Greek dining is as social an experience as it is culinary. Mezedes are the centerpiece of Christos’ menu, influenced by his travels throughout the Greek Isles to gain inspiration.
YEFSI features the traditional and contemporary Greek specialties, such as grilled whole fish, prime chops, meats and an eclectic selection of contemporary appetizers.
YEFSI Estiatorio, lead by Executive Chef/Owner, Christos Christou is a stand-alone restaurant. It is not affiliated with any other locations within Manhattan.
Love this place! Wonderful authentic Greek food, wonderful service, nice, happy ambience—a gem!
Amazing dinner. Great ambiance. Very friendly staff. Got seated right away. Garden seating is beautiful and the food was delicious. Have been there before and will keep going back again and again.
We went to celebrate my son’s 25 th birthday. The food was excellent. I loved the hummus that came initially with bread. Also the rest was delicious, especially the Shrimp Santorini, half of a roast chicken with lemon potatoes and the Grilled Calamari over fava beans. I am still dreaming about the calamari. The atmosphere is nice and the noise level was good at first but gradually was very loud. It’s a very lively place so keep that in mind. Service was okay with lots of staff helping out.
Eggplant special appetizer and branding entree were both excellent. Entire meal was supe
It was a really good place to have a lovely birthday dinner for my boyfriend a another friend. The size and the closeness of the table relative to others is pretty good. Servers and busboys are very attentive. Also they were so nice to bring a dessert for the birthday celebrant.
Excellent service. Food was fresh and tasty. We were seated in back garden on a Sunday evening. It was NY loud but not over bearing. Recommend.
Food and service are outstanding. Management is the best! It is, however, when the place fills up a bit too noisy for conversation without shouting.
Lovely place, excellent food, super service, especially the oh-so-gracious and friendly hostess at the front desk - she made you feel like you were in her home.
Best meal ever. From the fabulous appetizers of calarmari, Greek salad and mixed chips to main courses of bifteki, lamb chops and braised veal. Service was attentive. Loved it!
YEFSI used to be a better restaurant, but it has gone down in quality.
Adorable space with friendly and attentive service. Food was fantastic, particularly the starters! Spicy feta is a must try, and you must end your meal with their decedent baklava!
Yefsi is my favorite neighborhood restaurant! Given how busy it always is, my guess is that it is everyone’s favorite! I usually order the organic chicken or salmon but everything is good on this menu. Try a dinner of several of their authentic Mediterranean appetizers. I prefer the back all year garden room as it is a bit quieter. Also enjoy a meal at the bar where the bartender is terrific. Cheers to Christos the Chef, Thomas the Maitre’d and the hostess!
Yefsi has great Greek food at a reasonable price. Normally it is very noisy, but we were so early that it was almost empty.
Excellent fresh food. A bit too noisy for good conversation that evening. Had a wonderful time anyway...
Yefsi Is a true neighborhood gem. Excellent, authentic Greek food at reasonable prices.
ordered the fish special, whole fish filleted, it was expensive, dry and tasteless!
Food and service were outstanding, but the noise level and heat in the restaurant detracted from the experience
great food, service was amazing until it started getting busy
I’ve been to most of the Greek restaurants in Manhattan and this was my first trip to Yefsi I’ll definitely be back. The menu boasted a superb selection of traditional Greek dishes, way more than most of a seafood focused options. Our waiter was extremely friendly and helpful. Food was all delicious.
A great neighborhood go to spot. Friendly good service and consistently good food.
Food was delicious! I had Greek salad and grilled octopus. At waiter’s suggestion, I combined the two. My sister also loved her dish of striped bass. We will definitely return!
Hadn’t been in several years b/c I rarely cross town, but delighted to see it lived up to my memory of excellent Greek food and Cypriot specialties.
Great brunch! Food and service were fantastic!
Delightful evening. Food delicious, service professional, tables well spaced, and although diners were chatting and enjoying themselves it wasn’t too noisy so we could actually hear each other. We will return often.
The food is amazing! Always a perfect meal here.
Alex was our waiter. He suggested great selections of appetizers, main courses and wine.
Delicious Greek cuisine with excellent service. Tables are close together and it can be loud on a Saturday night but the friendly ambiance more than makes up for that. Will definitely return.
Great food. I was actually a bit surprised at the quality and taste.. mainly bc atmosphere is feels like a mom and pop location.. but the food is exceptional!
I definitely recommend this restaurant.
Always good food our favorite go to neighborhood Greek
restaurant
My son and daughter-in-law were visiting from Clarion,PA and we wanted to celebrate their Anniversary. We had the avgooemomo soup, gardides saganaki, soutzoukakua,Arni souvlakia snd for desert, baklava and galatoboureko.Everything was expertly prepared and absolutely delicious. We had a great time. This is a neighborhood gem. 5 stars plus.
Until last night, we had been regular dinner customers at Yefsi.
Maybe the prices were raised with the new year, but they are totally out of range for the food and atmosphere.
Least expensive glass of wine is $16
Least expensive bottle is $60
Our bill was $150 with one appetizer, 2 fish entrees, one glass of wine and one beer. This is 50% more than other excellent neighborhood restaurants and more than Korali.
We won’t return to Yefsi.
My husband and I were looking for a Greek restaurant close to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. We rarely are on the UES and took a chance on Yefsi. While the food is very good and the prices are average for a restaurant in that area, the service is not great. We arrived a little early for our 6pm reservation and the place was pretty empty. We ordered appetizers and the main courses. Once 6pm hit, the restaurant was overflowing with tables and we didn't see our waitress (I counted two in a spot with 12 or more tables) once we placed our order. The appetizers came out within a reasonable wait time. We waited close to an hour for our main meal before finally being able to flag down the waitstaff. We learned that the kitchen never received our entree orders. Two of the three meals came out as requested. My husband's lamb chops were less cooked than he typically likes. The restaurant comped us a soda and provided a free dessert. Since two members of our party are allergic to tree nuts, they were unable to enjoy the desserts.
Tables were too close together but food was good
Next time I want to enjoy the food at Yetsy I will have take out. The noise was so awful that my friends and I decided to talk after we left the restaurant. I will not go back even though the food was delicious. It is oppressive to eat in such a noisy environment.
The service was very good and the food excellent. Very authentic Greek dishes. Will definitely be back.
The main thing this place has going for it is ambience. The service is quick and pleasant. We ordered 6 plates from the meze portion of the menu, 5 of them were incredibly greasey and overly garlicky. There are just not enough altoids. However, the octopus was a star. Enjoyed my afternoon but won't be looking to visit again anytime soon.
Always wonderful. Great food. Lovely atmosphere. Neighborhood favorite.
Exelent service and food
Warm reception, good service, excellent food! Yefsi is my favorite Greek restaurant and superb in this neighborhood!!
Overpriced-- Just an upscale Greek Diner in nicer surroundings.
