The menu is pretty paired down and it stings a bit to pay premium cost to eat on disposable plates and silverware due to Covid. The service was extremely lacking. We sat for 30 minutes after finishing our food waiting to order more & get more tea trying in vain to flag a waiter down. They never came back to check on us after we ordered.
LOVE the dumplings!! And the staff!!! Can’t say enough!! Seeing Shelly at this location made my day!! She is so warm and friendly!! One reason we keep coming back!!
Need to order from a very small choice menu before you sit down. Food was ok but not what I am use too. Way to expensive for ok food.
Sitting outside was pleasant - we were near plants and etched glass. Their dim sum is the best in the Bay Area, though a little pricey. It was a great treat.
Lunch for 6 was over $300. I thought meal was over priced.
Yank Sing has always been great. Yank Sing during Covid is ok. I would’ve preferred to not have had to eat food off of paper plates, utensils and drink water out of a paper cup. One has to order their food beforehand with the hostess before you get to sit down. I think I’ll wait to go back when ever this pandemic is over
Now that they’ve reopened, the prices have increased so much that it’s not worth it to eat there anymore. Furthermore the menu is very limited. They should have been up front about the limited menu items. If I knew, I wouldn’t have made a reservation.
There's nothing special about Yank Sing. I've been to plenty of dim sum places and I didn't find the food much better than what I can get at bakeries for a fraction of the price. In the midst of COVID there was no cart service, so the fun was out. I've been to places with cart service in the Richmond and in Oakland with better food at a lower price, so the that doesn't even make up for the price. The one big plus, and the main reason I chose Yank Sing, is the outdoor dining. They have a pretty nice set up for that. Still, I'm not sure it was worth 3 times as much as I would have spent on the lower end.
Delicious dim sum. Totally hit the spot highly recommend tons of room for outdoor dining a rarity in SF right now
As always the food was great but we missed all the different options going by on the carts. Paper trays in lieu of plates was disappointing.
We love Yank Sing and we will be back.
Great food, good service, waited a little too long for the bill, but that was at the end of the meal and everyone there was doing everything possible to keep things sanitized.
Great food as always. Miss the dim sum carts, but ordering off the menu was fine. Limited menu offerings, but they had all our favorites. COVID adherence seemed very high. Plate, napkin, chopsticks, fork, wipes were provided in a sealed plastic wrap.
miss the one at Ricon Center...food still good but ambiance is lacking
They are doing a great job with patio dining. Super efficient good service, pretty patio well spaced, and the food is excellent.
Pretty efficient set up. Single use dishes and utensils, outdoor dining, and contactless service. Food was great. First soup dumplings since Coronavirus. Would definitely come back.
Def wayyyyyy over priced for what it is. First time there but will not go back. But the service was great though. Very accommodating
Food was ok but insanely expensive. Prices have gone up significantly even since the last time when prices were high.
Great food. Menu is more limited now. Very good outdoor option. Very conscientious about keeping customers safe.
I was wondering how they would handle the covid crisis and they shined. Reservations were easy. When you arrive you place an order with the host and are seated immediately. Each dish is brought out in cartons or steamers and plastic is wrapped around all instruments. They were able to be very strict with cleanliness while not affecting the quality of the food which still remains superior. A wonderful lunch and looking forward to the next one
Food was too expensive. Desserts were $14.40 for one dish. They did not clearly explain on the website the ordering process. Very disappointed in their lack of communication. I usually love it, but not this time.
Disappointed that you cannot use the carts at this time.
Yank Sing figured out how to safely continue serving their outstanding dim sum, despite smoke-filled air and Covid. Ambience and presentation took some hits, but the food continues to be great and the service was pleasant and attentive.
Way to go Yank Sing! We will return soon.
Kudos on adapting to the pandemic and delivering quality food and service.
As always, Yank Sing shines - despite the COVID-19 restrictions. This is the safest that I have felt dining out. Yank Sing has spent the time, effort, and money to conceive of a limited touch dining experience while keeping food quality top notch. Limited menu but most of the favorites. Including my favorite - Shanghai Dumplings (altho not as tasty using plastic spoons). Hope they can consider putting more on the menu, such as chicken in lettuce cups and Peking Duck. Look forward to more Sunday brunches.
We had a hankering for Dum Sum and it was worth the drive to Yang Sing at Stevenson street. While everything has to be COVID safe practices they were able to adhere to their normal high level of service and food etc!! It gave us comfort to know we could get excellent DimSum during this time!
The food and service at Yank Sing is simply awesome. Even with a limited menu during the pandemic, everything is served perfectly. The custard pies are a must, but this time we branched out with soup and scallop balls as something new, both excellent. The staff could not be more solicitous or helpful. Highly recommended!
One of the few Dim Sum places with an option to dine (outdoors). Food was great. Service was good. When you think of Dim Sum this is the place. Save room for the custard tarts and sesame balls. A bit pricey, but worth every penny
Exceptionally fresh, hot, well balanced flavors. Not too salty, like dim sum can sometimes be. Service was great and they went the extra mile for C19 safety. Well separated tables, ventilated with overhead heaters if you need them. Alcohol wipes, disposable plates, utensils, and cups. The only downside was cost, about $80 for two. But worth it.
This place is a SF classic. Although not the main location, It is very convenient to downtown. Usually this place is busy with lunch time for office workers, and with tourists. Now during COVID-19 period, it is less busy, but the outdoor patio allows for sit-down lunch. New COVID rules are in effect: disposable plates and utensils, order from menu only (no dim sum carts coming around... so you need to figure out what you want in advance). The good news is that the food is still as good and consistent as ever; and service is friendly and prompt.
Easy seating and ordering with the hostess. The dumplings and green beans were delicious. The chicken satay was very fatty but we told the waiter and he took it off our bill. Food was served in to-go containers, paper plates and utensils were individually wrapped, as was the pen to sign for the bill. Good food, good service, and very clean.
Yank Sing has done a terrific job adjusting to safe pandemic operation. Staff is cheerful and charming in advising guests how things work. Food was as wonderful as before, and bill was - as it was pre-pandemic - a bit of a surprise (how did we spend that much?). Still, we look forward to returning soon.
Excellent great food and great service would highly recommend
Excellent service and food!
We love Yank Sing and always have in the multiple sites where it has been located throughout the City of San Francisco. For years we have gone to the Stevenson site and while it was closed due to our SF mandates, we got take-out at the Rincon Annex location. The food is outstanding. Delicious, always fresh, hot and quickly delivered. We now eat on paper plates, but that is OK due to COVID-19. The plates we get are nicely crafted paper plates and high-quality disposable chop-sticks are used. The wait-staff always are friendly and are quite helpful. No one lingers at the table to chat due to social-distancing regulations and they are very careful about social distancing with quick food delivery and removal. Yet, they keep an eye on you from afar to be sure that you have all you need. It is a perfect solution to the Covid-19 restaurant compliance. We still can eat out and be safe. Thank you Yank Sing!
We are devoted to Yank Sing...have been going since they opened on Battery. We also understand that Covid has changed the game!!!! The food was, as always very tasty...but menu very limited. The chicken satay was pretty greasy.
But overall our 12:15 reservation on Sunday at the Stevenson Place location was disaster. We were seated quickly. Orders for food are taken by hostess before being seated. Drinks came within 15 minutes. Food took over 40 minutes to arrive. We added custard tarts to our order. "No problem", but our bill came and no tarts. We waited about 20 minutes, eventually got them but we were there two hours. We took tarts home because we did not want to take table up any longer. Their website asks for you not to stay more than 90 minutes. Since it took close to 90 minutes to get food ...kind of a joke. The problem was with the kitchen, and not being staffed appropriately. The servers and one or two bussers were running. The two hosts were haggard and, as usual, there was a line of people.
So, while I want to support our Bay Area restaurants I think we will save Yank Sing for post Covid.
Yank Sing has created a great outdoor space & are serving the same delicious dim sum under difficult circumstances with the pandemic. Kudos to them!
Great for dim sum considering all other places don’t have an out door option. The menu is basic and simple, offsetting staples like sui mai, har gow ang steamed char sui bao. The service was great and spacing between tables was definitely 6 ft. Also, they have heat lamps which was great for the chilly mornings.
Very slow service. All with disposable plastic post Covid. It is what it is. I understand but it still does not make it worth it.
Wow. I've been eating here sporadically for a long time (15+ years), and the food has always been excellent. While I was very happy with the cleaning procedures, this time, the food was glutinous and cold (but that could be because they delivered 5 items at once and it was chilly outside). But I will not be going back to spend $200+ on lunch for my family (on paper plates where the dumplings stick!) until we can get the better, normal(ish) experience. I was disappointed.
