the check without so much as a thank you or have a good night! Will not be returning.

    Very disappointed with Valentine's Day meal. They had some servers just quit in the midst of the evening and walk out. They lost one half of the dining room to absolute chaos. The remaining servers tried very hard, but it was a nightmare. Manager came by and checked if anyone had stopped by our table after about 25 minutes or so. Never came back, never apologized, never offered to buy a drink, nothing. The food was good, but we ordered an appetizer of mussels, waited thirty minutes for it until our server told us they were out of mussels and that our entrees were arriving shortly. So no appetizer for you. The entrees were very good, but the overall experience was a real letdown.

    They severely overbooked reservations. So many people standing next to tables. Service was very poor. Had to ask several times for basic dinning items. Drinks were not made to order. Very poor experience.

    Food is always delicious at ZaZa's. Service is good, though when we were there on Saturday evening, things moved a bit more slowly. Tables are a bit close together for my preference. Reservation definitely recommended on the weekend. Great spot in the Lake Barrington area!

    I took friends here for their first time at Za Za's. They very much enjoyed the food. Service was very fast. The ambiance is quiet with low lighting. I would recommend this restaurant without hesitation.

    I enjoyed the Pollo Limone and my husband ordered the rigatoni again because it is consistently very good from visit to visit. Nice portions. Really like the olives and warm, crusty bread offered at every meal.

    We always highly recommend Za Za's to everyone. We arrived a few minutes early, but were seated promptly and immediately acknowledged by our server. We had the outstanding fish special, halibut encrusted with hazelnuts.. Absolutely delicious! As an appetizer, we ordered the special antipasto plate. The meats were sliced paper thin, served on a bed of arugula, grilled artichokes and cubes of delicious parmesan cheese. The tiramisu for dessert paired with a cup of espresso completed our delicious Friday night treat. Our server, Danelle, was very knowledgeable, attentive. Za Za's has a wonderful staff. We are never underwhelmed, always overwhelmed and awed by this wonderful restaurant!

    First time visiting Zaza’s. We sat in the front dining section and it was a nice atmosphere until the music started in the bar area. It was a Thursday night and they had a singer/dj. The music was REALLY loud. The song list was pretty good but the volume level made it difficult for my friend and I to talk at a normal level—in the dining section. Can’t imagine how loud it was in the bar. My friend had the salmon and I had the whitefish. Both entrees were quite tasty and fresh. I had a bourbon cocktail from the specials list and it was good. Salads were fresh and good too. We didn’t have dessert. Our server, Linnea, was attentive and pleasant, and the support wait staff was good about keeping water glasses filled and clearing plates. Service was as expected for this kind of restaurant. I would go again to eat/drink but would check first to avoid the overly loud music/noise level.

    Had a New Years Eve reservation and didn't get seated until over an hour past our scheduled time. The hostess was not very transparent on expectations and the restaurant was very understaffed. We always enjoy going to ZaZa's, but this evening didn't give wasn't not very pleasurable.

    From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with a smile and were seated right away. We were greeted by the server who was happy to answer questions and offer suggestions. It's terrific that others work the holidays so we can enjoy them. From the appetizer, to the main dish, and then the gelato, I recommend the lemon, everything was superb! The wait staff timed everything so nothing got in the way. The evening ended just the same as when we entered. The staff up front wished us a Happy New Year. Thank you ZaZa's!

    Our group of women do our Christmas luncheon at ZaZa’s. We love everything about this restaurant! Our husbands group joined us, but sat separately. This was our choice as we shared gifts. Can’t wait to return.
