YOLO Ratings and Reviews
We went early, before a concert at the Broward Performing Arts Center. We told our server that we were in a bit of a hurry because we were going to a concert and she told us that because of the restaurant's partnership with the theater, we were each entitled to a free dessert which we could enjoy either immediately after our entrees or we could come back after the concert. Service was prompt, food was outstanding, and the desserts were a very nice bonus!
A place to see and be seen where the cars lined up as you leave are all lambos and Bentley’s. Nice vibe out front with outdoor seating and some live tunes for our weeknight visit.
Food was good to great but mostly on the good side. Cornbread was delish and a nice portion, better for three or four. The touted calamari was tasty enough but the high breading to actual squid ratio caused quick burnout and a decent portion uneaten. Chopped salad was the star for us and the crab cakes were good with green apple slaw and ultra thin crispy fries.
Service was above average for our meal. Likely a return for drinks and apps outside but not a full business meal again.
Have dined here with better experience. Had early reservation on 2/14/18 (5:45) before heading to theater so it was not very busy upon arrival and through most of dinner. Our server was inattentive and seemed upset to be serving us, the valet and hostess were more friendly. First martini was served warm. The calamari is of such low quality that it is drowned by a tomato sauce and spices. The portions are small (2 beef) and over priced. The atmosphere is very trendy and hip and I liked the décor.
Let's start with Josh, our waiter...he was the crème de la crème. His knowledge of the menu and meal recommendations were spot on. A must have is the smoked corn bread and rib eye beef skewers to start; and my favorite entrée on the menu was the beef two ways. The food presentation was also a hit.
We visited on a weekday, so it was quiet and great for the special occasion we were celebrating. YOLO is an exceptional restaurant I would recommend you visit.
I have been to YOLO before, and was impressed with the large booth tables, the view into the chef's area, and the romantic ambiance of the dining area. So, when it came to selecting a place to celebrate my wife's birthday, I wanted to be sure I would get great meal options and service that would make a memorable evening. YOLO has never disappointed us. The only drawback is the noise level coming from the bar crowd, but that, in a strange way, has its appeal, too.
I would recommend YOLO for any group party, or couples' special occasion. Valet parking is $7 up front, which was a surprise, but still a good value for a Las Olas premium locale. It would be better to pay for parking on departure, in my opinion. All in all, a great choice.
Our second time dining in the last 2 years before a show at Au Rene theater.
A Great menu with creative variety of choices and excellent wait staff.
The Smoked Corn bread is delicious!
I enjoyed a very fresh and simply prepared Mahi Mahi with roasted carrots and parsnips, my husband enjoyed the steak. Both entrees were cooked perfectly.
For dessert we shared the coconut cream and banana pie with chunks of banana, absolutely delicious and topped with caramel and nuts. Our bill with appetizer, entrees, drinks and dessert with 2 cappuccinos was $133 and we’ll worth it :) I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
Service at YOLO was fantastic! Engaged but certainly not over the top. They were also able to adjust to our recommendation to move tables without a problem, very accomodating. Food we great, atmosphere was energetic yet still able to have conversation. Overall great experience.
Have been to YOLO on several occasions. This was my first bad experience here. The waitress seemed overwhelmed and not on her game. Our first round of drinks for party of 5 came out in shifts. Service was slow and an automatic gratuity was added to our bill. The food was good but ambiance lacking.
Visiting Lauderdale on vacation with friends, we chose YOLO on a recommendation. Food was great, crab cakes, filet, and a pasta dish. Everyone raved about the taste and presentation. The only issue we had was an inattentive waitress. Had to find another waitress to retrieve our check. Would most definitely give YOLO another visit.
