I don’t think many Sushi places in Philadelphia compare to other big cities, but Zama does! It’s the real deal if you want great Sushi in Philqdelphia. I wish they would open in the suburbs!
So I really enjoyed the food; the sushi, steak and cod was absolutely phenomenal. I was not pleased with the service. When I ordered a bottle of wine and water, the server just dropped the water and wine on the table. During my appetizers, the server said that the kitchen was closing and I needed to order my dessert right now when I was still on my appetizer. I obliged but requested my dessert to be fresh, when my desert came out the fluffernutter was cold and she just dropped dessert in the middle of my entre course. For a Rittenhouse upscale restaurant, I am very disappointed with the service. I tipped 20% on a $300 check because I use to work in the service industry but I am not pleased at all with the way I was serviced. Please contact me if you see this review because I believe the food was amazing but the service was horrible.
The tasting menu was great! I have been here a few times, and the sushi is always great.
Delicious food at reasonable price, good service, nice ambience with quiet setting
Amazing food, knowledgeable staff, great atmosphere
Throughly enjoyed the experience staff and generous caring for a birthday celebration
Zama is the best in Philly! Fish was fresh and amazing. Servers are attentive. The best
Great service, thank you.
We will keep returning to Zama for the chef's tasting menu - it is just excellent. An amazing collection of flavors in a quiet environment with great service.
Love Zama! I eat there frequently and enjoy it every time!!
Great menu, nice outdoor seating
Great food. Lots of Covid protection. Noise level is high, but overall it’s worth the trip if you like sushi.
Delicious. We really enjoyed our meal and the service was great!
We had our first indoor dinner at Zama since the pandemic. We had eaten outside and had take out during the lock down, but it was great being inside. The food was excellent - the salmon, Kennett Square mushrooms, evening's specials, desserts, etc. Our waitress was great and explained the menu, made suggestions, etc. Zama is one of our favorite restaurants, and we will be definitely returning soon.
Phenomenal food and service. Definitely worth the price. Our server, Giana, made fantastic recommendations.
Our return to Zama was just as amazing as our first visit. I think the chef's tasting menu is one of the most distinctive elements of the menu. Very creatively prepared and delicious.
Interesting take on Sushi. Would recommend to friends.
Food was great service was awesome, and we got a surprise dessert
The food and service was wonderful! I definitely be coming back!
The crispy noodles at the base of the braised short ribs tasted like it was fried in old oil which was disappointing. Overall good sushi.
Great food, with the worst service I have experienced in years.
It wasn’t all that great to warrant $$$. The best part was the dessert. Everything else was average. The bao bao bao buns were probably the next best. Drinks were good.
Our server Bryan was great though!
Food was excellent. Our server, Merci, was very helpful and attentive.
Our go to restaurant in Philly… always good! Great atmosphere and food!
The short ribs, branzilla and Giana!
All were amazing!
My spouse and I ate at Zama on Saturday, June 12th. We are from Washington DC and have dined at numerous Sushi restaurants in our area. We concluded that the sushi at Zama was amongst the very best, if not the best, that we have eaten. It was all very fresh and so creative. Our server, Gianna, guided us to most of our selections. She was attentive without being intrusive and so very pleasant. By choice we dined outside and the only downside was that the street isn’t the most attractive but the food and service more than made up for that. Highly recommend.
Great food. Lindsey was super helpful and awesome. Definitely recommend!
Food and service were great, waitress and host were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely come back for the Specialty rolls.
Food was great and the waitress was very helpful in walking us through the menu and making good recommendations. They were out of the speciality drink we asked for but overall a great experience, but you do pay a premium for that experience
Excellent food. Great, friendly service. Servers knowledgeable and gave great advice on menu selections.
The food was delicious. We had a selection of small plates. I loved the veg dumplings. Also good drinks. Service was slow because the place is understaffed. Our server tried really hard to make it a good experience.
Ambiance outdoors is not great. Small tables near the bldg, no booths. Hi-tops for 4 in the street with only a rope barrier, exposed to traffic. Lots of people were dining indoors in AC, unmasked. Ironically, people on the outside were required to wear masks when they went inside to the host or the restroom.
Great food. Calamari salad outstanding. Maki and sushi great. Not MY Dad's Manhattan great. Service fast, friendly and efficient.
Excellent, high quality sashimi. And the salad with avacado was better than expected.
The food and the service is always excellent!
What a pleasant time we had, some of our party was late and while we waited we were well taken care of and not rushed at all. Had yummy appetizers and fresh tasty rolls from the lunch menu plus mixed drinks and the best pistachio cheesecake dessert I’ve ever had! Also, make sure to ask for Gianna to be your server - she’s gonna take great care of u!!
I've yet to be disappointed with a meal here. Last night we enjoyed a wonderful dinner that included exceptional shrimp shumai and fresh edamame to start. We opted for several Maki rolls, and each one was at outstanding. We even decided to add another roll because we enjoyed the first ones so much.
As always, service was terrific. In addition to a friendly and attentive server, the manager was engaging and helpful from start to finish.
I would highly recommend Zama for their sushi, service, and ambience. It is, without question, the best sushi available in the Philadelphia area, and for an extremely reasonable price. I would strongly urge you explore the items other than sushi on this wonderful menu.
Everything we ordered was delicious!
Gianna was our server and she was wonderful!!
It was my first time to visit this restaurant. I tried Wasabi Tuna, Surfer, Spicy Crunchy Grilled Avocado, Hummus-San Temaki, Washabi Truffle Escargot, and Sushi Sashimi Combination. I expected good tastes from each one but each one was really disappointed except Wasabi Truffle Escargot but No wasabi flavor even thought it says Wasabi. Nome of rolls was good and the worst one was grilled avocado.. Sashimi was okay but each nigiri uses small fishes.. Learn bad experience with spent $250..
Chef Zama and his staff create the most delicious and eclectic sushi and sashimi dishes of any sushi restaurant we have visited. They also have delicious cooked foods. Their chirashi is phenomenal. My husband and I go at least once a week. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly and courteous. We highly recommend this fine restaurant!
