Zambri's Ratings and Reviews
We booked our reservation for the first time using open table. I appreciated the email reminder about the date and time.
We arrived at the restaurant and were seated within minutes. It was nice that we were given a choice of seating locations. Naturally we picked the closest one to the bar.
Our waiter attended to us promptly and we settled on some drinks and a starter Cesare salad. He recommended we just split one salad because it was large enough for two.
Our order was taken for the entree and we both enjoyed our meals. My partner loved his crispy pork shoulder. I thought that my dish, chicken with potatoes and Tomato sauce was missing something as far as seasoning but it was still good. The olives were very tasty.
During the course of our meal we were served and attended to by a about 5 people. It’s obvious that they work well as a team.
A shout out to the waitress who paired a perfect wine for my meal. It was indeed full-bodied and a nice compliment to the meal.
Thank you for making our Valentine’s Day a special day.
Our appetizer was a delicious eggplant 'cannoli', which was amazing as usual.
We split an entree of Pescato del Giorno - rock fish with a potato and baccala crust- which was a little disappointing. It wasn't up to the usual excellent standard we have come to know and expect. The puree sauce that covered the dish appeared to be a taupe colour, which wasn't very appealing and the crust on the fish was similar in colour and appeal. It tasted a bit under-done and altogether a bit mushy. We will be back but may be a little less adventurous next time.
Our server made an excellent wine recommendation and staff were friendly and attentive as always. Much thanks to the gaol behind the bar who understands how a sincere 'goodnight can make a customer feel special.
Good atmosphere and great service. None of the food tasted freshly made. Congealed parpadelle cream sauce, Medium temperature lamb/lentils and the creme brule was just okay. Overall, not worth the money and I regret not dining out somewhere else. I could have done this better at home. At least the beer was cold.
We went to Zambri’s on a date for their dine around menu, we chose the $40 selection and I got the lamb. I did not care for it, I found the meat tough and difficult to cut with a steak knife. As well as drowned in the tomato sauce it was served in. It tasted more Czech than Italian. There was also a fair amount of gristle in the lamb chops, I would say more than average. If I were to go back I would try their pasta dishes, I hear that they are excellent. Overall service and the ambience was wonderful.
5 stars to our Server. I am embarrassed to forget her name: Serena? Sampherna? Oh dear. We have brought friends 3 Times this month when she has served us impeccably.
She is studying bio-psychology at Uvic. The brunch menu is unique so we have taken foodies on Sundays for brunch. And Ms S.
Has been a super host.
good food and great service by the fellow who served us. Unfortunately, we were rushed. Even though we had a reservation, we were told by the person who seated us that we would only have the table for 1 1/2 hours. Clearly not a place to go and linger over a meal.
We went for a birthday celebration but did not tell the staff. We didn't go for the dine around but one of use did order from that menu. I felt rushed at the end and no tea or special coffees were mentioned. The bill was brought to us with out asking if we were done. Felt like we were being put into the "dine around" category. Some food items were excellent as they were tasty and creative...main courses were ok and good. Hope to try again another time.
Our experience at Zambri's was very disappointing. We arrived a few minutes early for our reserved table; the restaurant was very quiet with perhaps no more than 3 or 4 tables filled. The woman who greeted us took us to a table which obviously needed clearing and gestured over her shoulder and said, your table is over there, and then proceeded to clear the table. I said, do you mean this table and she didn't respond, just continued clearing the other table. So we took our seats at a table that was set.
Our server did a reasonably good job, although requests for a side plate went unanswered, which made it a challenge to eat the bread and olives which were offered. They were excellent, by the way. Two of our party ordered gnocchi and it was good. The third member of our party ordered a pasta dish with a gorgonzola sauce and stated that altho' the sauce was a good basic cream sauce, she couldn't discern the gorgonzola at all.
Overall, the experience was less than positive. It was a birthday celebration and definitely not a good choice. This is my fourth visit to Zambri's and each time I have hoped that I would be 'wowed', as it has such a good reputation.
I will not be returning. There are too many other good restaurants in the city.
Thanks for the opportunity to review.
I have bee eating at Zambris every time I am in town.Really enjoyed the food at the old location
The menu now is good, not great. Not a lot of Italian traditional dishes, but perhaps that's not the style any more.
Still one of the better restaurants in Victoria.
While the food is usually good, the service on the last three visits has been poor. On our last visit we sat for 45 minutes with only bread rolls before our cocktails even arrived. Multiple people serving the table resulted in incorrect orders, which were hastily corrected on the bill when I was noticed scrutinizing it by one of the wait staff. I used to like Zambri’s but will not return
Prompt, friendly, Excellent service. We always enjoy eating at Zambris- even though it is a bit more of a special occassion to dine out, the prices are reasonable considering the efficient service and wonderful ambiance. Food is great too. Our favorite is the Salcisca(spelling?) Pizza. Yumm!!
Zambris is my go-to place for business lunches. Not so much for dinner. Here’s why, after 2 recent visits:
- Service wasn’t as attentive as at lunch (e.g., filling of water took ages, tea arrived tepid)
- Setting sun hits you directly in your eyes - and there doesn’t seem to be an easy solution
- Food is expensive - no half portions or kids’ menu
- Not enough choice for salads or low-carb options, whereas there are lots (meatballs are amazing) on the lunch menu
We went here on a Sunday evening to celebrate getting engaged! The service and food was great. Staff are super friendly and offered us a free dessert for the occasion which was not expected but certainly a nice treat!! We enjoyed a bottle of prosecco which was served properly and elegantly as well. Thanks Zambris!
Excellent service, lovely ambiance and tasty food. I was a little worried because it seemed to be following a fairly authentic Italian approach, and typically just ordering a pasta dish isn't enough food in an Italian restaurant. But my pasta was a good size, leaving enough room for an appetizer or dessert but not required.
