Japanese
Yoshi's has served Japan's best traditional dishes to Bay Area patrons since 1972. The menu highlights artfully arranged sushi, fresh grilled seafood, classic Japanese dishes, and vegetarian fare. Patrons can kick off their shoes in the traditional Japanese tatami seating or dine at tables. Expert sushi chefs create sushi and sashimi to order either in the restaurant or in the jazz house. Start the evening in the cocktail lounge before dinner or have a nightcap after taking in a show in the jazz house.

Duck confit egg rolls were outstanding. Our teens loved their virgin cocktails. Sushi rolls were above the usual, very tasty. There for a concert and overall a great night for Dad with our boys.

Best sushi I've had in the east bay. The place was hip and clean. and the show afterwards was incredible.

Great spot for any occasion.

The food and service was great.

However, the noise level in the back room was very high cause by all the customers talking.

We brought our daughter here to celebrate her 18th Birthday. She loves sushi and loves Pancho Sanchez. A win win night. She absolutely loved the place and will now start a new tradition she will carry on.
Thank you Yoshi’s for a memorable evening!

Service was fast and friendly, we enjoyed the meal.
Restroom a bit worn out
Food seamed to be fresh, however
my husband suffered severe indigestion, he had the tempura Oysters & the Tempura Shrimp & Scallop dish.

Been a fan since it opened in the Jack London Square area and last night the food and jazz afterward are, as always, incomparable.

We basically love Yoshi's because of the music as well as the food. However, our service was terrible -- I had to ask several times to get the right order. (After a LONG wait, they had brought the wrong entree.) Also, the entree I ordered was disappointing and soggy.

We tried to order creme brulee for dessert, but they told us the restaurant was completely out of the ingredients and so it wasn't on the menu for tonight. That left us time to kill before the performance. Interestingly, during the performance, we were able to order creme brulee, even though we know it all comes from the same kitchen! And, after all that, it was not the best creme brulee we have ever eaten; it was OK.

The music itself was wonderful. We also appreciated that the band gave some youngsters the opportunity to gain some live performance experience while people were shuffling in.

We will go back, but we might consider getting our Sushi somewhere else nearby. The restaurant is also incredibly noisy, so it was impossible to carry on a conversation.

Sushi was sooo so. My fiancé salmon roll had fish bones in it not one but TWO. And as we all know sushi rolls should NEVER have Fish bones in it. That’s a dangerous scenario. All in all i can’t give more then 3 stars for this experience.

It was more crowded than usual but we don’t usually go on a Saturday night. Larger crowd = more noise
Food at the sushi bar was delicious.
Service was very good.

I been to Yoshi's on a regular day , that's why I wanted to try on valentine's day but it wasn't really satisfying. Food was okay but the service not really. We waited really long time for ordering and also to get our wine. They brought the main courses while we still had the appetizer plates. Service needs to be better if you are serving set menu and 20% service charge already included.

The restaurant was nice the Decour was nice. The food was really good however the night we went with the Valentine’s Day so they had a special prefix menu in the main seating area. I am not sure if that’s what made the service a little slow but other than that everything was great. I will try again another time without a prefix menu.

it was valentine's day dinner -a four course meal. the price was reasonable for the event. The portions were plentful and tasty. The best part was that we got great seating for the show that night!

Extremely disappointed in Yoshi's. This place had special meaning for us which is why I reserved it for Valentine's day. The food is really good so I'll give them that. I made this reservation four days in advance. There was a request for a confirmation of the reservation the day before which I promptly did. No mention of what was to come with either of those.

Then the "scam" came. Three hours before the reservation (on the day of the reservation) I got a voice mail indicating it was to be a pre-fix meal at a high price and could I call if I still want my reservation and leave a credit card number. I called them back. I got some guy who, when I asked what was on the prefix menu he couldn't even pronounce "Hors d'oeuvre" (or even knew what it was). I was reluctant to give him my CC number but did after he said I *had to* to keep the reservation. I felt "trapped" by this as it is now afternoon/evening, nothing I could cook and no other restaurant on Valentine's day would have space.

We arrived, they checked us in and asked if we were going to the show. No. Got to the table, the waitress again asks if we are going to the show because it showed up on her electronic gadget. Hmmm...again no. Is anyone a vegetarian? Not exactly but is the Hors d'oeuvre vegetarian? Yes was the answer. Well, no out came beef. They replaced it with vegetarian option quickly after we mentioned it.

The rest of the menu was mostly fine, but what we really wanted was the array of sushi we usually order which was not available. Too much food later the bill comes. They had added 20% gratuity to it already. Really? What if service wasn't fine with us? I will say that the service was good, the waitress was excellent, but that's not the point.

So a huge bill later I was feeling like I was taken and that they didn't care because for them it was about securing the high amount of money they wanted to charge for the night and was very disorganized.

Loved how both the hostess and our server made sure to congratulate my fiancée and I for our anniversary. Amazing and thoughtful touch that the staff takes the time to read the additional notes when making reservations.

The food was very good. We started with the Kobe Beef Skewers and the Duck Confit Rolls. I had the Spinach Salad before the main course. For the main course we had the Pork Chop and the Scallop/Shrimp Fritter. The food was fresh--the sauces were excellent. For desert we split the brownie with gelato. The service on the other hand was poor. We received our food before our drinks. He forgot the Kobe Skewer. The salad came out before the appetizers. The Pork Chop came out 10 minutes before the Fritter and we had to wait 15 minutes for the Brownie. He never came back to check on our meal. All and all the service did not match the food and was not what you would expect for a $200 dinner for two.

This was our first visit, as we were attending a show at the club, so we decided to have dinner. The great thing is that the staff will get your show in the club for you while you are eating, which is a huge plus. The food was all quite good and the quantities were of a reasonable size. It was a bit noisy due to the pre-show crowd, but they had our reservation right on time. The only minor issue we had is the food came out pretty quick....no time to finish one course before the next one appeared. Other than that, this is a good place to have a drink or dinner near Jack London Square.

We thoroughly enjoyed our "girls' night out" pre-show dinner at Yoshi's. We were a large party of 9 and the service was impeccable. (I believe our waiter's name was Khalil). All orders arrived promptly and our waiter was very attentive to everyone's requests. Everyone enjoyed their meal without complaint. I especially enjoyed the spinach salad and others raved about the shrimp and scallop fritter. All sushi rolls were delicious.

I absolutely love the intimacy of Yoshi's, however the seating is rough because it is soooo tight. The benefit of eating in the restaurant means they will reserve your seats...that is good, but the food to me is now just ok. I have had much better...halibut was overcooked dried out, returned the creme brûlée dessert...

LOVED the artist (Eric Benet)

The service was great, the menu is overpriced , the food was good but not great. The drinks were weak too much ice, and they sat around before they were delivered you could see water and tasted like a watered down drink. The tempura was greasy but tasty. Its a nice place but too much $$

A frequent visitor to Yoshi's for the live entertainment, friends and I often eat there before a show. The food is so so but this particular time we picked several items from the appetize portion of the menu. The waitress mentioned no less, I mean no less than 5 times that we need to purchase a certain amount per person to receive reserved seating. She didn't count drinks purchased separately from the bar. RUDE.
