Zama Ratings and Reviews
My second, though definitely not my last time to come to Zama. The servers know the menu thoroughly and are quick to offer suggestions which delight the tastebuds. You cannot go wrong with any selection and the black belt options are well worth the value. Thanks for the great experience!!
The best of the best Japanese cuisine experience. Fabulous tasting menu. Each of the 6 dishes was delicious, beautifully presented, and definitely dishes we would not ordinarily order (but are so glad we tasted). Importantly, although we left feeling full and satisfied--we did not feel glutted. In other words, wonderful dining experience.
We'll be back...again ordering the tasting menu.
Waited almost an hour and a half for our food! Waiter had an attitude from the moment we were seated. I️ have eaten at Zama several times before tonight. We put our appetizers in first as the waiter told us the food comes out when ready. I️ have ordered this way every other time I️ have eaten there. Before our appetizers were served we ordered our sushi. We sat and waited for our food for an hour and a half . I️ finally approached the manager and let him know how long we had been waiting for our food. He was shocked and turned and went to the sushi bar. Shortly after our food finally arrived only to be missing some of our sushi. When we were walking out of the restaurant I️ approached the manager and explained my dissatisfaction w the service. I️ let him know I️ has eaten at Zama other times and as a matter of fact just last week. He went in to tell me condescendingly that the waiter told me that the food must be ordered at the same time as the appetizers. In actuality when the server took our order he explained that the food comes out as it’s ready. That was the reason for the hold on the Main sushi order. His response to me was you will know the proper way to order next time. I️ was so taken aback by his attitude I️ let him know there would be no next time. As he walked passed me he said oh well!! I️ was not looking for a free desert or credit off of my bill. A simple explanation like the kitchen is backed up or whatever excuse he could muster up along w an I’m sorry the service wasn’t good tonight. Will never go back!!
My husband and I were in Philly for a weekend getaway and we wanted to have a Saturday night dinner at a nice place. This place totally hit the spot for some amazing Japanese food, both hot and cold/raw options, which was nice for my hubby since he doesn't like sushi. I'd highly recommend!
Of the many Japanese restaurants I have enjoyed both east and west coast, Zama is by far my favorite. Each dish is excellent-flavorful, beautifully presented, original interpretation of classics and new dishes I haven't experiences anywhere else. Highly recommend for special occasions as well as for lunch. If I lived in Philadelphia I would be here weekly. Five Stars for cuisine and service.
