Greek dining is as social an experience as it is culinary. Mezedes are the centerpiece of Christos’ menu, influenced by his travels throughout the Greek Isles to gain inspiration.
YEFSI features the traditional and contemporary Greek specialties, such as grilled whole fish, prime chops, meats and an eclectic selection of contemporary appetizers.
YEFSI Estiatorio, lead by Executive Chef/Owner, Christos Christou is a stand-alone restaurant. It is not affiliated with any other locations within Manhattan.
What Insiders Are Saying
An unexpectedly great Greek restaurant on York Avenue. If we just had a better way to get up here, we'd be here all the time. Who wants to carpool?
Food and drinks were very good. Just too noisy for my taste. Hard to converse.
First time there. Great seafood. A little loud in the far back but not the fault of the place but of the drunk woman at the next table.
Amazing. Alex is an amazing waiter. Santorini Shrimps are the best dish
Was a little loud we were there with our baby p.m. understanding it was 9 PM on a Friday night but I left to take my baby out and when I came back they threw out our food which I wanted wrapped I like the food but oh well
The food was good but unfortunately there was a hair in my piece of bread. Also we arrived on time for our 8 pm reservation and were not seated until 8:30 pm.
Excellent Restaurant!!!! Food is delicious and best lamb chops in NYC.
Very loud, especially the table next to us. Waitstaff nice. Had a glass of Rose, and Branzino with no starter, desert, coffee or special side dish and it cost $68! Too much for what it was- a nice meal, nothing special.
Food was delicious but the restaurant is SUPER loud
Food was fresh and delicious! Our party Had the sea bass, and octopus for entree and dips and zucchini crochettes for appetizers. Would definitely come back
Have been to Yeftsi several times and always enjoy the experience. The entree I ordered which I ordered before has changed to a rather spicy sauce covering the fish. for those who like spice it might be fine, but, for me, it was too much. Otherwise, it is a very nice dining experience.
The food is consistently delicious and the service was wonderful. The prices are just a bit high based on the portions and the noise level is extreme.
Food was awesome. Service was slow on the night we visited.
We went for brunch on Mother's Day. Then finding out there was no brunch that day. The service and food were very good. We sat outside on the patio. It would be nice to have the plastic and windows clean up there. Not the best sight to see while eating.
Mother’s Day lunch was so delicious and the waiters are very attentive. Pretty ambiance too
Amazing food! The owner was so nice and accommodating. Place was crowded but service was great.
This is a wonderful restaurant. The chef is very good and used to cook for Obama. Really great food and reasonable for the Upper Eastside.
The food was very disappointing.
Octopodi, one of their signature dishes, was prepared in a heavy mustard sauce.
Pieces od octopus were very small
Little variety of greek dishes as appetizers
I always have a great meal at yefsi. Ambience is fantastic. I love the indoor/outdoor feel of the back room. Staff is warm and friendly. Food has never disappointed.
I will continue to keep it in my regular rotation!
We picked Easter to visit this wonderful Greek restaurant. Service was great considering the restaurant was completely full.
A m a z i n g !!!!!!!!!!!!
There was nothing wrong with our server, but in general the overall service at the restaurant was rough. We were seated near the service station, and saw a few (not just one!) occasions of glasses fallen and broken in 2hours or so.. Appetizers (octopuses, ceviche...) were good.
Good food. Tables on top of each other
The food is amazing and fresh at Yefsi. The service is excellent. This is like home for us! Highly recommend!
Best Mediterranean food in NYC! The ambiance is lovely and the service is amazing! Hands down fabulous!
Don’t expect to be seated on time , cause when you get seated it’s disappointing
Food was fresh well seasoned and exceptionally delicious. Staff was very attentive patient and helpful. Overall an excellent experience.
This is a terrific neighborhood restaurant. Staff is always friendly and great service. Food and wine list are wonderful. There are not a lot of good restaurants in Yorkville, so hope this one is a keeper for a long time.
Fabulous food fabulous staff a great place to go After work or on the weekend. Make sure to get a reservation.
Delicious food. Great ambiance! Neighborhood gem
Very nice overall. Wonderful menu. Warm hosts.
Greek salad a bit small but delicious.
One complaint: gin and tonic was $16.00. that's ridiculous.
We were seated promptly. The wait staff was friendly and knowledgeable. The food was excellent. It was a lovely evening.
Second visit to Yefsi, first time for brunch. The food was tasty (last time, dinner was very good too!) but the portion was rather small. The sandwiches looked filling, but if you order one of the other plates (smoked salmon, pasta), you might still feel a little hungry after the meal. Otherwise, everything was great.
This was our third time at Yefsi and my wife and I enjoyed the food and the service, The Lavraki was excellent and our salads were good and thought the Greek red and rose wines were some of the best we have had. The Service was friendly and efficient.
Our only negative was the noise level in the back ‘garden’ room. Next time I will request sitting in the main dining room. We will definitely be back!
The food and service are always excellent. In addition, the warm welcome and accommodating staff make it a special occasion on every visit.
Delicious as always! I left stuffed and happy. One of my favorite places on the UES
Food was great as usual...service was not ideal.
The service was excellent --cheerful and welcoming, competent and prompt-- and the food was delicious. The noise level was too high for me, and I missed some of the conversation around our table of five, but that seems to be the fashion in restaurants these days. The food and service made it a memorable experience, so I would definitely recommend the restaurant, but with a warning about the noise level to those who care about that.
Somewhat above average Greek food still does not justify above average prices for Greek food. Very good service. Moderately priced wine list offers some nice Greek and world options. Noisy. Hard surfaces amplify sound. Thankful for no competing sound track.
Wonderful as always!!
Terrific experience. We sat in the garden room and it was delightful. Highly recommend
