Food was cold and overpriced.
Yank Sing is always a crowd pleaser. Food and service are both solid and consistent.
Beware...you will be offered many plates at a very rapid pace when you first arrive (and are hungry) and no prices are offered. Ask for prices first if you care. When you get the bill, you may be shocked, as we were, that a tiny piece of fish costs $21. Way too expensive for the quality of food.
This is one of the few places I make an effort to dine in then traveling to SF
I have been going to Yank Sing since I was kid and it was just a small little dim sum place on Broadway...still outstanding. Prices are quite a bit higher and the setting is certainly upscale. Met for work and as it cleared out, the staff allowed us to continue discussing at the table until 3 and even sent us more tea, etc.
Nice dim sum. We went there on a Saturday with reservations. Not too crowded, service was quick and frequent. The room temperature was quite cool though as they kept the outside door open. Ended up costing much more expensive than expected!
Very central location for dim sum, and mostly of good quality, but rather expensive.
Good food, We went right when it opened and not all the food was ready. We only saw dumplings for first 45 minutes. Also the carts stuck to one side of restaurant and didn’t come our way often. Servers were friendly and food was good. The spinach dumplings only came out near the end but we’re worth the wait.
Went for lunch and our table was never empty of food. Not only , was it delicious but plentiful. Service was top notch and the place was packed. I would recommend reservations, and we went at lunch time.
Was fortunate enough to land a nice lunch-time table and enjoy another delicious dim sum lunch with a client today. As always, the Sea Bass was the star of the show, but every other dish was also tasty.
Can't wait to return soon. Thanks!
Our server, Karry, was spectacular. She accommodated all of our requests including dietary, and had a huge smile every time she came by to check on us. Best service at a Chinese restaurant I’ve ever had. The food was good too, according to my family. I’m gluten free so very little that I could eat. It would be great to have more GF options to take my experience up a notch.
A trip to SF would not be complete without at least one meal at Yank Sing. We prefer the Stevenson venue, but they're both delicious. Just thinking about it makes me want it again!!
If you’re looking for an authentic way to experience dim sum Hong Kong style, try this place! These little delicate bites are delivered on trolleys wheeled around the restaurant straight out of the kitchen. All the dim sum served are based on traditional recipes and would satisfy even the most discerning palates.
Lovely dim sum place
The food is ok, nothing too special. It's fast but overpriced. They wouldn't seat me until my one other party member had arrived, despite an empty dining room and the fact that I'd shown up 5-10 minutes early to my reservation, which seemed petty. There's a lot better dim sum over in Chinatown, so I'd skip this place to check those places out!
Super great service, wonderful food
The quality of the food is always delicious, but this visit, the wait was particularly long for the carts to come around. We got there about an hour after opening on a Sunday morning. The restaurant was about half full. We had ordered Peking duck and were told they were bringing the duck from another location and it would be about fifteen minutes. Fifteen turned into 30. When I asked again...it seemed they had forgotten it. The duck was cold but the meat was delicious. Just not the usual standard.
Great Shanghai dumplings and other dim sums!!!
But a little bit expensive. Overall one of the best dim sum place.
I think we were there on an off day. They kept coming around with the same food,,,very little choice. We barely sat down when the bombarded us with the carts, then they ignored us and we had to ask former food. Rather disappointing since it can be a rather expensve place.
Everything was great!
Always the freshest high-quality ingredients cooked to perfection. Best in SF.
Overpriced. My food was cold some was hot. They should not have taken a 3:30 reservations if they are in a hurry to get us out by 4:00. Too many other great places in the city for Chinese. It’s too bad last time we went is was amazing
Extremely over priced $140 for two people? The check seemed to have errors but the pricing is very unclear
Excellent Dim Sum; service slow, engaging clientele
Best Dim Sum in San Francisco for > 40 years!
truly amazing ;))
Great dim sum in the Union Square area! We had reservations at 11:15..once the regular lunch hour started, it was super-crowded, so reservations recommended. The staff is on top of it - nice, quick, efficient. You can accept any of the offerings as they walk around the restaurant, but there is also a list of the dim sum items, so if you want something you don't see, just request it. It can get a little pricey depending on what you choose, but everything was delicious. We will definitely go back next time we are in San Francisco... You have to get the sesame balls for dessert!
The food was great. The restaurant environment is very pleasant. The price was about right.
Service was very attentive but some of the food was not hot.
Sorry they completely missed the mark. The food was cold and I believe it was due to us arriving at 2:00. Last round before closing. Have been to the other location and it was good. Very disappointed $120+ no alcohol only food. Won’t be back.
Heard that the Stevenson Street site was quite different from the other site. Will try alternate site next. Food was great!
I used to love Yank Sing and thought it was excellent caliber. The was totally u derwhelmimg. The har gow were very fresh. But the soup dumplings were raw. The filling was mushy and the wrapper was not cooked through. We were worried about the raw pork. The flavors were not anything special. The bill was $80 for two people and we didn’t order anything expensive like duck, fish or beef. One shrimp and the rest veggie. Only tea. No alcohol.
This is my fave SF dim sum place. FOOD, SERVICE, AMBIANCE are all amazing!!
JJ our host was great and honored our reservation right onetime. food is phenomenal...
can't get enough. Egg custard tarts - best in the west!!!!
I LOVE YANK SING!
The Dim Sum offerings are plentiful and varied. How can you go wrong with Peking Duck to start? Each plate is fresh and distinctive. The service is unhurried and polite. The restaurant on Stevenson is stylish and filled with light. It is a quiet refuge in a quiet alley off of Market. The wine list is very good. I enjoyed an Oregon Pinot Gris with my feast. The shrimp dumplings were particularly good!
Happy to revisit Yank Sing after many years. Delicious, varied, seemingly authentic Chinese food; more pricey than I recall but then this is SF and the times have changed.
Food is always delicious. Service accommodating. Price a little on the high side but food is good. Would recommend it to people in the downtown area if they are interested in having dim sum.
Amazing!!!! A bit pricey on a few things but absolutely delicious.
The food and service are excellent. It's a pricey meal but worth it. I highly recommend it.
Very good New Year spot!
Always outstanding! The food is amazing and consistent, per usual.
