Patrons can kick off their shoes in the traditional Japanese tatami seating or dine at tables. Expert sushi chefs create sushi and sashimi to order either in the restaurant or in the jazz house. Start the evening in the cocktail lounge before dinner or have a nightcap after taking in a show in the jazz house.

Yoshi's Oakland Ratings and Reviews
They weren't at all prepared for the number of reservations they'd taken. It was SUCH a cold night, and the line to get in through the door, just to give them our name for the reservation, was very long and the wait seemed interminable. Everybody in line had a reservation and they had nowhere enough staff to cope.
Horrible. I was never told it was a prefix menu on Valentine’s Day. Never got email or call. I don’t do anything prefix ever because my wife is a bariatric patient and we both have lots of food issues. We can usually navigate around sushi. Asked for a manager and waited 20 minutes. We had to leave or we would not have gotten any food since my wife has to wake up early for work. I called the manager after we left and he said it was too bad that we booked show and dinner and now we’re out $300 dollars on my credit card. He said next time read. Complete jerk and horrible treatment. Why would I ever book something knowing we could not eat there! Thanks for the horrible treatment and service. I’m certain you made upwards of a quarter mill in one night, you would not lose anything by giving us our money back. Plenty of people were waiting to eat. I’ll never go back to you establishment. Not ever.
Valentine’s Day menu was expensive for what you get. $85 for 5 courses sounds good in theory. In reality, first course was a piece of tofu, pretty good but small, salad and dessert were mediocre. The dessert was a piece of chocolate cake worse than the one you get from Safeway. Sashimi was mostly very good, and we enjoyed our entrees ok, although lobster risotto was super sweet, which tasted odd. Mainly go if you want to see the show afterwards, which was very convenient and excellent.
The service was just okay. When opened a bottle of wine, the waitress just poured our glasses without letting us taste the bottle first which is customary when ordering a bottle. The guests at other table had their belongings on our table and the hostess instead of asking them to move their things left us to deal with them which allowed for them to have an attitude with us when we asked them to move their jackets from our table etc. While the food and atmosphere suggest a certain price point , the service did not.
On the plus side: Had a good meal with friends before seeing a concert.
On the down side: I shared my food allergies with the server but she did not give me a lot of confidence that my food was going to come out correctly. She was not subtle about upselling us to increase our tab.
We made a reservation for dinner for we purchased tickets for the show due to a Recent good experience we had for a previous dinner and show . Upon arrival we were greeted with courtesy. Our server was great and prompt. This past evening 2/10 reservation started awful . Greeted by young uncourteous hostess . We were seated in the middle of 2 large groups which was so noisy ! Then bus girl moved us and server was totally scattered with his service. Order taking was prompt but our food especially appetizer was cold n sushi was below standard . Server forgot my wine until the end of my dinner and water was not refilled and was asked upon when the bus person finally came by . We inquired re our seating for the show and was told by he that he didn't want to mess up the process for it was handled as upon check in. When we got the check we had no seating arrangement in place we had to wait in the general line to find out they did put block 2 seats completely in the back , mind you backed up to the wall . This recent dinner and show was bad experience considering our dining experience in December. This re evaluates the dining incentive they have in place . If it was not for the live music shows we enjoy, we would not be dining there and spending our hard earned money for the overpriced food . Safeway sushi is better than what we ate that evening . We normally don't review unless we totally had a terrible experience and this was it .
This was the 1st time I was disappointed with the service at Yoshi's our food was cold including coffee. It was too close to show time to send it back. The server waited to long to get my seats so. My friends and I were smashed in a booth with a couple instead of at a table very uncomfortable.
This was our first time having dinner at Yoshi's --- food was excellent (server was friendly). LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE everything about this place. Was our 6yr anniversary ---We attended the show afterward dinner and was very lucky to get a great seat up front. My husband was so excited to see his very favorite band (Confunkshun) We will definitely will BE BACK and recommend HIGHLY oxoxo
Great spot with smooth service integrated beautifully with the in house performance venue. The restaurant experience was good enough to consider without a show, but the two together is what makes this place special. Plenty of variety on the menu for all tastes.
This was our first time going to the restaurant, but not for a show there. We had tickets for another concert across the street on 3rd St. We have eaten at Yoshi's many times, but this meal was one of the best we could remember. In fact a couple across from us told us told us they would have what we ordered next time; it was that good!
We had the beef skewers to start; 5 perfectly cooked and seasons skewers--delicious. Then we had the baby spinach and bacon salad--it was wonderful, easy to share, and perfect to the last spinach leaf. Then I had the beef while my husband had the pork chops, and to complement that we ordered the potatoes. The entrees were great and the potatoes were so flavorful and also ample for sharing. I had plum wine and we both had hot tea.
It was a great meal, that we enjoyed tremendously. We had never really thought about going to Yoshi's simply for the restaurant, but after this meal we might reconsider that in the future.
I had not eaten at Yoshi‘s in a while I will be back very soon enjoy the food the steak was awesome the hors d’oeuvres oh my goodness our server I believe her name was Betty very very kind very efficient I would recommend Yoshi‘s even if you’re not going for the show just go for the dinner very good prices excellent food good drink 😎👍🏾
Our server Linda was very energetic and attentive. I have noticed each server always asks if this is your first time visiting Yoshi's. Linda's conscientiousness was just right! Linda was also very accommodating.
The Jazz club, however should only seat 2 people at a table. The couple that was seating at Table 5 @ the 730p on Saturday February 3rd were extremely rude and obnoxious! The husband even more so. He stated to us when we arrived at our table, "how do I know your are the people that are supposed to be sitting here, show me your ticket." Well I did show him my ticket! We sat at the same table on December 8th for the 730p show and did not have a problem!
As a matter of fact, one of the waiters came over and asked if our seats were satisfactory! I am hopefully the next visit will be uneventful!!
