Yew never fails to impress. As always, the staff & service is exceptional, as is the food - locally sourced & sustainable when possible, a great variety, and nice choices. Super attentive service, a great sommelier, beautiful ambience - we love the Four Seasons and Yew!

We were 3 girls. We ordered 3 appetizers and 3 entrees. But the server brought all at once. Put all the food on the small table. Looks very rude and rush. The imperfassional server dose not match the price.

YEW is our favourite restaurant in vancouver. We can always count on a delicious, creative and well presented meal. The service is always great. Andrew is our favourite waiter!! The restaurant ambience is lively and fun, catering to groups, couples and families. You can’t go wrong at the Yew.

Have lunch / drinks meetings 4/5 times a month at YEW. Was highly disappointed by the Mackerel. Not only was it burnt, it tasted like it was seared in burnt oil. Did not make a fuss about it because I did not want to interrupt my guests lunch, but would never recommend that dish to anyone.

We enjoy a place that is busy , but it was so very loud and busy that we felt like it was all the staff could do to keep up. The food was tasteful however my lamb was undercooked. A bit too rushed and noisy for me.

The ambience of the restaurant is fantastic. The restaurant is nestled inside the Four Seasons hotel downtown.

Our server (I forget his name) was enthusiastic and incredibly helpful with the selections (food and wine). The only hiccup was the risotto. I ordered the Mixed Seafood Risotto and it was quite underdone. The rice was crunchy. When it was sent back, it was returned slighly better cooked but still under.

Aside from that, everything else was satisfactory.

The service on this particular visit was surprisingly inattentive, given Yew's usually high standards.
We started out with a round of oysters, but the appetizers arrived shortly thereafter, with the table still crowded with the oyster platter and condiments, so we had to send them away.
We ordered cocktails and were given a wine list, but nobody came back to refresh our drinks or ask whether we had decided on a wine (or for that matter pick up the wine list, which stayed with us through dinner). We had to flag a server to place our order for another round halfway through our meal.
We were not asked whether anybody at the table had allergies before placing our order, which has become common place in most fine restaurants, and no explanation of our dishes were given when they were delivered.
The lackluser service lasted till dessert, when all but one arrived at once, and being polite, we had to wait several minutes with our ice cream and sorbets melting, untl the last one was delivered.
The food was excellent as always, and we assume the poor service was indicative of the room being unexpectdely short-staffed, rather than a decrease in standards.
Disappointing, but we will be back and hope for a better experience next time.

Seems like the restaurant offered Travelzoo vouchers as they are not doing well right now. It wasn’t too busy at all during peak Sunday brunch time. Also, service was lousy for such high end restaurant in then Four Seasons hotel, as many workers seemed like young, foreign students who were either training working part time and/or unmotivated. Food was terrible, they even messed up description on menu for Lobster Benny and waitress agreed that this is terrible since item comes with ham on it even though no mention of that on menu. Waitress made few other mistakes with taking our orders during meal plus they don’t bring out any sauces with meals such as tartar sauce with fish and chips, or ketchup with fries unless you ask for it, which is ridiculous. Nothing offered for inconvenience even though we had two young children with us, just remade meals. All signs of poor management as things aren’t getting corrected so not motivated to improve just stay status quo and serve their usual clientele in hotel who have no other choice for food inside hotel.

Overall very good, but we are not used to the minor change to the menu for ordering side food to the main course. Every side item is ordered separately, we pick mushrooms, the portion of this item is at least twice the amount of what other restaurant would normally offer! A small pan full of mushrooms! For us, we much prefer a higher price, we could select 2 to 3 items with regular portions from the group.
We are happier with the previous set up!
Yew is one of our favourite restaurants, visiting at least 4 times yearly! Highly Recommended!

It’s a new menu, and from what I ate it was amazing! The fish was cooked perfectly, the presentation was simple and elegant. The veg (atrichoke and asparagus) perfectly prepared and accompanying sauce was balanced and lovely on the palate. The sides (mushrooms - devine, Brussels sprouts - needed a minute more in the pan).
Overall really wonderful... I gave a 4 star because of the failing cappuccino ... please, please, please train someone how to properly prepare a cappuccino. Every time I come here I hope that someone will get it right. The proportions of coffee to milk are wrong, you are preparing a latte. And the biggest error is the foam. It should be stiff and tall not flat and thin, again this is more like a latte... surely someone at this restaurant has been to Italy... don’t let the last thing your diners have be a disappointment.

Overall the place has quite an intriguing menu, prices are on the upside though. If you want to try out seafood of different varieties - it is a nice place for a one time visit. It has a huge wine list and a lot of strong spirits, but it did lack cider, which is a shame for a local restaurant.

Besides that, there was nothing special about service - surely food came in time, but no small talk or other entertaining conversations that Vancouver is used to.

For me it boils down to price vs value. It's an upscale restaurant, but a combination of everything results in just a decent dining experience, nothing to actually remember. Not bad for a single visit, but I'm not going back there again.

All 4 of us agreed, that the food was good, but not stellar. The atmosphere and service were great and it is a fun place for people watching. I like my food served "hot" so I sent back my lobster as was a little on the lukewarm side. Our waiter was most obliging and my entre came back lovely and hot. We had a great time and would definitely recommend.

We had an excellent seafood meal here. The prices were less than we had expected for a restaurant in a 5 star hotel. The seafood was very fresh and well cooked. Portions were good for this style of fine dining. My husband had 3 scallops for a starter (sometimes we only get 1). I had lobster and had a whole tail (which is where the flesh is), nicely presented. The wine list was extensive, but we chose Canadian wine as this is better value than imported European wines. Overall a great night with lots of lively chatter from other guests, but this was not overwhelming.

My friend said it was the best halibut dish she has ever had! My fish and chips were delicious. We shared a dessert like nothing I've ever seen or heard of before with sesame seeds. It was innovative and wonderful. I've been at Yew for business lunches but not for several years. Definitely going back.
