Did a great job with Covid safety precautions
Our favorite dim sum restaurant in the city. Food is amazing. But eating outside in the cold shade is challenging! Can’t wait til they open up inside again. We’ll be back!
Always amazing food. A treat and a pleasure everytime!
It was fun eating in the courtyard and having dim sum brought to our table. Very casual however with paper plates and paper cups.
Me and my wife's family have dining here for years. The food is incredible!
The pandemic is so challenging for restaurants Yang Sing is doing a good job of providing pleasant outdoor seating.
Whole we missed the the full experience of the usual Yank Sing visit, they made this visit just as memorable and as always, the food was AMAZING! Thank you Yank Sing!
Had lovely time. Wish there were more items on the menu (but understand we are in Covid Times).
Hands down Yank Sing is the best place for dim sum. The green beans are one of my favorite dishes. Tables have ample distance between each other, making for a safe and comfortable environment. They've created a nice environment in the courtyard with many tables separated from public spaces with a screen. The service was excellent and staff expressed appreciation for the business. We'll be back.
We have always loved Yank Sing and our not-so-great experience was probably due to COVID-19 restrictions. There was no bar service (no bloody Mary’s), no duck, the food was not quite warm enough and we were charged for a dish that we had sent back. Because everything is done online I didn’t get my receipt until I got back home when I noticed the extra charge. This will not, however, keep us from revisiting Yank Sing once they can reopen indoors.
The food was served hot and the service was even quicker than pre-COVID. Staff was flexible in moving my party to a preferred location outside. We brought a first-time guest to Yank Sing and he became an instant fan.
I had taken a friend there for dim sum lunch to celebrate her birthday; since it was outdoor dining we ate in the courtyard. She said she really liked the food and so did I. I had been there some years ago and, of course, ate inside the restaurant. Hopefully, in the near future, I’ll be able to enjoy lunch with friends inside the restaurant again.
Best dim sum in San Francisco, but too cold to eat outdoors. Menu is limited.
Dim Sum in the age of Covid is not the same experience. That said, Yank Sing did a great job with a slightly limited menu and outdoor seating. There were still plenty of vegetarian options on the menu. The service was stellar, the food as good as usual, and the experience was acceptable. While we would prefer to be inside and have the carts buzzing around us and the low roar of the many, many guests, that's just not possible. Yank Sing is doing their absolute best to stay afloat including validating parking! We did our part this weekend to contribute. Please visit Yank Sing.
The outside dinning at Yank Sing, set up to adhere to COvid regulations, is very austere. There are no patio heaters, no charming outdoor lighting, no wind barriers to break the cold wind which is always extra chilly near the Embarcadero, no table clothes, no proper plates. In other words, Yank Sing didn't even try to make it even mildly pleasant. Some of the Dim sum was even served in a to-go container as was the soup and tea. So after eating outside for few minutes, all the while the food was getting colder and colder, and the paper plates blowing off the table, we just decided to put it all in a bag and finish at home. Overall, there is no point whatsoever to eat outside at Yank Sing, just take it to-go. My whole family loves going to Yank Sing, it's a special treat and I usually don't mind paying the "special" price. But seriously, for $142.00 for Dim Sum for two people, Yank Sing could have least made a little effort in making the dining experience more comfortable.
While it was not the same experience as pre covid dining, the food was still tasty. It was served in to go containers with plastic cups. The menu was abbreviated. We still enjoyed our experience.
The dumplings were a little hard. Everything else was excellent!
super strange experience to do dim sum during COVID! but they have done a great job adapting. the food is just as good as ever and service is still fast!
The COVID-19 version of Yank Sing @ Rincon Center is not the same as before but still a great safe and tasty experience. The hostess station is located outside the entrance to the Rincon Center lobby and you check in and pre-order your dishes. The menu is slimmed down from before but still a large selection of the usual dim sum menu. The tables inside the Rincon lobby are widely separated so we felt safe and distanced from other diners and all of the wait staff were wearing masks and observing safe dining protocols. Everyone was helpful and trying their best to make the experience a great one. I strongly encourage Yank Sing fans to come for a visit! Let’s support these SF classical restaurants!
Sub par for the price you pay. Better off going to the local restaurants for Dim Sum. Overprice Dim Sum
Due to Covid instituted changes, food was delivered from a checkbox menu and dim sum is not the same this way. It was not as fresh or the ambiance was not there.
Cold dumplings, cold tea
Cooooollldddddd. Outdoor seating is truly outdoors and no heat lamps, etc.
Covid-19 Outdoor Dinning:
Continued excellent experience even if there aren’t trolleys going around with dim sum. We preordered our selections before we sat down. We feasted even though everything was in Togo containers and enjoyed the experience. We felt safe.
Dimsums always good, but little pricey with plastic utensils.
The food was cold but it was still good. Because of COVID, dining was outside and it was a cold day. The restaurant should contemplate putting up those portable commercial heating lamps. Also the skeletal crew had to carry our entire order on a tray. It would have been easier to travel the distance while keeping the food warm using their carts with wheels. There was certainly ample spaces between the tables to do this. Otherwise, service was great.
I expected the carts and liveliness but with COVID plastic plates, orders on list, quiet seating in atrium. Staff was very pleasant, food delicious.
Missing dim sum, we made a reservation for Yang Sank days in advance, stood in a slow long line for check-in which we had no issue. While it was finally our turn, the host first did not check our reservation (I had to remind her), and then she informed us that we need to order before sitting down. Didn’t want to hold up the line, we asked if we can start with a few dishes (6-8) and add more later, the “dim sum” way. She said yes but forced us to order more before giving us a table (“for four people this is not enough and we will give your table away”, she said).
Being there countless times, that was a surprise to us. We looked at each other and just ordered anything that came to mind in a rush. That really destroyed the experience.
While the food was still good, and once sat down the service was good too (we felt bad for the serving crew— they worked so hard but the system was not set up to help them), we will probably go somewhere else for now.
Atrium dining in plastic utensils. Full price for very small portions. Not the most attentive service. Won’t be back.
This was for a long overdue birthday celebration. Although small because of the 2020 circumstances, it was wonderful as always.
It was outdoor seating, which was nice. The food came in plastic containers. They gave us plastic utensils in plastic bags with condiments and a napkin. The food was very expensive, served without honey walnut prawn sweet mayonnaise, the soup was bland, and they forgot our additional order and we had to wait a long time for it. I can’t wait for regular indoor service to come back. I’m sure all this was due to COVID restrictions. But, the cost was super high for what we got.
Wish they had full menu
Yank sing is our favorite dim sum and they are doing their best to deal with covid. They are still working out the kinks but will soon be up to their 5 star standards.
Having been a fairly regular customer, I was disappointed by the limited menu, plastic forks and spoons, paper plates and cups, and higher prices, including a 5% "service charge." I probably won't come back until revert to your regular restaurant service.
a totally different dining experience due to pandemic rules, but food is still on point. Go support this SF dim sum icon.
the staff and the food was great, we missed the cart service
Felt very safe with distancing, ate outside, staff wore masks, disposable plates and utensils and great food. Limited menu is understandable, however missed a few of my dim sum favorites
The food here is always wonderful and they did a great job following COVID safety protocols, making our meal very enjoyable.
Food was excellent. Today was their first day open after the COVID closures. They were scrambling a bit but so kind and trying to make everything as smooth as possible. Delicious. Will come back for sure!
They are doing a good job dealing with the COVID thing, but it's hard to replicate the experience you have inside. They deserve support to help get through this! The food was great as usual! One thing I did notice while going to the restroom was that the building owners have finished remodeling the atrium. Boy did they ruin it! the rain fountain is gone. looks like an industrial warehouse all concrete and spray foam fire insulation. Whoever is responsible has managed to create one of the ugliest public indoor spaces in the City. Good Job! In the future most definitely will NOT be dining in the atrium, it suck aesthetically !
Varied and well-crafted dim sum. Service poor. Prices high
