We came here on vacation for my birthday celebration and it was awesome!!!
I have gluten sensitivity and was frankly, nervous!!
Called, and they briefly said they truly do have gf options.
Sad I didn’t get his name, but host/server guy with great hair and skin and personality gave great recommendations!!! I had spicy clams with a side of steamed veggies and white rice. Sooooo good!!!
If you were wondering where the world's supply of peppers is hiding, this restaurant is the place to look.
Was great! Love this place! Bring people from all over the world to dine here! Amazing food and location! Will be back
Made a reservation for 6:30PM but wasn't able to make it by that time so I called and they were kind enough to change it to 6:45PM instead. Ambiance was Chinese-sy as expected. Not posh, so no need for formal wear. Mapo tofu was tongue numbing but wasn't over spicy. Overall food was better than expected.
Probably the best Chinese restaurant in CA. Often quite a wait but the food is so good!
Food was made for round eyes. ABC would not like. Not worth it.
If you like spicy asian the food is great. Space and ambiance not so much. We wish we could find this quality / authenticity of asian food in a more upscale dining experience.
Excellent experience !!
Most authentic Sichuan food in SF. Menu has gotten more random in the last 2 years as it's become more popular, to appease the masses.
But the food is still good. The service is no good, but of course that's part of the package, and something you learn to celebrate.
Get the Sichuan dishes and skip all the others. If you don't know what's Sichuan just ask the waiter.
Foods here are really good, waiters are also nice!
As always Z&Y delivered! This is our 5th time this year alone...love this place.
The food was fantastic and the service was impeccable! The prawns and spicy sauce lived up to expectations! Chow mein was delicious!
Disappointed in this restaurant. It was busy and the service was just about acceptable. All our appetisers and entrees came at the same time. The food itself was edible but far from special. It was reasonably priced but I would not visit again.
Very disappointing. Both the egg flower and hot and sour soups were almost tasteless. Three of the dishes ordered arrived 15 minutes before the fourth entree. The pop was warm with no offers of ice. I had to ask twice for forks. No soy sauce. No steamed rice with the entrees, and we were asked to move our chairs twice because the table positioning was in the waiters' ways. The dish advertised as prawns was more like medium-sized shrimp. The waiters never even stopped by to ask if the food was ok. To add insult to injury, they tacked their own tip on to the bill, and we were only a party of 4. Never again.
Spicy Food is excellent
Peking duck was fabulous. Also recommend the green beans.
The line was out the door early, which we took as a good sign (and it was). The place was full of couples and families as well as locals from the neighborhood. The food was delicious, but the service wasn't the greatest and the space was pretty bare and a little worse for the wear. Fantastic local neighborhood spot regardless. After eating some very good food, you'll leave with some pretty good stories too.
Excellent food, had the scallion pancakes & fish boiled in spicy sauce. It was really good. The serve you a pot of tea, which is a nice touch. Make a reservation because the wait is long. I would definitely go back.
We were pleasantly surprised and enjoyed it all. Schezewan food is not usually what we are exposed to, so we let the waiter order for us.
Excellent food, the best we had in San Francisco on our vacation. We were adventurous and even tried the frog!
Shrimp was so over cooked. Dumplings were great. Beers were never served but were on the initial bill.
After dinning in Z & Y I believe that the Asian cuisine in My City needs to learn how to cook.
Thank You Z & Y.
Felt rushed, beer was warm :( and everything was covered in corn starch.
Best thing was the spicy steamed dumplings though.
Not respect the open table reservation at all, we had to Wait in line again even we had reservation and arrived in time
Outstanding meal. We absolutely loved the dumplings in hot chili oil! The chow mien was excellent, and the beef dish in hot chili oil was also melt in your mouth delicious. We all were so happy that we decided to eat a Z&Y! We will definitely be back! Thank you!!
Everything was fantastic. Very authentic flavours. Definitely get the fish in boiled water/oil.
We chose this restaurant for out of town visitors based on the location and the reviews. Unfortunately this is just a tourist trap. Alice Waters may eat here, but not the food we were served. We went out of our way to ask for their best dishes, but if that's what we were served, ugh. Very sorry we ate here.
Outstanding food, excellent service. Great value and worth the trio of you like Chinese food
Marvelous food, especially if you are into a hot and spicy Szechuan fare. Price is right.
Great food, fun service, totally enjoyable
Delicious & fresh neighborhood restaurant in the heart of China town. Looked like many locals ate there which is always good. Waiter helped us choose from big menu & loved our dishes.
Spicy wonton ( soft), Chili covered chicken & eggplant with basil.
Go early for lunch if you want a seat. Service fast & friendly.
The menu offers top notch Szechwan cuisine, creatively prepared and first class presentation. Very diversified menu and has the reputation as one of the best Chinese restaurants in San Francisco. Hunan garlic pork is delicious as are the onion cakes.
Z&Y provided a great meal for my family and friends. The restaurant was very busy but they managed to seat my party within 10 minutes of our reservation, even though we had upsized our table from four to SIX just hours before.
The servers were very helpful with helping us select a good array of items from the menu. The food was well-prepared and coursed out. Flavors were bright and clean. The highlights included the dan dan noodles, beef in spicy chili oil, and dry-friend pork intestines. We were very full and happy customers. Even the wine we ordered was delicious -- a welcome surprise at a casual Chinese restaurant! I wholeheartedly recommend Z&Y.
Great szechuan style food in a typical Chinatown style atmosphere. The service was better than expected given some other reviews and the food delivered as expected.
The food was AMAZING! Don't you dare to come without a reservation. The place is tiny tiny. The big BUT is the service, at least today they brought each plate at the time and we were four, that made it complicated. Tip, bring cash and you'll get a 5% discount.
Do yourself a favor and get: 1) tan-tan noodles and 2) chicken with exploding chili pepper
An early New Years Eve meal with two young kids. Our server was super good. But I found the food in general more greasy and less fresh than I'd expect. As if the kitchen was a smaller finishing and fryer station rather than a full professional kitchen.
Moo shu pork was outstanding.
If you are looking for authentic Szechuan in San Francisco, this is the place. It is popular however, which is to say it can get crowded. We've always been seated in a timely manner with reservations though.
We were seated right away due to our reservations while there were twenty people waiting outside for a table. If you like spicy food this is your place. Portions are on the small side for Chinese restaurants.
