Yamato Sushi and Teppan Yaki at the El San Juan Resort is over-priced for the portion and quality of sushi. Being in a seaside resort, one would expect fresh, prime grade seafood. This was not the case.

we were excited to try this restaurant since our family loves japanese and benihana. We sat at a habatchi table and while the chef was nice and somewhat entertaining the food was not at all good. The show was short , the rice was burnt and everything had way too much salt. it cannot even touch benihana or stand on its own as having good food. the woman who seated us was kind and professional but the waitress had a demeaneor where she seemed annoyed and kept walking away mid sentence when we were speaking to her. she seemed preoccupied with a bigger party and couldnt handle more than one table. it was a bizarre dining experience and not good food. i would nlt recommend to anyone or return.

I was dining alone and the place was relatively empty even though the hotel was full of conferences. The bar was small and there was no server/bartender present my entire stay . I only had a few rolls but the sushi rice was overly sweet. There were no gluten free options, including gluten free soy being unavailable. The spicy tuna roll had a very sweet, not spicy mayonnaise. There was a few people at hibachi, which lacked ambiance or festive cooks. Maybe it was just low season but I was not impressed.

It was a quiet evening. We had our own table. Tried the sushi and thought it was very good. Salad was good and soup was good. We had chicken and filet. Filet was extremely tender. Veggies were weak and mostly onion and cabbage. Could have been more creative. Show was ok nothing special but I prefer better food which this was compared to most teppanyaki. It's definitely worth a try. Drinks ok but ice melted quickly so watered. Tell them to put extra ice.

We had a 7:30 reservation for over one week and got there right on time. The maitre d told us it would be a 30 to 45 minute wait for a hibachi table. We were disappointed but hungry so we took a regular table in the back. It felt like a diner with little ambiance. We ordered appetizers and main dishes with waitresses who did not understand English well and seemed rushed although it was not busy where we were seated in the back. The soup came out, then the main dishes about 5 minutes later along with the other appetizer we had ordered. The sushi was average to poor. The hibachi dinner was a smaller portion than that you usually get at the hibachi table. We were done and out of there in about 30 minutes. It was certainly a disappointing dinner and I wouldn't go back.

Was there with a few friends and the place was absolutely dead. We got there later in the evening and we were the only ones in there for at least an hour or two.

Besides that the service was great as well as the food. Gave good portions and the cook was extremely friendly and entertaining.

Overpriced sushi.....probably the worst I have had in years and $19/special roll....nothing special about it. Hibachi was fine but still very expensive. Much better restaurants in the area.

I'm a foodie... and this is the best hibachi I ever had! It wasn't too salty like it normally is... the chef was AMAZING and so entertaining. He was truly a talent and the best I've seen yet.

The onion soup was delicious, and the best was definitely the shrimp and the FILET. Melt in your mouth delicious. The fried rice was also spot on.

Thank you so much for a wonderful experience! Our entire party was so impressed and you also made our bachelorette feel very special by letting her go around and cook with you!

I ordered sushi and was not impressed. The rolls tasted good but there was nothing special to them and size was a bit small compared to other places. The teppanyaki looked nice and people were having fun. I would go back to try teppanyaki but not for sushi.

I was staying at the hotel and heard that this restaurant was AMAZING!!! They lied, the food was not horrible but the service was not there saw my wait staff twice thru the dinner. One was to take the order and the second was to drop off the bill..... Drinks empty the whole dinner.
