Great food and atmosphere. With the small, shareable dishes, you can set your own price point. Dishes range from $5 to $20. We had 6 dishes, 4 beers, a mixed drink and 2 desserts. Total was $100 before tip. Definitely worth a try. We will be back.
This restaurant is exactly as advertised. If you are looking for a slightly offbeat, eclectic tapas restaurant with good food and good service you should go there. If you want something else, don't.
Great place with very good food. Different food than lots of your everyday restaurants. Tried the octopus and it was awesome! I will definitely be back
This was hardly my first visit to Zambra; it's one of my wife's and my perennial favorites. Two years running now I've taken her and her children to Zambra for her birthday, and we've been delighted both times. The variety in their tapas offerings is sufficient to please both us and the children...quite a feat! The Brussels sprouts were our favorite, followed by the gnocchi, but you really can't go wrong with just about anything on the menu.
Love this restaurant and the food is amazing. The tapas style is great because you get to try flavor combinations from multiple small dishes. I have had more flavorful tapas at other restaurants but this place doesn't disappoint. The menu is large and always changing which is nice and keeps me coming back.
The service kind of sucks. Every time I have gone the service has been subpar. The tapas concept is new or less familiar to some and the servers need to be patient or willing to walk through the menu instead of being annoyed or making the patron feel like an idiot. I am hesitant to bring friends or people who might not be as familiar with tapas because these ladies make no effort to explain or make newbies comfortable. Coming from a young female myself, I will admit they are all women with attitudes.
Great food in a unique atmosphere. This is our second time eating at Zambra while in Asheville. Love the food choices.
Amazing. The atmosphere was nice, romantic and cozy. My husband and I shared 6 plates and all were outstanding. Highly recommend the trout. Gambas al ajillo (garlic shrimp) and gnocchi tied for the best dishes of the night. Service was good, no complaints there. We've eaten at tons of Asheville spots and this is one of the best.
Nice spot. We end up in Asheville about once a year driving to/from Florida. The "curator" at aloft recommended this place and it was a solid one. We walked over and it was quiet - no more than a quarter full. Karin, our wait person, had great recommendations for us about various tapas, as well how many we'd need to order. They were very tasty, especially the sesame encrusted scallops, mussels, and the chick peas. We had a good time - nice rustic feel to the place. Karin did a great job for us, too. We'll be back.
Everything was absolutely fantastic!
We have reviewed this restaurant before, but being vegetarian and gluten free, we always find many choices on the menu. We keep thinking we will go somewhere else to eat, but always end up back at Zambra's. It has a wonderful ambience, great food, wonderful service usually and a good wine list. We love it there! Thank you for making our choices so easy.
We love the ambience. The food, wine, and service were excellent. Make sure that you do not park in the lot next to the restaurant are you will be towed!
I always enjoy Zambra's. It's one of the very best restaurants in Asheville. Superb food and great atmosphere and staff.
Hostess held our table when winter weather slowed us down, which we greatly appreciated. Every dish was outstanding. A perfect way to celebrate my birthday with my family!
Had a wonderful evening!! Food was great!
At the top our list of Asheville restaurants! Every dish is uniquely flavored, and the pacing of the tapas service is perfect! The acoustics of the space are such that conversation with dining friends is very easy and unstrained. Excellent wines, menu choices, and wonderful food preparation--all complemented by the warm interior niches that make up the dining area. Could not be better!
Ambiance and overall atmosphere was decent. I was displeased with wait staff as they would drop tapas dish at table without explanation, and just didn't seem they wanted to be there. That alone is enough to look elsewhere.
Excellent, as always. Attentive service, great drinks and food. Great location, too.
Amazing food and a very nice atmosphere. Can't wait to go back.
We booked this on blind faith of reviews and were not disappointed. The food was outstanding. And what a charming place. 5 stars all around.
Great date night experience. Superb service and good food.
Excellent San Gria, food, flavors and variety. Our favorite restaurant in Asheville.
I don't know why we waited so long to try Zambra, but am so glad we finally did! We enjoyed every single dish. My favorite was the hangar steak with garlic mashed potatoes. The service was friendly and detail-oriented. We will be back!
My husband and I were in a double date with my brother and sister-in-law and had a great time. Our server was so sweet and helpful. Good was amazing and we will be back for a date night!
Great culinary experience in Asheville. Perfect place to unwind from a stressful day
Nice selection of plates and drinks. Nice and pleasant servers who give you time to enjoy your group.
We enjoyed our dinner at Zambra. The food was quite good, the pork cheeks were AWESOME, the lamb was pretty good, the shrimp was good. The only thing was hat it was really cold in the restaurant. I was pretty cold by the time dinner was over, and my husband was too. That kind of ruined it for me because it was a very uncomfortable walk home, freezing even in my coat because my base temp had dropped so much. Needed two cups of tea when I got home to warm up. And I don't drink tea. Otherwise, the food and service were good.
Zambra was "unable to find" our Open Table reservation when we arrived. Fortunately they had a table available - restaurant was very busy that night. After waiting a while for a server to show up, everything improved quickly. The small plates were all outstanding - flank steak, octopus, scallops, pork stuffed egg rolls, crispy brussels sprouts, sangria, and the flan and flourless chocolate cake desserts. The atmosphere is very interesting - kind of a cavern theme. Might have been romantic but for the loud table of 6 next to us. Overall, I would recommend Zambra.
Our reservation as not ready for 30 minutes which would have been acceptable if we were offered drinks at the bar. They were out of bread that evening and were not offered any replacement until we suggested some olives for the table. We waited for 30 minutes for the first course of our food and then the remaining food came out sporadically which was awkward with a party of six. Also, when tried to order another two entrees they were out of them. The manager did not come around to express his concern. However, the waitress did express her concern with the kitchen getting us our food and she did take off the appetizers ($20) that were delayed. The food was good but the kitchen service just made the evening uncomfortable.
There should be more places like this in Asheville. So cozy. A great place to convene with close friends, try a lot of different foods, and drink wine and cocktails.
This restaurant, which we have visited several times over the years, is very consistent. We've been with friends, for special occasions and just to dine out. The food is good, sometimes too spicy for my taste but not my husband's. There are nightly specials. On the whole, the menu is limited for vegetarians, and for the most part the items don't change. But the ambiance is nice, the place is usually fairly quiet, and we've had many enjoyable meals there.
