Bringing the best fried chicken and freshest farm ingredients from Florida and Georgia to the table since 2011, Yardbird has since garnered the praises of the James Beard Foundation as a semi-finalist for “Best New Restaurant South” and as one of Bon Appétit’s “50 Best New Restaurants” in 2012. Yardbird was recommended to me by a few of my friends and I was not disappointed. The food was amazing, the service was excellent. We started off with the She Crab soup, the devil eggs and the chicken biscuits. The servings were so big that could have been our entire meal. However for the entry we had the short rib and the peach cobbler for dessert. WAY TOO MUCH FOOD...but oh so good!
I would definitely recommend to others.
The waitress Becca? was brilliant and by far the best service we had during our visit in South Beach Miami. She made us feel very welcome and was very informative which made a welcome change from the poor service we had experienced in Miami.
This restaurant has a real buzz and is worth going to but book first as there is a long wait for tables.
Food is American Southern style cooking and different to anything I have had before and glad we tried it.
Yardbird is always a good idea. This place has some of the best southern food, as if you were deep in the Carolinas, all the way down in South Beach. The drinks are delicious and creative, and the food takes southern staples like fried green tomatoes and chicken and waffles and takes it to the next level. The service is also amazing - you won't be disappointed.
We have had dinner here every year that we’ve vacationed in South Beach.
We traveled elsewhere last year but made a reservation at Yardbird as soon as we knew we’d be in South Beach this past week.
Very disappointing experience this time. The menu has changed and the wonderful charred okra is off the menu , now.
I found two black hairs in my salad. Gross.
With a location in Las Vegas (and soon Beverly Hills), I remember bookmarking this place and was happy to realize they have it in Miami Beach as well, perhaps even started it there. So for our short trip, I booked a table to take the family for brunch not knowing how necessary it really was given it was a Monday. Well, what do ya know? We walked in and the place was poppin' with one beautiful booth in the middle of the restaurant waiting for us to occupy like VIPs. The interior was beautiful - modern and edgy with gray hues all around; sure makes for an upscale dining experience.
Since I always associate brunch with Southern food, it was a no-brainer for me to order their hefty plate of CHICKEN 'N' Watermelon 'N' WAFFLES ($36). Seasoned and fried until perfectly juicy and golden, the chicken was delicious, the waffle even better, while the chilled spiced watermelon was the best. Serving was enough for two so plan to share this.
If you prefer biscuits and a portion for one, the BLUE PLATE SPECIAL ($15) would be ideal with two pieces of fried chicken plus the cubes of watermelon. We ordered a side of SKILLET CORNBREAD ($9) consisting of power ingredients such as bacon, sharp cheddar cheese, and jalapenos topped with a mound of semi-melted honey better. Good stuff.
Not like we needed it, we got the MINI BEIGNETS ($10) for dessert with nutella filling and a drizzle of powdered sugar. This was made fresh and served warm - a winner for anyone with a sweet tooth.
What ya waitin’ for? Book your table already.
Fun place good food prices on the higher side given the simple nature of food but everything was really yummy ... would recommend a little more option of fried chicken for kids size as it looks like lots of kids do come here ... drinks are pretty stiff ... food came super fast over all good experience
Yardbird clearly knows it’s southern cuisine and hospitality. We were greeted by a friendly hostess and even though we were 20 minutes late, we were seated immediately.
Soon we were welcomed by our server Joseph, he graciously went over the menu and pointed out the highlights, he got our appetizers in quickly and continued to tour guide us through our experience.
The food was exceptional, chicken and waffles, shrimp and grits, fried green tomatoes and deviled eggs were delightful.
The cocktails were well presented and despite what they belied in print were very balanced and well crafted.
We sat beside the kitchen and even the chef on expo that day was nothing less than a gentleman.
Overall, Joseph was the deciding factor as to why this was a great time. His courtesy, attention to detail, humor and knowledge of the menu put us as ease and this is easily a no brainer for a return visit every time I come to South Beach, not to mention a recommendation for any of friends and family that plan to visit.
This was one of our most wonderful dining experiences ever! We advised our waitress that we had a vegan in our group. The Executive Chef Elliott came out personally to introduce himself and see what our daughter wanted to eat. He told her everything that he had in the kitchen and made her a terrific vegan meal. All the other food was outstanding as well.
