Reserving at the restaurant gets you reserved seating for the concert, which is what we did. Food was good--beyond the usual sushi bar fare. Excellent calamari tempura. Waiter was informative and attentive. My only complaint is that we ended up too close to the stage to see the performers--I prefer to sit toward the back and next time will say so.
We had tickets to a performance in the theater part and decided to make dinner reservations because that allows you the privilege of reserved seats for the show. The food was underwhelming for both of us. It wasn’t disgusting or anything, but we would never go back and drop >$100 for 2 entrees and 2 glasses of wine that weren’t even really delicious.
First time at Yoshi's and definitely not the last. EVERY member of the staff was great; I was late called to advise and the hostess on the phone was very nice and personable, our server, water person, ticket checker, usher, bartenders were absolutely AWESOME. We came to see Angie Stone; great seats right at the stage; concert ok; it was the last night. The wonderful service from the Yoshi staff will not even allow me to complain of the short mediocre performance (again it was the last night). I WILL BE BACK!!!!!! Oh yeah, we sat at the bar thru the second show and I went back in to send a message to the band member you staff person was very nice and he delivered the message. TOP NOTCH staff at Yoshi's!!! Parking is great also.
The food was better than I remembered however not the service...I don't know if it was personal but the waitress clearly did not want to be there. I'm not looking for "all lovey" but an occasional smile, how are you doing or welcome to Yoshi s would've been a good start. I was ready to leave 20 min, but I was there for the concert. So yes, there was an improvement but they still have a long way to go.
Went here for my friends birthday dinner. Our waitress was not friendly and took a long time to get our order. We even had to flag her down for the check. Food was delicious.
Overall I enjoy Yoshis. The food is good. The service is good. During busy events , a co -waiter might be helpful to assist with getting seat assignments and closing bills.
The only thing I didn't like was the seating in the dining arear. It was to close together making it hard to move from your table once the area is full. Our server and service was spot on in the middle of what seemed to be chaos. Water glasses stayed filled and requests we're handled fast. Angie Stone was magnificent!
Been going to Yoshi’s since I was a little girl and I always take my friends and family that visit. I even go alone. If you love music you will love Yoshi’s.
Not good for babies. The babies menu came in late. I ordered 3 steaks, I only got 2. I ordered the tempura, they did not come out with the ordered rice - they don't ask you if you want food to come out together. Food is not very good. It's mundane and not something I would pay too much on. Date maybe ok... but not romantic because it's too loud and crowded. I'm not coming back. Nothing is free here even if it's your bday. Just not happy
Had a great time. Good food & great entertainment afterwards (Angie Stone).
Having dinner at Yoshi's before a show is a MUST. (For those who don't know, Yoshi's restaurant is part of Yoshi's Jazz/Blues night club.) While you're dining they assign your seating for the show and the seating assignments for diners is always better than non-diners. At our most recent visit we had one of the best show tables in the house.
As for the food, it's unsurpassed Japanese cuisine. Super creative and super tasty. And they're cocktail specials are always a treat.
Yoshi's dinner and a show is a true 5 star experience for us.
Hello: My wife and I went to dinner here. Unfortunately for the establishment the show was cancelled and the restaurant was not full. The sushi and salad that we had was exceptional. The Waiter was very, very pleasant and effective. We had a nice discussion with the Waiter from Peru. He was a very nice young man who was very courteous and very pleasant. We look forward to our next visit to Yoshi's. It is a real treat to yourself.
Grand time at Yoshi’s, the place, our space, the service, the food - everything! Thanks kindky, will be back soon! Cordially Gail & family 😎
service was terrible. my food was cold and they took too long to bring me another place which was equally as cold. The waiter didn't even offer to do anything to make my experience better. not even a dessert or a drink! just said "oh, that's too bad!"... the food used to be very good and the sushi was fresh. it's just so commercial now and no thought about their customers... just want to get them in and out!
Caught dinner & a show. Love that you can dine and have them save your seats. Service is super fast so you never have to worry about missing the show. Dessert & drink service during the performance is a perk. Love that I can bring my kids to this venue.
Great waitress and great show, but they need some help with the sound for the show.
Flawless experience as always.
I go to Yoshi’s for the musical acts! The food is mediocre and high priced ~ however to get a good seat for the concerts, you have to eat in restaurant or at the bar.
Very organized for people who go to music events after dinner in terms of seat allocation. Except sushi and sashimi options, many choices are which do not require so much workload in the kitchen and are less healthy. I would suggest that they switch to more healthy options like braised fish and pork.
From dinner to the show, the experience the six of us had was wonderful. I was the only one who had been to Yoshi's, so I knew, but my friends did not and they all stated that their experience was through the roof! Our food was delicious, and special note: please make sure Oleta Adams ALWAYS comes back to Yoshi's. I have always been a fan, and she puts on an amazing show. Thank you Yoshi's...we will definitely repeat our visit.
Yoshi's didn't disappoint. The people were great from the greeters upon entering to the entire wait staff. Our waitress was Selena. They all made our journey to Yoshi's one big, pleasant memory we shall always cherish!
Restaurant menu is limited and hasn't changed in a long time, but items are well cooked and presented. There are good fish options - a big plus! But the prices are high for a modest portion with no accompaniments. The convenience of dining there and reserving a seat for the show is what makes it good, but next time I go to a show there I'll save money and eat elsewhere.
Have dinner and they will reserve your seats for the show.
They have good food in the show room too, but limited menu.
Awesome service, food and music. Had a great time!
We always eat here before the show and find enough choices to keep the group satisfied. The strength is the seafood off the grill: Bass and Cod in particular. They were both delicate and well spiced and we appreciated the sides. We had to get the attention of the server now and then, but overall, we felt well served. The rollout from the kitchen was uneven; i was almost finished with my food before my husband had his.
It was great.
It’s crowded and noisy but the food was great
Yoshi’s food was good enough, the Uní was spectacular(my favorite) service was slow. The ambiance was good, but the noise level was very high.. difficult to have a conversation.
The music after dinner with Omar Sosa was a delightful sensory experience!!
The food was good! I particularly liked the vegetable tempura and sushi. The menu encourages sharing. Great meal with wonderful entertainment.
Great venue!!!!!!!!! We go here often for dinner and show.
I had the miso sauce blackcod. I prefer the traditional marinated misosauce grilled blackcod.
Spur of the moment drive from Chico. We stay at the Waterfront and walk over. Great date !
Friendly, informative service and creative takes on sushi combinations made this a great experience. Everything we ordered was delicious!
One caveat for those attending the concert before or after dining: order whatever you want the first (and only) time the waiter comes by. We did not understand, and the waiter during the concert did not make clear, that there would not be a second chance.
Good for date night. After a nice meal you can take in world class jazz or, if it’s warm, walk in Jack London Square.
The dinner + concert experience is great. You get checked as soon you arrive the restaurant. We ordered the Sea Bass, it was delicious. For the time we tried Lobster Roll we enjoyed, I never had sushi rolls before. I will probably return there to try more options from the menu.
We had a wonderful meal here before a jazz performance at Yoshi's Jazz Club. We ordered a variety of dishes and shared everything. Every dish was great, but especially the salmon. We would recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys Japanese cuisine.
We went there for a concert. The restaurant was nice, and servers were professional. And we enjoyed the concert. Will return for another concert
we love coming to yoshi's for the music and Eliane Elias was great. we enjoyed the food and our server Francisco was most pleasant, helpful and efficient!
We had a very nice time and will be back. Our waiter was very attentive and knowledgeable about the restaurant. We had one question as to why they served Hess white and not the red wine. We also attended the concert after our meal.
Thanks for an enjoyable evening.
See you soon...
I enjoyed my first experience dining and live musical performance at Yoshi's In Oakland, California's, Jack London Square. Convenient parking, Welcoming manager, and clean restroom. Great wine selection.
