Yusho - Monte Carlo - Permanently Closed Ratings and Reviews
Food has deteriorated meaningfully from my initial visits to this place in 2015-16. Our ramen was not hot enough and our Korean BBQ drummers were slightly undercooked. They have sharply raised prices over the last year (ramen went from $16-17 to over $20) and removed a number of their key items from the menu, like their draft cocktails. I won't be back
Food was terrific. It was pretty empty on a Thursday night, which was a surprise, but it didn't affect the food. Really enjoyed the meal. While some may balk as spending more than $10 on ramen -- the ramen here really is great. The broths are super rich and deep, without being overly oily. Servers were very friendly and everything was very prompt.
I was so excited to try this restaurant, but ended up being very disappointed. Many menu items were gone from the menu and the existing items were not very good. The only + was the service, which was very good. I would recommend passing on this one and checking out the ramen place in the food court...it's better. :(
We had reservations at 7:30 pm, we ordered right away but then we sat for an hour and 10 min waiting for our dinner, we asked the wAiter why it was taking so long, we had a concert at 9:00!pm upstairs, he said the cooks can only make 6 ramens at a time. The food was great the service sucked!
This place was okay. The chicken wings were good, but it took about 15 minutes for anyone to come to our table. No water, nothing. We almost left. The food isn't worth the cost. You're better off at one of the better Asian restaurants on the strip. And could probably expect better service.
Yusho has done an amazing job of pairing really good flavour combinations together. A great mix of sweet, savoury, spicy , crisp, cool. All of the dishes we had were so tasty! Make sure to leave room for the ice cream and honey toast for dessert...do not pass this up!
Tasty Raman with tiny portions and ridiculously over-priced menu.
The Raman was good, and that's important, but the service was strange, the portions were super small (come on , Raman noodles aren't expensive), and the value was not good. $19 Raman should be in a big bowl and really taste impressive. I would not go back.
Each dish was delicious and expertly prepared. Of note, were the kimchi selections and the grilled octopus which was delectably moist and fork tender, a rare achievement among the myriad of restaurants with an octopus dish these days. The chef at Yusho handled the protein with expert knowledge and care - kudos!
I love a hip vibe but the music was deafening and when I asked about turning it town was told "I will ask the manager but she will probably say 'no.'" Meat in the buns was tough, dumplings were quite greasy, and lamb and pork belly seemed over-spiced and very similar in taste. Chicken wings and tempura were OK, but nothing beyond what you would get at an average Asian buffet. The service was pretty good but the atmosphere and food were not. Overall, given this place had a good review from a local critic, I was very disappointed. When you compound that with the congestion from the new stadium and "Park," and the new MGM policy requiring you to pay to park, it adds up to "never again."
When in Vegas is quite difficult to find a location that meets your needs of healthy food and good service without spending a fortune! Yusho is one of those rare exeptions. Located in the Monte Carlo Casino, with a very nice view on the Strip. Yusho is just the place to be! The food is simply amazing, the service is perfect and the staff is very friendly. Try the Ramen, it is a must. We had also
eggplants and tuna as starters and they were both delicious!!! Looking forward to going there again!!!!
I was so excited to visit this restaurant after reading the reviews, checking out the menu, and seeing the advertisements on The Strip. I loved the atmosphere when we arrived, especially since we came early before the big rush. We ended up splurging and ordering a huge variety of food because we wanted to try a little of everything. The food was extremely disappointing; it lacked flavor, some parts overcooked, other parts undercooked. We left every dish less than half eaten! The service was even worse. Our waitress was very dismissive, forgot multiple things we ordered without apologizing, and never even asked how the food or service was.
We had the tasting menu which was very generous. it was chefs choice with a few of our preferences in mind. The kitchen super exceeded our expectations as everything was delicious with a thoughtful. beautiful presentation. All of the dinnerware is hand thrown pottery and was rustic & elegant at the same time. The sparkling sake, IPA and wRm sake were outstanding. The deserts were also notable. A tofu stuffed doughnut on a purple yam purée. An Elvis banana soft serve with peanut butter cooked and chocolate covered bacon. Steam buns to die for and I could go on and on. If you are adventurous and love those who love their craft do not miss this stop.
My son and I wanted to try the place because it had several very good write-up's; however, I don't know what those folks were thinking. My ramen portion was small (now I know why they sell additional ramen as a side), cost $16 and wasn't any better than the stuff you buy at the grocery store. My son order the lamb which came out on two small skewers that were about the size of an appetizer. He said the tast was pretty good, but that was about the best you could say. As for the restaurant, its small, dingy, and our waiter spent all of his time talking to a group of six folks who wanted to do Saki Bombs with expensive Saki.....needles to say we did't see him until he brought the bill to us. Not making that mistake again; there was a great looking Japanese Restaurant at the MGM Grand across the street. Wish we had gone there.
The food itself (ramen, pork buns, skewers) were all pretty good. To be fair it could have been maybe amazing but our food was not super hot as it was waiting to be picked up by our server. We were starving and there was only about 3-4 tables seated and we literally watched our food sit on the pass for a good 5 min before it was picked up, warm ramen is not so yummy.
Overall, it could have been a great meal and experience but the FOH staff seemed to be more interested in chatting than serving.
We originally had a reservation at a french restaurant along the Vegas strip but decided to go somewhere a little more casual. We were staying at the Monte Carlo and I had read great reviews about this restaurant and we were definitely impressed. They had great "draught" drinks which were actually cocktails that they pre-made in batches to allow the flavors to develop. I will say this is more of a "tapas" restaurant where you get a number of small plates which is what my fiance and I prefer. The buns are awesome along with the rice and ramen. The server was very informative and honest about the food we were served. If I were to go back to vegas I would definitely get a meal here again.
