Great service. Different presentation with Covid (no steaming cart service). But food is as great as ever.
soup dumplings are so good; the food is just amazing;
They have done a fine job with Covid precautions
We had our traditional after Thanksgiving lunch. Luckily they have an outdoor patio. You now pre order your food and it was delicious as always!!!
We're sad that it's become too cold for us to enjoy dining at Yank Sing Stevenson. The heaters seem to be hung too high to be effective, and the cold wind whistles through. The food from the limited menu is still very good, but having two or three dishes brought all at once means that some food is cold by the time you get to it. We love the soup dumplings, the pot stickers, the mushroom dumplings, the sauteed string beans, and the honey walnut prawns. Until the weather warms up again, we'll be doing takeout from this place.
Maitre’d was horrible. Didn’t honor reservation and didn’t take order. Fortunately his female counter part stepped in and helped us. She was great - he was clueless!
Lena was very helpful
The restaurant had a COVID setup and was very diligent about taking all precautions. Dining sets (tables and wipes and chopsticks were pre-sealed snd so we’re the chili and soy sauce). All staff was diligent with gloves and masks and distance. Staff was WONDERFUL, very attentive, thoughtful, helpful and VERY gracious. The food was still as wonderful as I remembered it to be. (We ordered about $160 between the 2 of us and brought a bunch of food home which I was glad to do. This restaurant has always been my favorite dim sum place since the early 1990’s. I brought my best friend for her birthday snd she had never been to Yank Sing and I explained the restaurant’s history and that it had been serving the financial district for decades and often availability for seating was difficult. She absolutely loved it! We can’t wait to go back!
Covid conditions and blustery cold outdoors. love food at both locations lack of indoor seating is challenging.
Brought family from out of town. Food was very good!
Excellent food and service. We arrived at 2:45, they were closing at 3:00. We never felt rush. My wife was wearing a boot due to her broken ankle and needed to go to the bathroom, they had someone accompany her the whole way and waited for her. Dim sum is definitely one of the best in San Francisco. It reminded me when I was eating in Hong Kong. We can’t wait to go back.
Everything was delicious 😋
It was not the restaurants fault that the mayor closed the indoor seating. It was really cold outside. Food was delicious as always. Bummer that the menu was limited too. Always a San Francisco treat. Totally a cool to go spot for take out.
Excellent Dim Sum. Not the full menu, but great choices. The service was fast and the food hot. The outdoor seating is a bit chilly, even with the heaters, so layers are necessary.
We just love Yank Sing / best dim sum ever. The fresh egg tarts are to die for. Everything is outstanding, but the Shanghai dumplings & honey walnut prawns particularly stand out out as terrific. The staff and maitre d are efficient, knowledgeable and very friendly. We accidentally left a jacket, and the maitre d came running after us to return it.
I would normally give Yank Sing five stars all the way but these are different times and I appreciate that the owners and staff are doing the best they can. I do miss my favorite dishes like Peking duck and squab lettuce cups. All I ate was four kinds of dumplings. Next time I’ll try the soup. I’d go again, of course, as it is one of my favorite restaurants. Thanks to Yank Sing for being open.
All the food was perfect. Great flavour, very nice each dish
Overpriced mundane dim sum (average to below average quality and taste, but top-notch price). Noodle soups are of the lowest quality I have seen (I have seen better store-bought instant noodles). I will never return.
We are okay with the abbreviated menu, but the outside is just TOO COLD. The food is really good, but because the whole order comes at once, half the meal is cold when it should be hot. Would be much happier if there were more heat sources and if the dishes could be brought in 3 or more stages to keep them hot. And we are sad that baked pork buns are not on the menu. We will eat here often, but we will pick the warmest days we can!
I had a reservation and had to wait an extra 30min for them to sit those who came before me without reservations.
Very rude woman manager greeting (more like yelling) us in. We were not clear about their Covid procedures because every places are different. Not a real dining but more like doing your takes and eat at their table outdoor. However, we do not deserve rude manners from this manager. Foods are not even that good for the price. Go to Harborview and enjoy your real dining at their beautiful view outdoor patio instead!
This was our first visit to Yank Sing under the pandemic restrictions. It felt unfamiliar to pre-order our dishes from a more limited menu, but the quality of food was as good as we remembered. The service was efficient and pleasant. We'll definitely be back!
Perfect place for lunch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They set their dining experience up perfectly for the times.
Yank Sing is always outstanding. I have never had a bad meal there and have gone there (except during the closure) with a friend or my husband at least once per month for years. And now and then, when downtown, on my own. Food, staff, service all are excellent. YS is one of my favorites in San Francisco.
The menu is pretty paired down and it stings a bit to pay premium cost to eat on disposable plates and silverware due to Covid. The service was extremely lacking. We sat for 30 minutes after finishing our food waiting to order more & get more tea trying in vain to flag a waiter down. They never came back to check on us after we ordered.
LOVE the dumplings!! And the staff!!! Can’t say enough!! Seeing Shelly at this location made my day!! She is so warm and friendly!! One reason we keep coming back!!
Need to order from a very small choice menu before you sit down. Food was ok but not what I am use too. Way to expensive for ok food.
Sitting outside was pleasant - we were near plants and etched glass. Their dim sum is the best in the Bay Area, though a little pricey. It was a great treat.
Lunch for 6 was over $300. I thought meal was over priced.
Yank Sing has always been great. Yank Sing during Covid is ok. I would’ve preferred to not have had to eat food off of paper plates, utensils and drink water out of a paper cup. One has to order their food beforehand with the hostess before you get to sit down. I think I’ll wait to go back when ever this pandemic is over
Now that they’ve reopened, the prices have increased so much that it’s not worth it to eat there anymore. Furthermore the menu is very limited. They should have been up front about the limited menu items. If I knew, I wouldn’t have made a reservation.
There's nothing special about Yank Sing. I've been to plenty of dim sum places and I didn't find the food much better than what I can get at bakeries for a fraction of the price. In the midst of COVID there was no cart service, so the fun was out. I've been to places with cart service in the Richmond and in Oakland with better food at a lower price, so the that doesn't even make up for the price. The one big plus, and the main reason I chose Yank Sing, is the outdoor dining. They have a pretty nice set up for that. Still, I'm not sure it was worth 3 times as much as I would have spent on the lower end.
Delicious dim sum. Totally hit the spot highly recommend tons of room for outdoor dining a rarity in SF right now
As always the food was great but we missed all the different options going by on the carts. Paper trays in lieu of plates was disappointing.
We love Yank Sing and we will be back.
Great food, good service, waited a little too long for the bill, but that was at the end of the meal and everyone there was doing everything possible to keep things sanitized.
Great food as always. Miss the dim sum carts, but ordering off the menu was fine. Limited menu offerings, but they had all our favorites. COVID adherence seemed very high. Plate, napkin, chopsticks, fork, wipes were provided in a sealed plastic wrap.
miss the one at Ricon Center...food still good but ambiance is lacking
They are doing a great job with patio dining. Super efficient good service, pretty patio well spaced, and the food is excellent.
Pretty efficient set up. Single use dishes and utensils, outdoor dining, and contactless service. Food was great. First soup dumplings since Coronavirus. Would definitely come back.
