Father’s Day, food and drinks were good. Had a very pleasant experience
Our server was sooo suave , sooo professional and understood the menu items. He clearly spoke knowlegably when asked about drinks and entree items Yay, Oakland!!!!
I LOVE COMING TO YOSHI'S, ITS ALWAYS A PLEASANT ATMOSPHERE..
We had dinner and went for the Lyfe Jennings show; both were great. The service at the show was a little lacking, but, overall, it was a good time, the food was delicious and the service in the restaurant was great. I will definitely recommend and be back!
We attended many concerts at Yoshi’s and always make reservations for dinner. I am a vegetarian and would like to have more vegetarian options rather than fried veggies and or spicy veggies. Other than that I love Yoshi’s.. it’s great
Try the Spicy Tuna & rhe 49'er Rolls, they are excellent!
My wife and I came in from about forty miles away to see Elvin Bishop. We had dinner before hand and the food was excellent! Appetizers were incredible, (beef skewers). the entrees, salmon and rib eye steak were perfect. Our waiter, Ben, was very cordial and recommended the salmon to my wife, who was having a bit of difficulty deciding on dinner. Ben also reserved our table for the concert, (front row, about five feet away from the band). This was great, although there are no bad seats here.
Definitely a great time, and we've been here for dinner and concerts before, but this was the best!
We we're disappointed with the very slow service - up to and including getting the check.
Sorry - we are loyal Yoshi's guests, and we're sadly disappointed with our last visit.
The bar was backed up so we got our "before dinner" drinks half way through the meal. There were four of us dining. The fourth entree came after three of us finished our meal. Not a good experience
stringy hamachi sashimi. loud. Only eat at Yoshi's to get reserved seats for show.
Yoshi's Japanese restaurant has delicious Japanese food, the service is excellent, and the waitresses and waiters are friendly and helpful. Yoshi's is also a jazz club, and if you have dinner at the restaurant you automatically have the best reserved seats for the jazz shows. A perfect evening is dinner and a night of fine jazz music in the same venue. You can also order food and drinks within the jazz club, but you don't get preferred seating.
I usually eat here before one of their amazing jazz shows. Service tonight was pretty slow for a 50% full restaurant. Reservations at 6:15, show at 8. Barely made it in time. They’re usually better.
Meal and service were good. Enjoyed the show there after dinner.
We took our cousin who lives in Berlin for dinner and live music. We all enjoyed our evening a great deal and would love to do it all over again the next time she visits with us. Yoshi's is a great experience.
Wonderful evening, food is consistently outstanding.
I LOVE Yoshi’s!!! I have been coming to Yoshi’s for years and the food, atmosphere and shows are still outstanding!!!
Good food and great service. Recommend eating there before watching a concert to get decent seats.
We dine and go to the show there approx 6-8 times a year.. the food is great.. the shows are very nice.. the only thing about the dining ( for 2) is that the tables are very cramped ( unless we are fortunate enough to get a booth area) which is a bit better.. if the food all comes at once .. there is no room on the table.. I ask to spread the meal service out.. that seems to help.. last time I forgot to ask at the moment we ordered and it was too late to change .. so said our server.
Our Family regularly looks forward to Yoshi Venues, and we always plan
dinner beforehand. Bar/ Dinner Staff are exceptional (&)accommodating.
EugeGroove is an outstanding artist. Our only improvement would be
that the Concert open seating not be S-O-O close . Thanks for a great
Having dinner at Yoshi’s before our jazz concert was the perfect night out. The food was delicious, and came out of the kitchen very quickly. The server was great, and we all appreciated the lovely booth reserved for us for our show while we were having dinner.
We were there to see the Count Basie Orchestra with friends. The seating was arranged well,
the meal was good, the wait staff was attentive and efficient, the band was outstanding and so we had a good time. It doesn't get much better than that. We'll be back.
Night out with Wifey, everything perfect as usual although this is the first time our server was maybe overwhelmed forgot we asked for wine had to ask for forks was not available when we asked for something we needed, he could have paid better attention to us which your restaurant has always done when we dine there.
Yoshi's is my go to place for special occasions. The food is always great and the service friendly and attentive.
We love to have dinner at Yoshi's before a show. It's great food and drinks and you can reserve your seats early.
The three of us have eaten at Yoshi's many, many times. We have never had a less than perfect food item served to us! Highly recommended!
Excellent service are you friendly atmosphere awesome
The food was fantastic, as usual. The timing was way off. We placed our order and my roll instantly appeared! I thought it must be a mistake. A minute later our salad came. I had to ask for our drinks. Finally, my partners roll arrived. Lastly the drinks. A little more attention on the meal timing is needed.
Yoshi's is one of our favorite restaurants.
We love the performances and the dinner before the performance.
Yoshi's is a music venue with a restaurant, or vice versa. Either way you look at it, or choose to partake, of one or both venues together, it makes for a great experience. The music venue is jazz and the restaurant serves an interesting and enjoyable Japanese style menu. A meal at the restaurant before a show is recommended. The server will get your seats saved in the music venue while you dine, giving you the best vantage point to the stage. This saves you from rushing and hunting for a seat. Show your ticket and in return you will get a table number and seat map from the server. There are ushers to direct you as well within the performance area. The size of the show area is sized so that most seating has a very good vantage point to the stage. It is only a matter of how close you want to be to the stage. The sound system is excellent. You can hear voice and music equally well. There is a single item purchase requirement when attending the performance, whether you dine in the restaurant or not. There is a multi-story parking lot just around the corner with an attendant at the exit. You must pay your parking at a self-serve kiosk before going to your car. Yoshi's will validate your parking ticket providing you a discount on the total parking fee. Go to Yoshi's calendar, find performance to see, enjoy a great meal, and be part of the culture of Oakland.
Other than the noise level, our dinner was great. Our waiter was excellent!!! The show was very funny. Very enjoyable evening
I love Yoshi's for the music. the convenience of having a table ready for you once inside the venue is the bonus to eating there. But, I feel that the menu is very limited and do not understand why the burger is not served in the main restaurant. it's one of the best things on the menu. I would go to Yoshi's more if they simply offered the Burger. It can't be that hard.
We were provided a complimentary dessert as a acknowledgement of our 26th wedding anniversary! Sinbad was excellent and our seating was right in the front! He was very respectful and funny! Recommending to others for sure.
The food was very good and testy. All the servers and helpers were quick and polite. My blonde server with her "baby bump", I forgot her name but she impressed my table with food selection and especially the drink selection. The three of us were about to order the Sake sampler. Her suggestion to enjoy the Sophisticated Lady was right on! Because of this another order of the Sophisticated Lady was purchased during the Sinbad show.
Also, worth mentioning was the rapid correction of one of our dinner orders by the same waitress.
This total dinner experience made our nite very special.
Mixed drinks were not that great.
FAST & awesome service!! Perfect place for any occasion; Must have the calamri!
Nice Japanese restaurant near Jack London Square with a variety of both sushi and hot dishes - flavors and prep always very good. For best seats, definitely eat there if you are attending a show at their great music venue.
I brought in a birthday cake the day before our reservation,to surprise my sister. When we arrived, I reminded the hostess about the “surprise cake” and she very loudly confirmed the details w my sister standing right there.
Then the waiter brought dessert menus after dinner because apparently, he also didn’t know about the cake and I had to tell him about it in front of the table.
Such a simple service ask to bring a surprise birthday cake to the table after dinner. So Yoshi’s disappointed on both the loud hostess and unaware server front. However, the waiter was a sweet guy besides the cake problem. Just disappointing given that I chose to bring the cake in a day early to surprise my sister.
Celebrated our 45th wedding anniversary with great food and entertainment (SHO). We've done this in past years at Yoshi's. Our waitperson Steven was excellent! Thanks.
The food was very good, as usual, and quite interesting. We had sushi rolls and other small and mid-size plates. Unfortunately, our waiter was not very good. Extremely slow in the beginning (we waited a least 10 minutes before he showed up), another 10 minutes for wine service, with excuses, constant promises that he would return to the table very quickly (my favorite was the 30 second promise that turned into 5 minutes), etc. Disappointing, especially considering the place was less than 1/2 full.
Loved the sushi. Our waiter was the best. Thank you
