It was our daughter’s birthday. We took her out for dinner and a concert. The ambiance was great. The food is pricey for the portion sizes. The salads are half the size they were previously. The quality was ok not noteworthy. The sushi was good. It was m convience . The best thing about eating there is you get reserved settings for the concert.
We arrived early and were seated right away. There are lots of waitstaff to ensure you have a pleasurable dining experience. The service was excellent.
My partner and I ordered two rolls, sashimi, brussel sprouts and one drink each. The Japonese roll tasted "off" and had a slimy consistency; we both knew something was wrong — we each had one piece and immediately stopped eating it. We were both sick that evening and have absolute cause to believe the roll was the likely cause. We will be back and were disappointed in paying $150 for a mediocre meal that made us both sick.
Went in to celebrate my husband's birthday and was thoroughly surprised on how great the food and beverages were. I didn't have high expectations coming for the food as we were attending the late show and thought it would be best to dine in advance as they do give you priority seating if you go this route. My husband and I shared a Yoshi's Roll and the Alaskan Halibut. It was off the charts delicious and buttery. I would recommend this place to anyone visiting the area and would highly recommend the show option as it will for sure be remembered as an incredibly fun night out on the town. Wine was slightly over priced but I guess that is expected in the Bay Area.
As soon as we checked in, we were seated. Our appetizers came very quickly and we're good. We had our main entre and desert finished with enough time to get to the ladies room and our seats without being rushed! We had a great time at the show.
Everything was fine the only problem we had was my crème brûlée it taste like garlic 🥴 and I believe the drinks could be cheaper, they are pretty expensive for a basic drink. Otherwise the dinner, the service and the place was great.
I have been a fan of Yoshi’s for years, this is somewhere I’ll always attend. Great food, awesome service and great entertainment.
Very busy for the pre-show so understandably longer waits. But the value is not as good as it once was. The food quality is still very very good
But David Lindley only played for 45 minutes. Now that sucks! But the restaurant is still very good.
I flew from Albuquerque NM to Oakland Wednesday to hear the Phil Robson/Jed Levy quartet and since I live in NM especially looked forward to good sushi in CA. Dinner was delicious and our (I brought my niece who lives in Oakland) server was great. The music was great!
As they assign your seats with dinner in the restaurant, it is a good value. The food is excellent and after dinner, just a few feet to the nightclub. Unless you do not like Japanese food (or their not so Japanese offerings) you would be crazy to not avail yourself of this place.
Good food and great service. When I made my reservation the reservation page asked if there was a special occasion. I indicated our anniversary. But there was no mention of this for the dinner. It's a pretty minor thing, but wish it would have been mentioned. But our service was great and food was really good.
Everything was fabulous however, please clean your bathrooms more often.
Had a lovely experience dining before seeing a performance. The food was delicious and our waitress was kind. Quite pleased with my experience.
Very nice options on menu great service
Nice venue for intament concert an shows
I’ve loved Yoshi’s since they were in Berkeley many years ago. The food is fantastic and so fresh. The staff is friendly, you never feel ignored or forgotten here. It’s nice to see Jack London Square improving and bustling! I’ll definitely return.
Everything was wonderful from beginning to end. :)
Arnez J , is always funny from beginning to end. Service was excellent!
Great atmosphere, ambience and service capped off by a great show. If you have never been I highly recommend going!
Very good dinner! It was a tad expensive!
Impressive ambiance and presentation. Prompt service and delicious food. This is truly a fine example of the phrase “You get what you pay for” and this was worth every penny.
We arrived about 30 mins late, for our dinner reservation, and they were able to get us seated *and* served in time for us to catch the 8pm show. The food was magnificent and I was very happy we were able to eat in time to catch our show. We've been to Yoshi's many times and this experience was one of the better ones. :)
High quality food . Very good service . Big variety , of not exactly , Japanese cuisine can satisfy any taste . Small candles add nice touch of ambience , but you still feel comfortable and casual . You can enjoy the show after and your seats are arranged . You don’t have to worry about anything just relax . Love the place
Hostess, waiter were very accommodating, attentive, consistent great sushi/food.
We frequent Yoshi’s often due to the awesome music lineup for Jazz, R&B, hip hop. Love the intimate venue❣️
I hadn't been to Yoshi's for awhile but hadn't forgotten how good the food is.
Yoshi's is one of our favorite places. The food is incredible; very fresh and presented in a wonderful fashion. Drinks are great and the staff wonderful. We always go before a show so we can select our favorite seats in the venue.
Service was very good... scallops, salmon, pear/pecan salad, and fried oysters were outstanding! Beef skewers were delivered cold and were absolutely flavorless. Drinks were well balanced and delicious.
I have not been to Yoshis in a long time so you can imagine my surprise when I saw the prices of the food. I have had sushi that tastes better for cheaper. I didn't like the fact that they crowd people in the restaurant just to fit as many people in as possible. You can't even get up without bumping the chair behind you.
On the other hand the service was excellent and I caught a show which was really good which was the saving grace for my experience there.
I always have food there before a show I got sushi and cold sake both were good sushi was tasty fresh tempura shrimp crab sushi I recommend eating there before a show
We came here for the Musiq Soulchild performance and decided to have some appetizers here as well. We got seated at a 2 top where the Sun was fully on my face. Didn’t feel like complaining as I’ve worked at restaurants in the past and a good GM will notice if a patron is uncomfortable. I know the GM (or the manager on duty that night) saw me and he didn’t make any effort to make sure we were comfortable. The food was super mediocre. We have the Kobe skewers, the scallop and shrimp fritter, rice, and tempura shrimp. Skewers were ok, fritters seems to be more veggie than shrimp or scallop, the tempura was raw! Also a homeless man seemed to have made it past the hostess, past the sushi line, and halfway through the restaurant before being escorted out. Will come back for musical performances but definitely not for the food.
Absolutely YES! Lived in the Bay Area for 40+ years and never visited Yoshi's. What a lovely surprise. Food was top shelf, and John Pizzarelli's performance was wonderful. Altogether a memorable evening.
The service at the restaurant was exemplary, and the food absolutely wonderful. Waiter (Alex) was very helpful with my wife's gluten free needs, and the rest of the food was well presented and delicious. Only negative was the beet salad. We don't like "arugula"(?) greens and that spoiled the effect. Everything else was great. We'll be back.
This was my first dinner experience in the restaurant, I usually done inside the concert area. It was great and I will dine here again.
Excellent food and quick service - both of which are important when you dine here before the show at Yoshi's jazz venue.
Beautiful in every way! I plan to return with my friends soon.
Astonishing food, and wonderful music, what could go wrong?
Will probably not return...
We were seated quickly and then left in limbo, no server came by for at least 29mins. I then got up and asked at the waitress station if someone could come over and take our order.
The noise level was horrible and the table of diners we were next too was incredibly loud. The noise level dropped when the show started and thankfully we were not attending the show.
Not a great night out!
We had a great time with my Dad visiting from Louisiana. My server was sweet and very busy but was really accommodating and great. Skewers were great.
Our waiter Alex was great!
