Ya Ya's Euro Bistro - Overland Park
There is something about YaYa’s that is both sophisticated and whimsical. The atmosphere and menu are certainly sophisticated. Mosaic tile floors, stone columns and fabric covered wall panels are complemented by heavy beamed ceilings, hand blown chandeliers and curvy wrought-iron railings . The eclectic menu is inspired by a combination of American, French, Italian and Greek cuisines. Mediterranean Euro bites share the menu with oak fired pizzas baked in our own brick oven; rich, creative pastas and an array of the freshest seafood dishes and innovative meat entrees.
Perhaps the whimsical is the name itself and what it conjures up. Yia Yia means grandmother. The restaurant is actually named after co-founder Paul Khoury’s own grandmother, who as the wife of an ambassador, traveled in many European countries gathering ideas for her own special recipes.

We both had Caesar salads. Without meat, they are very boring. No croutons. Very little cheese. Service was very good. Our server was very upbeat, pleasant, and efficient.
I like Ya Ya's and think its a solid restaurant, but I think the issue is the cost. It's slightly costly and the food never blows me away. Good not great. The patio is wonderful and the happy hour is the best part. Definitely worth going, but for me, its not a common visit.
Ya Ya's has always been one of my faves, and it didn't disappoint this time. Love the food selection and the overall service and ambiance of the restaurant.
The reason for my average rating this time:
1) We were in on April 11th for our Anniversary - which was indicated when we made our reservation and not one mention of it. We weren’t expecting anything free or some big production but I simple acknowledgement of it would have been nice. Otherwise, just don’t ask if it is a special occasion.
2) We came to Ya Ya’s specifically because we love the chocolate soufflé and when we went to order it with our dinner were told it was discontinued. Bummer. It was a fav!
3) my husband ordered the spicy pasta dish (sorry I can’t remember the name). Anyway, NO mention of goat cheese in the description and he has a huge aversion to soft cheeses - especially goat cheese. He started to send it back but then hated to complain so I traded my meal with him because I like goat cheese. So he ate my lobster pasta dish.
4) Our server was very nice and polite but you could tell he was either nervous or new. Overall he did a nice job only improvement would be watching for dirty plates. Ours sat there for several passes of servers walking by (not just ours).
Anyway, we will be back but just wanted to let you know that our experience wasn’t what we have grown to expect at Ya Ya’s. We aren’t complainers but also know that people can’t change things if they don’t have feed back. The biggest upset was the goat cheese. That should definitely be listed for that item. Thanks so much for reading my review.
I took my wife there for her Birthday we would of liked to have dinner on the patio but her Allergies were bothering her so bad so we had a wonderful dinner inside we have not eaten there for awhile I almost forgot how good the food is there.
Had a most enjoyable lunch - the special was delicious. As the restaurant was not busy we were able to say on after we had finished and paid for our meals to catch up on our news.
I can always count on the food being wonderful and the service as well. The baba ganoush is a real treat, too. I would highly recommend for lunch or dinner.
Ya Ya’s never disappoints. Great food, service, and atmosphere. It’s a regular spot for us on date night. We love it.
I would rate higher but the reservation we made was not handled as well as it could. Yes, there were several large parties but the restaurant could have alerted us better about this. Our server di do as best as he could as he was spread out all over the restaurant. I will add though the food was great!
Very good. Food cooked to perfection
Great food. Our server was very good. Annoying busboys loitering all evening.
Waitress brought us water, told us the specials and then disappeared. Had to ask another server to let our server know we wanted to order. Food took a very long time to be served and when it came out it was cold and dry. Manager offered us different meals but did not take care of the bill for our trouble. I will probably not be back.
I ordered the Paella which was one of their evening specials which included muscles as an ingredient. A large percent of my muscle shells had nothing in them and the server was very gracious in seeing that they were replaced. The entree was delicious and the service was very good. I thought the booth we were sitting in was a bit uncomfortable because the seat was too deep and I was unable to sit and support my back. Next time I will just request a table. Overall a very good experience.
Sommelier is amazing! All props to him for providing the best service.
We had a party of 6 after all & the hostess graciously made it possible for a table of 6, removing a chair to make space for a wheelchair to go. We had requested Larry as our server and, once again he made our visit a highlight for the two birthday guests by making the desserts complimentary!
While our lunches were delicious and nicely presented on the plates , the service we had was exceptional. Rafe was delightful as well as very professional. My friend and I were celebrating her birthday and Rafe was attentive without interferring or hovering. He had a nice personality and a lovely sense of humor. He made our birthday celebration lunch very special. He is an asset to the restaurant.
This was a wonderful place to celebrate our anniversary. Lauren was an exceptional waitress. The half price bottle of wine was a surprise...it happens every Wednesday and Sunday. We will be back often.
Mark the server, was fantastic! Food was very good except for Shrimp paella. It was disappointingly bland.
Delicious flavorful food and its easy to be gluten free. Thanks.
Always a nice experience. Food was delicious and service was fantastic.
Wonderful Sunday brunch with so Many selections! Not your standard brunch.... salad, huge shrimp, burnt ends, pancakes, cast iron French toast, eggs any way, omelets, omg cinnamon rolls! Missed the early bird discount this week, but still the best value!
It's our new 'go to' in JOCO. The food, service - EVERYTHING was spot on. Only thing that could be 'better' - if the bar was larger with more seats. Bar area too small, but bartenders excellent all respects.
YaYa's has been my favorite restaurant since you were at 119th street. Larry has been a wonderful waiter and I'm always glad to sit at his table. Thanks for keeping your standards so high.
Our server Bailey was amazing! Attentive yet gave us space and time to enjoy our meals. It was a fantastic evening
Outstanding food, service and atmosphere. I will be going back for lunch and dinner.
Amazing like expected.
Short rib and the scallops are the two best dishes on any menu. Anywhere. Hands down.
Superb all the way around. Our servers were kind, helpful and went out of their way to serve us.
Excellent service and was attentive to special occasion.
We went with another couple during happy hour. Enjoyed the bottle of wine & appetizer special. Then selected salads and small plates as our entrees. The server was very patient w us and gave us time to finish appetizers before the main course. Food was great.
The food was delicious! The service was very good. Larry, our waiter, is impeccable in making sure we want to return time and again, which we do.
Outstanding food and server (Alayna). All four in my party agreed and were happy with their experience.
Our waiter was very accommodating and knowledgeable. The food was delicious and the drinks were awesome!
Great dining experience. Service was exceptional, server recommended their special that evening and he was spot on. Food was very good. Caught the end of Happy Hour and was nice to enjoy drink specials and appetizer.
First time going to YaYa's for Sunday brunch. Definitely bring your appetite. So many beautiful and tasty options, from traditional breakfast fare (omelets, Eggs Benedict, waffles, bacon, sausage, biscuits and gravy, etc.) to salads (arugula, beets and orange supremes; smoked salmon, capers, and kale) along with barbecue ribs, carved ham, Campo Lindo chicken (with olives and caper berries) and warm cinnamon rolls brought to your table. Excellent meal!
The caesar salad was terrible. The dressing had no flavor and the lettuce was served with the white core. The artichoke dip was so strong in smoke flavor that we had to send it back. The crab fettuccine had slivers of shell casing that were inedible. The management handled these problems well. They didn't charge us for the crab dish and replaced our appetizer and salad. The dessert was good but not outstanding which I would expect for a restaurant of this caliber.
Ya-Ya’s is an excellent restaurant and is one of our favorites in Overland Park. Our entries were excellent and the service is very good. The bar scene is energetic and always crowded. This is always a good choice when dining in Overland Park. Highly recommended and you will need a reservation.
Oh, dear! I was SO disappointed. This was our Valentines Day dinner. The expensive crab pasta was worse than fast food. The pasta was stuck together, there were only about five bites of crab, there was cartilage in several bites and the flavor profile was nonexistent. My husband’s dinner was also bland. My expectations for a lovely dinner were trashed. I could have gotten this for half the price pretty much anywhere. At least the wine was good. I’ve had good experiences here, but this may be my last visit.
The menu and food were good. The restaurant was quiet, comfortable and well appointed.
I would have given it a better rating but this time we had a couple problems and were disappointed. It was Valentine's day and it was busy and service was slow. When we got our entrees, the salad that was ordered did not come. The young man who brought the entrees was not our waiter. He said he would check on the salad and he also offered to add cheese to the my linguine entree and I said I'd like that. He never came back with the salad or the cheese. We were just finished with our meal when our regular waiter finally came by and I explained what had happened. I'm assuming this would be a rare occurrence.
Very nice lunch. Larry, our waiter, made the experience that much nicer.
