Ye Olde College Inn Ratings and Reviews
I was there on vacation with my father. It's a bit out of the way from the French Quarter but not that long of a drive. We got there a little early before our reservation so we took a seat at the bar (it was completely full but 2 people left as we were standing by the bar) and ordered 2 Abita beers. Interestingly there was memorabilia on the walls with Chicago Cubs references, my city.
We got seated at a table and shared the gumbo, crawfish delacroix, and fried bread pudding po-boy. Our waiter was attentive, atmosphere was lively, and chef came out for something behind the bar and we gave him our compliments. Everything was excellent and well worth the drive out. I'm glad we went here on one of our 3 nights here for a taste of Louisianan cuisine.
LOVE LOVE LOVE this restaurant. Service and food are outstanding. Have had several family/friend get togethers here. They have an upstairs loft that will seat 8 to 10 people that is perfect for being able to talk and visit. All the food is so good. You can get a fabulous oyster poboy or a full dinner with amazing side items. The wedge salad and onion rings are amazing too. Service is always good.
We eat here all of the time! It's our "go-to" place for everyday dining, local flavor or special occasions. I had a private party here once that was perfect! Frequented bu lots of locals who all know each other and know good food and drink. Comfort food and finer fare. Great bar with sports on tvs. But wonderful for special occasions. Personal attentions from long-time wait staff, managers and owners.
We love everything about this place! But the food is the star. The farm fresh ingredients always make for the most delectable dishes. The chefs are quite creative and delight your palate in the most scrumptious ways. Try whatever is in season and you can't go wrong. The everyday options never disappoint. The owners are always present and welcoming. The staff is super attentive. Their farm fresh specialty cocktails are great!
On our most recent visit we had the wedge salad which was amazing. Appetizer choice was eggplant with lump crabmeat. Wow!!! My husband had the duck (tender and juicy) and I chose the pasta special. I have been craving that pasta ever since. Dessert was the delicious and delightful flourless chocolate cake. This place does rock! Visit the New Orleans favorite right next door, Rock 'n Bowl.
This is s great place. Really pretty and comfortable which makes for a great dining experience. The longer you sit the more you drink. A win/win. I like their fresh fish. Always delish. And the service is really good too. We had a nice young lady name Annie serve us and she was terrific!
Delicious, healthy food with super fresh ingredients. Simple, wonderful flavours. Not too salty. A fantastic seafood gumbo. Chicken and spetzel was a perfect combination of toothsome textures and delicate flavours. Tasty sides, with lots of vegetable options. Definitely a healthier take on traditional and nouveau New Orleans cooking.
This friendly/fun place is not to be missed. Filled with locals and laughter, if there were six stars it would not be enough. Good food, great staff and always my favorite when visiting New Orleans. Even if you're not a regular, you're treated like one. Johnny and staff do an outstanding job. Be sure to try the mojitos.
Wonderful food and generous portions. The gumbo was amazing almost like a bisque. Specialty cocktail, strawberry mojito , from their on site garden was delicious. Delicious red snapper with topped crab was devine. Customer service superb! Only negative, the eating area is very close to the bar so it is quite noisy. Some type of separation would be great.
Absolutely delicious! I had the Red Fish special and my friend had the Hamburger Steak. Our server, Tori was wonderful! She suggested to start cocktails made with fresh ingredients from the restaurants own garden. I had the Strawberry Mint Mojito and my friend had the fresh Strawberry Margarita. Very refreshing. Look forward to returning very soon!
Welcoming as soon as we walked through the door. 3 Family members that help run the restaurant were walking around talking with customers. Later saw one of them and the owner at the next door at their place Rock n Bowl and they remembered us. Thanked us again for coming to their establishments.
Drinks from the bar were good. Waitress was attentive and knew the menu. Our meals were delicious!!
We made a reservation through open table but we still had to wait thirty minutes to be seated. In that thirty minutes we had to stand in the walkway because there was a large party taking up the bar.
When we were finally seated I had a freshly made strawberry margarita that was amazing. I would definitely recommend the crawfish mac n cheese! The food was great, service was slow.
