This past experience may have been an anomaly as my other dining experiences at Ysabel have been great. On this particular evening it was quite busy however my client and I found ourselves having to consistently flag down the server to get what we needed. While our main courses were good, dessert was really subpar. I’m hoping this was a one time situation however now will think twice before entertaining clients here.
Food, atmosphere and wine and drinks all outstanding as usual. I brought my wife for the first time (she was going to kill me if I didn't bring her soon) and met up with some old friends. We shared everything and had some great wine and there honestly wasn't one thing that didn't taste really delicious. We had the flat bread (salted butter and olive tapenade...mmmmm), Octopus and a salad for apps and then moved up to 4 pasta dishes, basically one of each one on the menu. The truffle one is delicious and the oxtail ragu was as well. Don't forget your wallet as it's definitely a $100 a person kind of spot if you do it right.
I really enjoyed Ysabel and thought the food was fantastic. I went with a couple girlfriends and we shared some plates. My favorite was the brussel sprouts. My only complaint is that while we were eating I kept smelling smoke and when we left I realized there is a courtyard area right outside the door and it was filled with people smoking, which came right into the restaurant. Gross.
This place was a huge disappointment. We arrived at 9pm and did not receive the majority of our order until 11pm. When the food finally arrived it was missing flavor. We had to send three dishes back because we could not eat them they were so bad. The only reason we stuck around was to wait for the truffle pasta, however, it was also a disappointment. The drink orders arrived, but they were wrong, twice. We are leaving Ysabel disappointed and hungry.
I have been coming to Ysabel for the past several years and always enjoyed the food and dining experience. For some reason this visit was not quite the same. Unfortunately, our server didn’t come to our table until about 15 to 20 minutes after we sat down, our drinks were late coming to the table and the service was just so poor. Ysabel is one my favorite restaurants and hopefully I will have a much better visit next time.
Service was terrible, our food came out semi-cold. I ordered just a soda and had to cancel it because it took 30 minutes to ask what the status was and was given an excuse on the bar being backup. It took over an hour to order food and I believe our waitress only came to our table three times the whole two hours of our stay. Also ordered potatoes and never received the requested ketchup for them. And I had put we were celebrating my birthday and they, not once, acknowledge it, hence, I am not sure why they even ask if you are celebrating anything. Worst birthday dinner ever!
The restaurant was very glamorous. Super cool. Food was good. We had reservations and were seated right away. Waitress had a bit of an attitude but she warmed up. They did ask if we wanted just tab water, bottled water or sparkling. Are we back in the 80's and the water ridiculousness? Seriously that was so dated and the server couldn't believe we just wanted TAB WATER. Best Brussels sprouts ever.
I have been here before but this time service was absolutely terrible. Our server ignored our table for about 10 minutes and no one picked up our dirty plates for at least that long. It took more than 10 minutes to get water when we asked three times and we were never asked for more drinks. Additionally the server forgot some of the food items that we ordered. When we mentioned it he put the order in and it came after all of the entrees were done. The entrees took a very long time and we had one guest who eventually had to leave. The server was not empathetic at all. We were with clients and it was extremely embarrassing.
This gem is a great place for drinks or dining. The space has a beautiful indoor/outdoor feel. During the day it’s a bright, outdoor oasis centered around olive trees. At night the lighting is cool and romantic. The kitchen is innovative and original without being too esoteric or precious. Prices are in line with what you’d expect from a place with a hip, modern vibe, offering two bars and delicious food.
Every time I book a table on Open table, Ysabl seems to be giving us one of their worst tables for dinner while if I call, I get a nice spacious table. Not sure if this intentional to encourage us to call rather than using Opentable but I believe that should be addressed.
Great dinner, beautiful spot. The food was delicious. Our server could've been a bit more attentive. They didn't even give us a candle for my bday dessert -- my friend went to ask for one, which was pretty hilarious. Anyway, I still love Ysabel and will return.
Ysabel is clearly a hot spot for the WeHo locals and the outdoor courtyard seating was the perfect setting. The wine list was good, as were the drinks, service and general buzz of the restaurant. Lit by fairy lights and candles this created enough shadows and corners for people to stay annoynmous whilst eating in a busy, cool venue. The food was ok, I think I expected something a bit more special with the Hamachi Sashimi starter a Nobu copy and the scallops with tikka masala really not working. Although the sesame shrimp was worth the trip out. I would definitely go back but would probably stick to the wine and a steak whilst secretly people watching.
We all decided on having a main dish so we limited the number of starters we ordered but everything was really delicious so we could have made a meal of just starters. We had the crispy shrimp, avocado salad and the octopus - all were great and very different from one another.
Will definitely be back.

Daughters birthday celebration:
Sat for 40 minutes before getting up (embarrassing for me) to find our waitress to take our DRINK order. Drinks and food then came real fast, was fine but not great. Bill came, had to get up AGAIN after another 20 minutes for her to come pick up our credit cards. (Advice: Don't plan to attend a show after going here.) Best part is the decor and ambience. Overrated as far as service and food. Manager not too concerned about any of it.
We got a table inside in a corner which wasn't really fun. Only one table next to us so it really didn't feel nice. The food was ok but what made the experience bad was the service. It took ages to get everything we ordered, I even had to cancel my last drink after waiting over 20min for it. My cheese plate came with no bread, sorry but very weird to me. When I asked for bread they looked annoyed and it took them 15min to bring me two small toast. The outdoor looked really nice but we didn't get to enjoy it.

La cena es "buena" pero el servicio es lento.
Muy sangronas en reservas y en recibirte.
Y lo peor😱🙃🙃es que al final de la cena , encontramos un par de cucarachas!!!!!
Evitó La foto, el manager en lugar de aceptarlo de inmediato , disculparse y resolverlo... se puso a discutir q hacía calor y es un lugar con plantas😱😱.
Al final ajustó la cuenta, lo cual no me conforto en lo más mínimo, ni lo recomiendo ni podré volver.
Me quedo con una sensación muy desagradable.
We waited 45 minutes to be seated when we had a reservation. The host and hostess had horrible snob attitude. Waiters were never smiling. They almost threw plates on yhe table. When we were finished with starters they collected forks and knives and served the mains without putting a new set of fork and knives. Took them some time to do it even after we asked. So overall the great food has been diminished by attitude and capability of the greeting & service team.
