Ya Ya's Euro Bistro - Overland Park
There is something about YaYa’s that is both sophisticated and whimsical. The atmosphere and menu are certainly sophisticated. Mosaic tile floors, stone columns and fabric covered wall panels are complemented by heavy beamed ceilings, hand blown chandeliers and curvy wrought-iron railings . The eclectic menu is inspired by a combination of American, French, Italian and Greek cuisines. Mediterranean Euro bites share the menu with oak fired pizzas baked in our own brick oven; rich, creative pastas and an array of the freshest seafood dishes and innovative meat entrees.
Perhaps the whimsical is the name itself and what it conjures up. Yia Yia means grandmother. The restaurant is actually named after co-founder Paul Khoury’s own grandmother, who as the wife of an ambassador, traveled in many European countries gathering ideas for her own special recipes.
First time going to YaYa's for Sunday brunch. Definitely bring your appetite. So many beautiful and tasty options, from traditional breakfast fare (omelets, Eggs Benedict, waffles, bacon, sausage, biscuits and gravy, etc.) to salads (arugula, beets and orange supremes; smoked salmon, capers, and kale) along with barbecue ribs, carved ham, Campo Lindo chicken (with olives and caper berries) and warm cinnamon rolls brought to your table. Excellent meal!
The caesar salad was terrible. The dressing had no flavor and the lettuce was served with the white core. The artichoke dip was so strong in smoke flavor that we had to send it back. The crab fettuccine had slivers of shell casing that were inedible. The management handled these problems well. They didn't charge us for the crab dish and replaced our appetizer and salad. The dessert was good but not outstanding which I would expect for a restaurant of this caliber.
Ya-Ya’s is an excellent restaurant and is one of our favorites in Overland Park. Our entries were excellent and the service is very good. The bar scene is energetic and always crowded. This is always a good choice when dining in Overland Park. Highly recommended and you will need a reservation.
Oh, dear! I was SO disappointed. This was our Valentines Day dinner. The expensive crab pasta was worse than fast food. The pasta was stuck together, there were only about five bites of crab, there was cartilage in several bites and the flavor profile was nonexistent. My husband’s dinner was also bland. My expectations for a lovely dinner were trashed. I could have gotten this for half the price pretty much anywhere. At least the wine was good. I’ve had good experiences here, but this may be my last visit.
The menu and food were good. The restaurant was quiet, comfortable and well appointed.
I would have given it a better rating but this time we had a couple problems and were disappointed. It was Valentine's day and it was busy and service was slow. When we got our entrees, the salad that was ordered did not come. The young man who brought the entrees was not our waiter. He said he would check on the salad and he also offered to add cheese to the my linguine entree and I said I'd like that. He never came back with the salad or the cheese. We were just finished with our meal when our regular waiter finally came by and I explained what had happened. I'm assuming this would be a rare occurrence.
Very nice lunch. Larry, our waiter, made the experience that much nicer.
Great service Great Food
Great food, great price, excellent service. Good for special occasions or just everyday
Babaganoush is amazing! I did the power lunch, which was great except for the olive oil icecream was as bad as it sounds. I was curious, but that was a definite flavor miss, which is unusual. The restaurant is usually wonderful on flavors.
Everything was great. Service and food was amazing. The Lobster fettuccini was too fishy tasting though. We had the Chilean sea bass, the scallops, and the short ribs also though and all of those were delicious. The risotto Served with the sea bass was my personal favorite. I will say that it was 1/2 off bottles of wine night and the 1/2 off price was still a 200% markup on the regular price if you were to buy it at a store. We had to laugh a bit about that.
Numerous menu items really/really good (trout OR chicken plates difficult choice).
"Chris" was our waiter - EXCEPTIONAL all regards.
Place was packed and backed up on reservations when we arrived. Then the staff took over, from the hosts, to the bartenders all worked hard to take care of us while a table opened up. They worked through the rush and we had a great meal.
Server excellent. Noise level made dining uncomfortable.
Fewer tables and acoustical redesign badly needed.
Dinner with friends.
I had the short ribs! Savory and tender. Mash potato was creamy and delicious. The wine pairing recommendations of the waiter were superb. Our whole party raves about the food. Molly, our waiter, was very attentive and helpful.
Mom and I have decided this is our favorite brunch spot! The food is delicious, the service outstanding and the variety of brunch buffet choices comprehensive. All in all, a great way to start our Sunday.
We enjoy the trout so much; it is our go to favorite. Mark was great and served us well while we visited with out of town friends over a delicious and lengthy lunch. They loved their salmon and EVERYONE enjoyed the brownie a la mode. THAT BROWNIE!! Thanks for a lovely experience.
Every time I come to Ya Ya's I ask myself, why don't I come here more often? I'm not certain I've had a bad meal or experience, and the servers have been around a while and are some of the best. On this occasion we had the scallops and the pork chop, followed by the phyllo brownie dessert. As usual, everything was awesome.
Steak and Brussels sprouts lacked seasoning. Gluten free pizza was very disappointing.
Special duck appetizer was phenomenal! So was beef entree. I love scallops and they were cooked perfectly. Only negative was seasoning of orzo/veg mix served w scallops. Excellent cocktails as well.
Usually a decent restaurant but this evening visit was below par. Their brunch served on Sunday is still the time to go to eat here. They have dropped several items off menu and not as good in my opinion as in the past.
Wait staff was phenomenal as always. I asked them to turn down music and they did. Consistently a favorite.
We celebrated a birthday at Ya Ya's and it was a nice evening. Our server was very patient while we visited and ultimately decided on an appetizer and our entrees. The complimentary Baba Ganoush and warm bread were a great way to ease into dinner as we enjoyed our cocktails. Of course, one can never go wrong with Bill's Chicken Salad (with a side of truffle fries!) enjoyed by the ladies while the gents ordered Chilean sea bass and the Duroc pork chop. All entrees were very good. As it was a birthday, the celebrant chose a complimentary dessert...the apple cobbler...that he willingly shared. Overall, the evening was very pleasant and our server was attentive and helpful. We will definitely celebrate future special occasions at Ya Ya's.
had the angel hair pomodoro with shrimp, sauce was very good and pasta was well-drained, not runny. a very nice meal.
Great evening. Food was fantastic and service was great! Never disappointed when coming here.
My food (scallops) were cold and overpriced. The ambiance was good, the drinks were very good. Waiter (Mark) was tremendous. Overall, disappointed in the serving temperature of my food.
Server Alex was excellent. YaYas is a repeat fav for our luncheons. Our birthday gal enjoyed her outing! Thank you Alex.
Nice atmosphere - finding something to order twice has been a challenge. I am still looking for something that I would order again.
Ya YA's has been a go to for some time now. However I was terribly disappointed in my food and the prices seem to have taken a sharp rise, $29.00 for a lunch entree seems a little steep for Ya Ya's. And the wine prices seemed higher than I remembered. Probably won't return.
Great! Always enjoy dining here and bring family and friends!
We had a fantastic time! Met friends for dinner, best seat in the house in my opinion, food was great, service excellent. It was just a wonderful all around experience!
Great service!!! Food was delicious & the drinks were very good. Very fun atmosphere too !!
Restaurant week... need I say more? Food was extra yummy and the place was hopping. Really good time.
Perfect night out for restaurant week. Everything was delicious and our waiter, Walter, was one of the best we've had in ages (a bit corny, but provided excellent service). We highly recommend the bruschetta which is deconstructed and amazing. It's actually a shame that not all of the offerings are on the regular menu. Hopefully the brown butter cake (which is more of a tart), finds it's way to the brunch buffet.
I've always liked YaYa's however lately the food has not been as good. I ordered the flank stack special and it was so grizzled that I couldn't event cut it with a steak knife. My guest ordered a chicken dish that was very dry......we were disappointed in our meal.
We went for Restaurant Week and ate from that menu. The baba ganoush was delicious, as were the appetizers (pita and hummas and bruschetta). The King Crab Fetuccine was yummy and the fish in the Seafood Panache a bit dry. We both had the brown butter cake and it was okay, but we wouldn't get it again. The service was outstanding and we enjoyed the atmosphere, though it was a bit loud for our taste. We'll go back!
I loved my entire experience. The food was great, the service, the drinks. I just can’t speak highly enough of the place. 1st time going but definitely not the last.
Disappointed in the king crab fettuccine. I had to look real hard to find any crab meat.
We invited my mom for her birthday and all three of us enjoy everything there. It was excelente. We widely recommend Yaya’s Restaurant.
