About Y.O. Ranch Steakhouse
The highest quality Texas prime beef is the main focus at the Y.O. Ranch Steakhouse but its legendary for its extensive wild game selection, and many of those same animals roam freely over our 48,000 acre ranch and namesake near Kerrville, Texas.
For those in the mood to try something out of the ordinary, the Y.O. offers venison, elk, wild boar, game birds, and our signature dish, the buffalo filet mignon.
Most of the beef at the Y.O. is local Texas Black Angus beef and hand cut in house. We employ a method very similar to the one the ranch hands have been using for more than 125 years.

Y.O. Ranch Steakhouse Ratings and Reviews
Overall, the food was quite good...steaks were prepared perfectly; Asparagus was too large, and a bit "woody"; sauces were excellent. But, for $10-$12 per side, you'd think that a "high-end" restaurant could learn to peel the damned potatoes before they mash them...They were Perfectly Awful!
Waiter was attentive and knowledgeable. Desserts were quite good; the chocolate brownie cake was a bit too dense, but the pecan pie was excellent, and the creme brulee was Epic!
My husband and I enjoyed dinner at YO Ranch Steakhouse. We chose it because the menu included game. I had Buffalo and it was delicious. My husband enjoyed his venison as well. The grits and brussel sprouts were perfect sides. We were served a beautiful bourbon pecan pie for dessert. While it looked beautiful but was tasteless. The filling had no bourbon flavor and was a let down after a really nice dinner. Don't pass up this restaurant. It is very good and reasonably priced.
We met another couple for a lunch get together. Food was good. After taking a few bites of my steak I realized I was supposed to have gotten two shrimp. Then I noticed that my friend who had ordered the beef fillet (which comes without shrimp) was eating my buffalo fillet! To me that is a major mistake.
The food was good - some in our group ordered the Wild Game special (buffalo sirloin, venison chop, and chicken-friend quail breasts). The quail breasts were over-salted. Buffalo was great! I ordered the petite filet, medium-rare, and it was cooked to perfection. Demi glaze was good but will skip that next time. All of the family-style sides were great: gouda mac-and-cheese was the table favorite, next were the bacon brussel sprouts (delicious), and the portabella mushrooms were perfect. Skip the spinach - it was underwhelming. Mashed potatoes were good but would opt for one of the others if I had my choice. Wine selection was nice, and I was too full to attempt dessert. Will return!
We liked the western decor, the menu choices including deer and the service was super. Prices would keep me from frequent visits. Price is about the same as Trulucks, a bit more than Houston's which has better food. If you find a pair of ladies sunglasses, let me know
We were in Dallas for the Cotton Bowl and looking for a prime steakhouse and we found it. Just a block away from the West End rail station. We weren’t starving so we split a prime ribeye, whipped potatoes and mushrooms. Great great and great! Marcus was our server. He was great! He joked around with us because he knew he could, yet with other tables he toned it down depending on the guest. His laugh was contagious! That shows he knows people. A valuable asset for a server. If we get back to Dallas, we will definately go back and ask for Marcus to be our server.
My partner and I dined here last night and they did not disappoint. The GM, Mr. Roderick McNeal asked us how our food tasted and if it was prepared to our standards. Which is absolutely was. I ordered the 16oz bone-in NY Strip and my partner got the 14oz NY strip. We paired it with the fries and steam asparagus. Mouth watering delicious. Their drinks were top notch as well. The bartender Justin was passionate about his drink inventions and explained the history of the beverage we were served. Overall, amazing visit and I'll definitely be back
The food was ok at best. The main reason for my low star rating was because of the manager. I had ordered the mixed grill plate. On the menu it states three types of meats grilled and the options change daily MKT price. However, the plate came out drenched with a gravy and a sauce. On top of that one of the meats was deep fried. When I asked the manger to fix it he gave me attitude and told me that the description of the meal was on the menu. I told him it was not and asked him to show me. He refused but agreed to fix my meal. 30 minutes later I got what I ordered. Poor management. Our server was great though!
Excellent server. Very attentive, I forgot his name but he treated us as though we were a valuable guests. I appreciate that. Steak was very tasty and the herb chicken was well seasoned though kind of salty. The elk steak my son has was very tender but pricy for the tiny portion. Very pricey meal overall for steaks, it is okay for special occasions or celebration. The best part for me was the pudding bread dessert. I would come back just for that .
Took my wife for diner at Y.O. for her Birthday. She absolutely loved it! Our server was great, our steaks were cooked perfect and everything was served in a timely manner. This was our first visit and stay in the downtown Dallas area and Y.O. delivered on a great dining experience for my wife and friends.
First rate food and excellent , attentive service from Marcos. Very disappointed to be stuck in the three-table storage room between the main dining room and the banquet hall in the back. Special evening with our college-aged daughter who attends college in Dallas, but noise level in super small mini-dining room was way too loud and the ambiance was more like a giant closet than a beautiful dining hall. Really want to like this place... the food was first rate (if a bit pricey) and our server was outstanding. Just disappointed at spending $250 for a non-ambient, noisy meal.
We booked Y.O. Ranch Steakhouse on a recommendation by phone from the OMNI Dallas Concierge. It lived up to its billing for great steak.
They contacted me the day before the reservation and our table for 8 was ready when we arrived. The waiter was attentive, but not in our way. His recommendations and that of the OMNI doorman as we headed out were right on.
The steak was so tender, you could eat it without a knife! The wine list had a good range - we chose a Napa Silver Ghost Cab Sav and enjoyed 2 bottles of it along with some good local beer.
Overall, it was good value for the money - about $100 / person for a great meal with attentive service that my clients thanked me for the following day. I'd highly recommend it.
Very disappointed! We went with a reservation and were sat promptly. Waitress was a bit unfriendly and seemed to be put out by not wanting to wait on someone to make a decision on what kind of drink they were going to have. So a beer was ordered and it took so long for everyone else’s speciality drinks to be made that the beer was luke warm. All of our steaks were not cooked correctly, “ Rare was medium, medium rare was rare and medium was rare” baked potato were cold and when asked to warm them our waitress made new ones and by the time she returned we were finished. The manager was very apologetic and we were not looking for anything to be discounted but he had taken our bake potatoes off the bill when the bill was brought to the us.
Awesome wild game, service was on point! Came for my husband’s birthday with our sons, and they enjoyed the ambiance as well. The food was absolutely delicious - started with the bacon-wrapped venison, scallops, and house salad. The wild game trio was prepared to perfection, as was the 24oz Porterhouse - more than enough to share for family of 4. The spinach was fine, and that mac&cheese was too good! We completely finished it lol! For his birthday, my husband chose the lemon and blueberry cheesecake, compliments of the house, which was a very sweet gesture. Loved it!!
