Zama Ratings and Reviews
Zama is always reliably great. I chose to take a new friend that was visiting the city for the first time and they were absolutely impressed with the entire experience. The food, as always, is wonderful, and our server, Peter, was outstanding. I never get tired of the beauty of the atmosphere and the dishes.
I came here with my best friend last night for a 9pm reservation. We were seated promptly and the service was impeccable. I personally suggest the edamame, sashimi combination appetizer, entrée salmon and a cute little banana roll for dessert. Will definitely be being my boyfriend here for date night.
Tried Zama for dinner during Center City Restaurant Week and enjoyed it very much. As a matter of fact, I tried to get reservations again the next day but nothing was available until after 9:30pm. I recommended Zama to my son and his friends and they enjoyed it as well. Thanks for a wonderful dining experience.
Zama is one of the best Sushi restaurants in downtown Philadelphia. The service is great. The food is tasty and fresh and it is convenient to both my office and home. I took my daughter and son-in-law out to dinner last night. Couldn't decide what we wanted and I suggested Zama, my go to restaurant when I have no idea what I really want for dinner. My daughter suggested the sizzle roll and the Kennett Square. Both were delicious. The Brussel sprouts have always been one of my favorites as well as their sushi. The selection last night was excellent. While they do not go overboard with presentation as other Japanese restaurants I frequent on the West Coast, they more than make up for it with great food. I highly recommend Zama. It is definitely on a par with Shino Sushi in San Diego were my Japanese friends from Panasonic have taken me.
We are never disappointed at Zama for dinner or lunch. My husband and I do not eat sushi - raw fish - but we do love the selection of vegetable tempura, seafood and meat items offered. We again took two friends who had never been to Zama - one who doesn't eat any meat and the other who only eats meat. Both enjoyed the dinner and were pleased by our restaurant choice. We will return and bring others who have never dined at Zama.
Server was Jonah - knowledgeable about the menu, patient with us being first-time customers and had a few great recommendations.
They did put us at the very last table in the back and the area back there was hot/stuffy but otherwise good experience. Incredible sushi. Try the house Sake as well.
Make a reservation, busy place.
We went for Christmas Eve and were just blown away by how awesome the food was. Not only was it creative, inventive and interesting, but it was just plain delicious! Our server was extremely attentive, the manager stopped by a few times, and we felt well taken care of. We asked our server what was popular and what was worth trying and she steered us to some choices we might not have considered and they were wonderful. Edamame with 5 different kinds of salts?! Great! their sampler of three hand rolls was amazing. We upgraded to "black belt" for a few rolls and it was TOTALLY worth the price. We've eaten in NYC at "the" sushi places and fancy Yellowtail in Vegas and ZAMA exceeds them all.
