Unfortunately this steakhouse is not worth the price. For the same cost I would recommend other high end steak houses.
Food: started out with the lobster and crab bisque which was okay. Nothing special though. My wife and I both had the prime 8oz filets and both were bland. They had an 8oz angus filet on the menu as well (for about $10 cheaper) and I’m wondering if they gave us the angus, because the steaks we had were NOT worth $42/each.
Also, I had ordered an Old Fashioned as my drink and it was the most watered down Old Fashioned I’ve ever had
Service: my wife and I went around 8pm on a Friday and the place was fairly empty. There were only two other tables of people in the place and the hostess tried to seat us right next to one of them. I had to be asked to move a table away so we could at least have a little privacy (note to the restaurant....when the place is empty, seat people away from others, not right next to them. Restaurant 101 there).
The service was very nice and friendly but wasn’t very attentive. Only came by once to check on us after we got our meal and when we wanted the check I had to waive her over after waiting for awhile (which should never happen when the restaurant is empty).
Definitely won’t be going back. Too many far better steakhouses to drop $150 at get far better food and service.
Super experience. Service was attentive but not intrusive. You could tell the staff cared we had a good experience. Since it was business we requested a quiet area and they were nice to seat us in a more private area. Sea Bass was done just right, nice flavor. Definitely will return. A gem to find.
Order was wrong when delivered to table, waitress was friendly although not very knowledgeable. No steak sauce in the restaurant, manager was friendly and handled everything appropriately. I will be back for a second try as I just moved to this area. Hoping for a better result next time!
We had reservations but didn't need them for a Saturday night! There were only a few tables filled. We were seated and our server took our drink orders. Drinks were ok..just ok. The best thing we had was the spinach dip and shrimp cocktail. We each ordered steaks...one ordered the Angus and the others were Prime. The server had no idea what the difference was in grade. The steaks are OVERLY seasoned with liquid smoke! I had the Prime steak ($9.more) and it had so much gristle!!!! Potatoes were so-so and beans were barely cooked. The four of us each ordered a different dessert....The creme brûlée was ok, the cheesecake was just a frozen dessert thawed out. Crust tasted OLD! The others had the chocolate cake and bread pudding.. just ok.., not a good experience! Won't be back....long drive from where we live too! We go with our friends once a month to a very nice restaurant . Wasted night out....Oh, yeah, our server was outside watering plants most of the time....never got water refills or tea!!! OH MY!
I have been a customer for several years and yes, I noticed there has either been a change of chefs or quality of food. This restaurant was on my 1st class recommendations for any of my clients but future recommendations will depend on the client I am referring as well as the event.
Third visit. Still disappointed, ugh. I've dined all over DFW and understand restaurants. The sea bass was not good, very Tilapia-like and the Prime Filet was of Tom Thumb quality. Garlic mashed cold and bland. I now understand why the dining room was empty on a prime-time slot weekend evening. The bar seemed well-stocked but the waitstaff did not know details. Will not be back if they keep this business model, they really need to address how they go to market in Flower Mound. The town needs another relevant dining choice. We really wanted to love this place since it's local but the overall value is poor and the food very generic/overpriced. Nowhere near the quality or creativity of competition. Bummed...hoping for a restaurant revival here.
Ordered the USDA Prime New York Strip, cooked to medium. Steak was rare, sent it back. It was medium when returned. The quality of the steak was more of a Choice/Select cut, not Prime. Was able to eat half of the steak, the rest was of poor quality. Wife's steak, Prime Filet, was better quality and cooked correctly. Rest of the meal was average steakhouse fair.
We were looking forward to a Texas steak before heading back to Boston. The menu features USDA Prime steaks supposedly sourced from Chicago and Angus Beef steaks from Texas. We paid an extra $6 to get the USDA Prime steaks.
Two of us ordered the ribeye, one medium rare and the other medium. The other diner ordered the New York strip medium. Both of the ribeyes came out medium well and the strip, which was twice as thick, was medium rare. Clearly, all three steaks were on the grill for the same amount of time.
You expect marbleing with ribeyes, but these steaks were a third fat with some gristle. The NY strip was dryer, as usual, but okay if not for being undercooked.
The mashed potatoes were dry and the veggie medley is something you'd find at any Dennys or Lubys.
Bottom Line: Hugely overpriced for mediocre steaks which were poorly grilled. Don't go.
Me and my wife visited for our 1st anniversary of marriage. Everything was spectacular. I highly recommend Yellow Rose to anyone looking for a great meal and great service. Danny, was great to talk to and very informative as our waiter. We look forward to telling others and visiting again very soon.
This is a very poor steakhouse we received what was called prime meat in the strip in a fillet both contain every fat and the strip contained considerable grit you would be better off going to Texas land and cattle for half the price or for a comparable meal with better quality Barb's chop and steakhouse stay away
Great place close to home for Steaks and drinks. I ordered a Caesar Salad and a Petite Filet. Hubby order lamb chops and soup. Soup and salad were prepared well. Steak and lamb chops were prepared as ordered. Both had a decent amount of flavor. Not on par with a high-end steakhouse, but you do get a good value here for the buck.
I invited my youngest granddaughter to lunch to welcome her back from her dance studies in NYC at Alvin Ailey studios. Justin was our server. He was professional, yet friendly. My granddaughter had a hamburger, her preference, which was cooked to her liking. I had the grilled breast of chicken on ciabatta. It was tasty. My Scotch pours were generous. Overall, we enjoyed the occasion and look forward to a return by Christmas (we have done this for the past seven or so years) or, most likely, before.
This was our forth trip to Yellow Rose Steak and Chop House. We have taken international guests, and visiting family before and this was a birthday dinner. Each time we have enjoyed excellent service and superb food. On June 4th, they even gave me a free dessert for my birthday! The only disappointment was on a previous visit when they were out of prime rib. Our international guest was greatly anticipating the prime rib (based on our recommendation). Not really Yellow Rose's fault; it was around a holiday and I'm sure the higher-than-average attendance of diners created the shortage.
This was the second visit in 3 months for a special occasion where they had a fixed menu. The first experience was good which prompted our return. This visit started off with them being out of the wine of our choice (which happens). The crab stuffed salmon was very dry, tasting like it had been frozen. The baked potatoes were also hard and dried out. Of the 4 entrees ordered, 2 were not enjoyed. It was not worth the money. Will the 3rd time be a charm?
We really enjoyed the waiter and the atmosphere. We both had the prime rib and it was great. However, the concept of rustic potato wedges might have been better as mashed potatoes. The wine was great, the shrimp & grits was very nice and the cheese cake was great. The host and the waiter were both very attentive and we appreciated their service. The price was a little bit high though we were glad that they could reserve us a table at the last minute.
We had reservations for 7:30 but arrived at 6:50 expecting to wait but were taken directly to a nice booth. Our server (Chris) was attentive and informative plus very accommodating with when to enter our main course order so we didn't have it arrive while eating our appetizers. The food was served hot and it was very good. I had the 8oz fillet while my wife had the jumbo shrimp fettuccine. We were not rushed but just enjoyed our time together and the food.
