Great dim sum in the Union Square area! We had reservations at 11:15..once the regular lunch hour started, it was super-crowded, so reservations recommended. The staff is on top of it - nice, quick, efficient. You can accept any of the offerings as they walk around the restaurant, but there is also a list of the dim sum items, so if you want something you don't see, just request it. It can get a little pricey depending on what you choose, but everything was delicious. We will definitely go back next time we are in San Francisco... You have to get the sesame balls for dessert!

Sorry they completely missed the mark. The food was cold and I believe it was due to us arriving at 2:00. Last round before closing. Have been to the other location and it was good. Very disappointed $120+ no alcohol only food. Won’t be back.

I used to love Yank Sing and thought it was excellent caliber. The was totally u derwhelmimg. The har gow were very fresh. But the soup dumplings were raw. The filling was mushy and the wrapper was not cooked through. We were worried about the raw pork. The flavors were not anything special. The bill was $80 for two people and we didn’t order anything expensive like duck, fish or beef. One shrimp and the rest veggie. Only tea. No alcohol.

The Dim Sum offerings are plentiful and varied. How can you go wrong with Peking Duck to start? Each plate is fresh and distinctive. The service is unhurried and polite. The restaurant on Stevenson is stylish and filled with light. It is a quiet refuge in a quiet alley off of Market. The wine list is very good. I enjoyed an Oregon Pinot Gris with my feast. The shrimp dumplings were particularly good!

Happy to revisit Yank Sing after many years. Delicious, varied, seemingly authentic Chinese food; more pricey than I recall but then this is SF and the times have changed.

Food is always delicious. Service accommodating. Price a little on the high side but food is good. Would recommend it to people in the downtown area if they are interested in having dim sum.

Our experience was just ok. A little unfair to review, as we got there at 2:30, but still felt that one should not feel rushed out in an upscale dim sum restaurant.

It’s more a famous name than what it really is. If you don’t have a reservation it’s difficult to get a table. We finally had a reservation and went to eat the famous Yank Sing.
If your reservation is after 1pm. Forget it,
Most of the good plates are sold out. So the signature plates we couldn’t try them. Too expensive for what you get.

Sooooooooo good. Best service ever at Yank Sing. They seemed to know exactly what we wanted from the get go-the carts which appeared immediately had exactly what we wanted the most urgently. We joked they have our number via facial recognition software or reservation/bill from previous visits. Regardless, loved it. No waiting and asking for things, they just came early and often. I wish they would have sauteed pea shoots and that their cabbage grapefruit walnut salad is as good as Slanted Door, but nobody's perfect. Best soup dumplings I've ever had. Sea bass is DELISH. Their hot sauce is a food group. Bam Bam Bam.

Was craving for dimsum on Christmas Day and this place did not disappoint. Had the everyday staples (the chicken feet was excellent) although they didn’t have the cheung fan as an option. Overall extremely happy to eat well on Christmas Day especially when most restaurants were closed.

All good... Bar it was just too cold even inside to fully enjoy. Just the 2 restrooms for such a size is not enough. Should have vacant/occupied on the door handles too.

The food was not what I remembered. They left the side door opened which made the food colder, faster. This may be the reason why the food did not taste as good as it is supposed to taste like.
The service is always great there.

Went for my birthday and they were out of a lot of dishes. Pretty much everything I was looking forward to eating. Toward you he end of the meal I over heard that they had another menu that they did not mention to us when we arrived. Not that I think about it, 2 was too high.

We had a 3 pm reservation and they close at 4. Unfortunately, half of the items we asked for were either sold out or otherwise unavailable. It was frustrating to have such a poor selection. We usually come earlier and have never had such an experience before. I won’t come here again for a late lunch.

This place gets great reviews but it didn't work well for us. The place is packed and you sit right on top of your neighbor. None of our servers spoke English which made it hard to ask questions. Apparently they bring trays of food around and you choose what you want. Unfortunately you have to choose from what they bring you instead of you being able to order what you want. We went long periods without food and were unable to understand the tray attendants when they tried to explain what the various dishes were. We had to ask the hostess to get our check for us - to this day I'm unsure if we actually had a server or just a variety of attendants circulating thru the dining room. Food was okay but some of the items we got were cold (were supposedly hot) and nothing looked appealing - just slapped on a plate and handed to you. REALLY wanted to like this place but it was so difficult and even stressful figuring out what to do. Also to note - the attendants mark random codes and numbers on a pad on your table and that's what you pay from. There is no way to tell if that's actually what you ordered or not. Have eaten at many similar restaurants in the past and never had an issue so not sure if it was just us or it was them. Will probably try it again just to see.

Some food were cold . Early seating 1100 AM does not have all the available food in the menu . Not until 1200 pm example Fried rice and wonton soup . So we were seated at 11:30 then have to wait for 1200 so we can order the fried rice and wonton soup .

we have been going to Yank Sing for over 20 years. I cannot say enough to express the most delightful staff and the incredible tasty dishes that come out of the kitchen. We thank the family for all the joy it has brought our family on so many occasions even our doggies have enjoyed dim sum on the patio.

A few of the unforgettable is the sea bass, it melts in your mouth and it is so flavorful you'll want more. All of the shellfish, shrimp, crab, I can go on they are tasty and meaty. The string beans with dried shrimp, best ever. The walnut shrimp is so rich but such a treat. And the dumplings pop with flavor and you bite into them. the duck superb and the pork sandwiches and puffy clouds right on point.

I could go on, but if you have never been to Yank Sing, you need to go before you die. It is an experience beyond any other Dim Sum in the US!
