Very nice meal and service was also good.
Great for pre-show dining.
Love Yoshi's! If you are going for a show be sure to make dinner reservations and enjoy the evening!
Outstanding meal coupled with outstanding service. The restaurant was packed early on due to the upcoming show. Everything was organized, and we just had the best time. The shrimp & scallop fritter tempura was particularly memorable as was the Sea Bass dish. Yum!!!!
Everything was fresh and prepared very well except spinach salad which was over dressed. Waiter did not ask for dressing to be served on the side. Great date dinner as we enjoyed food and drinks and had no problem hearing ourselves. Both the cod and sea bass were perfect.
Always to go out on a nice date and take in a show at Yoshi's. The food is excellent and I absolutely love the ambiance. Thank you
Maysa was an outstanding show. Food was good but the waitress was beside herself this time. Nice person, tried hard, but missed on a couple of important things. Gave us 2 menus with different prices for the same item. Of course, we were told the higher price was the correct price. She missed on giving us silverware for main course and dessert. I used the sticks throughout but my friends were not happy trying to navigate the chopsticks. Then when dessert came he women did not have spoons to share in what the men ordered. Then she said stay, no rush, doors to the show open at 7:30 show starts at 8. I decided to get up at 7:31 as she asked if we wanted another round of coffee. We went in at 7:32, the show started at 7:30 on the nose! Actually if there was another venue like Yoshis in Oakland, I would give Yoshis a rest for a while after that mix-up.
Was a beautiful Friday night and even though my date was running late they held a table for me which was very nice. Was expecting a little more from the menu but what we did get was amazing. It was a little more expensive than I had anticipated but pretty much on par with other restaurants of that caliber in the area. Would definitely recommend for a special occasion.
We enjoyed dinner prior to attending the Maysa Show. I do look forward to dinner at this location. The food is always fresh and tasty.
The size of the serving was a nice portion but the food was just OK.
A great entree for a show at their music venue. Show your tickets and you get priority service and they hold your seats. It makes for an overall good time out.
One of favorite restaurant for great music and amazing food! I enjoy the ambience and their outstanding musical lineup!
it was fine as we were there to see a show. Food was good but pricey for what we got
Great place for fine food along with entertainment that always have quality sounds.
Great until the end. Service and food was excellent. Coffee and dessert, not so much. Cold coffee and mediocre dessert created a disappointing ending to an otherwise great meal.
The waiter in the showroom was not paying attention. Could not remember our drinks, tried to take more tip money then he deserved. I hope that staffers are testes for drug use. This guy was out of it, and again, when I asked him for our change, he said he did not remember where we sat. I used to be a waitress, so I know all the tricks. I never stole money from a customer, and I hope that this is not your policy. Also, my Salmon was undercooked, and I became quite ill the next day. Not fun!!!! I only go to this place because of the entertainment. Otherwise, I would have to be crazy to come to Oakland. Also, I could not be seated until 5 pm, and there was chaos at the front desk. Check people in at 4:30 to 5, because no one knew at Yoshi's how to manage people. What a dump!!!!
The food was really good. The ambiance was a perfect setting for getting together with friends, and the best part was getting great seating for the concert that we were looking forward to - Sergio Mendes! Overall, a very enjoyable evening. We've been here several times and have always had a great time.
Horrible service. Dined here before a concert in order to get good seats. Yoshi’s sat everyone else who didn’t dine with them in front of us. We were last row. What’s the point in dining before a concert if you’re just going to seat everyone else in front of us? Service was extremely slow too. It took almost 20 min for anyone to even acknowledge us at our table. Would not dine here again.
I was looking forward to a spicy tuna sushi thatYoshi’s makes, and I was disappointed they changed their menu and no longer offer it. It would be great if they could put it back on the menu or offer it to customers that request it.
My wife and I enjoy going out to Yoshi's to dine and love the show venue and artists that perform. Highly recommend
Love that Yoshis has great food and drinks and the concert venue for after dinner entertainment.
The dish that I had was absolutely amazing. I had the Oakland A's and would recommend that dish and any other at Yoshi's. We flew to Oakland from Los Angeles to see one of their fabulous shows and to dine at Yoshi's. Fantastic neighborhood Hidden Gem. We will go again!
Great night out!
Yoshi's use to one of the better sushi restaurants. It's now average, maybe a bit above. What made the evening, was the show we saw after dinner. I wouldn't just go here for the sushi. Quality average and over priced. Two of the 3 Sushi chefs were marginal as to creativity and presentation. Fish was fresh.
Perfect if you are going to the show after your meal. Very good if you like Sushi!
The food was excellent, but the service was lackluster. Server Francisco was an inattentive automaton. There were 2 guys delivering food who kept messing up both our order and those around us. There didn't appear to be any management to oversee the room and this chaos.
Also, after the show, which got out before 10, many attendees were dismayed to find the bar was closed.
Waiter excellent in clarifying menu and offering suggestions. Food was served hot and in reasonable timeframe. Great atmosphere
Delicious food and amazing concert! Great service.
We were there for a 5:00p 1st seating reservation, planning for a 6:00p meet and greet with Bobby Caldwell. We had to stand in line to get seated for 20+ minutes. Waited for anther 20+ minutes to order. The food was overpriced and way too salty.
Our recommendation is have dinner somewhere else before seeing a show at Yoshi’s.
Great food; a bit pricey but worth it. We always dine there when we have tickets to any of the exceptional list of performers at Yoshi’s. Top drawer!
We've been to Yoshi's many, many times prior to a show. The food and service has always been very good. This last visit was disappointing. Service was slower than usual (we did have a new server) but the food coming out of the kitchen was very spotty. Two of our party ordered the cold soba noodles. One of them got their order fairly quickly. But she was almost through with her meal before the rest of us got our items. That is an uncoordinated kitchen. I would also say that the food wasn't up to usual Yoshi's quality.
Jack was an amazing server! Food is excellent and the entertainers are awesome! We love coming here especially to see some of the old Motown groups. The venue is perfect. You can see and hear everything. It’s intimate
My friend and I came in from Las Vegas to see Roy Ayers, my friend had a chance to see his old friend from 50 years ago... They played jazz together, John Patton, they shared memories after show...
Good selection of cooked dishes and the sushi is always good. We had the Scallops in plum sauce. Their was plentiful with 5 Scallops. The Yellow tail imPinging sauce was quite good. Just enough sauce, fresh lime and mango, yum.
The waiter Michael talked way too much and needs to listen more. But he was a nice well intentioned fellow
My goal was to attend a concert at Yoshi''s. We decided to eat there to save time and travel. Our Server was very pleasant and helpful with describing different dishes and helping us choose the appropriate ones. We were celebrating a Birthday and they did comp us a dessert.
We were pleasantly surprised with the food. We especially liked the Kobe beef skewers and brussel sprouts.
The prices were a bit high. I would return if there is another concert I am interested in.
Felt like too many people were jammed into the restaurant; seating was squished; hard to hear
We love Yoshi's excellent Japanese food. Dinner in the dining room gets you priority seating in the adjacent jazz club. The restaurant and the cabaret together are a Bay Area treasure. Go there!
Went here on 8/27/18 Had the Rainbow, Spider, Rock'n'roll, Vegetable Tempura. The tempura was great. Rolls not so great. Freshness and flavors were good, but the rice was SOGGY on all the rolls. It was the consistency of really thick oatmeal. Rice had no bite, just mushy. I just don't understand how none of the sushi preparers did not notice it.
After dinner went to see the show and the sound guy sucked. The mics were on too low in the beginning and squealing feedback the rest of the show. Lighting poor for photos unless you were sitting front an center. No video or flashes allowed. It would have been nice to at least take a photo of the artists doing their thing.
It was impressive for being the 1st timer- food was good, service was fast & servers were attentive.
We love Yoshi's. Great service (thanks, Jack) and delicious food. A little pricey for the neighborhood but always consistant. We usually do the show and dinner. Just so easy. We have been going for years. Always a favorite.
