   Easter dinner was delicious. Service was great. Dana was an attentive and kind server.

   Even though we had a reservation, we had to wait an extra 15 minutes to be seated. However, once we sat down, the serve was great and the food was delicious. It is a bit expensive, but worth it in my opinion.

   This is one of our favorite Italian spots. Food is always fresh and delicious. Love all the fish dishes.

   Starting with the good stuff - our server was very attentive. We did ask for a carafe of water, since we tend to drink quite a bit, but that wasn't something that they could give us. However, she as well as the other staff ensured our glasses stayed filled the whole time. She was quick to refill the bread and to respond to any request that we had. The not so good ... was the food. I will admit - we are terribly spoiled by the ZaZa's in Lake Barrington so we arrived with high expectations. This place got OK ratings but it was like a cafeteria version of the food we are used to. Starting with the salad plates - one was delivered to the table smeared with butter and crumbs. And it was chilled - so someone put it in the refrigerator dirty! The Insalata alla ZaZa is one of our favorite items - it was about 2/3rds the size and a dollar more. The cucumbers had been frozen so they were mushy and the dressing seemed so watered down that it really didn't have any flavor. Usually we fight over the last couple of bites and mop up the dressing with the bread - but we didn't this time. The Chicken Romana was like soup chicken reheated under a broiler and doused with a greasy, sauce that was both overwhelming and underwhelming. The eggplant from the parmesan seemed like it might have been prepared the previous day and the patties had been sitting in grease until they were stacked with sauce and heated with the cheese on top. The marinara sauce on the eggplant was really decent - but the grease from frying the eggplant spoiled it. I can't vouch for the Rock Shrimp Aioli because I didn't have any, but they were tiny shrimp a little bigger than the size of a quarter. The batter on them was a pale yellow-ish beige - definitely not crispy. She ate them plain because she said the chili sauce was spicy but without any flavor and she didn't care for the aioli. We skipped dessert so I can't comment on that. Note: We were the first seating on a Saturday night.

   I have been to ZaZa’s many times but last night and have always enjoyed both the service and the food. Last night I ordered the white fish and was shocked by the small portion…..barely a few mouthfuls. We were there for a birthday, so I didn’t make a fuss. Hoping this was an anomaly.

    Have been here many times over several years. Enjoy the room and atmosphere. It does seem like both the service and food (unless you stick to pasta) is not as good as it was unfortunately. Very noisy on weekends
