Yamashiro's history as a 100-year old home-turned-restaurant has offered a picturesque backdrop for weddings, special events, and filmings/photoshoots for decades.View Private Dining Details
Katya was amazing, food was great. Worth what we paid for. Bar id's generous. Sliders are delicious. Will definitely come back for the boat.
Everything was delicious! I recommend the spicy tuna roll and the black cod.
Great view, amazing service, good food
Great environment and service, but the food was not what it is made up to be. I give the food 6/10
I am so happy that this historic Resturant was not torn down and replaced with something else. The view was phenomenal & the service was exceptional.
We have gone to Yamashiros for several of our wedding anniversaries. They always give us a table with a great view and recognize our special event. In addition to the great good and service these small touches keep us coming back
Average food quality. You go there for the LA night scene so don't expect quality food. Ordered sashimi but we have to specially request for ginger. (hmm??)
Ordered a dessert with ginger ice-cream but we were only served with a vanilla ice-cream instead. The waitress did not even inform us that they ran out of ginger ice-cream (???). Only when we made additional queries and then she revealed the vanilla ice-cream. Well, we felt kind of being 'cheated' in a high end restaurant.. Very disappointed instead.. This should be my first and my last visit.
I've dined here for Valentine's Day before, but this year it was terrible. For $125 set price, you would expect some kind of steak choice, but nothing. I had a carrot based appetizer, salad, a few shrimps, an ahi tuna entree, and a red velvet dessert. That is not a value of $125. Previous years were better, and included a delicious and valued steak choice. Somebody in management made a terrible decision this time. And waiting at the valet was an unclassy experience, hearing everyone from customers to actual staff cursing aloud about the slow situation. Highly vulgar environment full of anxiety. Some cars took 2 hours to come back to their owners. Yes, 2 hours. And mine was dreadfully close to that. What happened, Yamashiro? You're better than this. Still, the in-house staff is friendly and efficient, no complaints there. Clearly, they have all the right people working inside, but all the wrong brains making decisions above.
Waited hour and half for valet to bring my car. I don’t believe in leaving reviews like I’m some critique, but this genuinely sucked. My girlfriend missed work the next day because we left so late.
I won’t leave a yelp review to tarnish your business, but Jesus Christ this sucked. Figure that stuff out, don’t make a logistical nightmare just for revenue. Short term decisions have ruined any future opportunity for me and many others.
Don’t go there for valentines!!!!!! The portion sizes are ridiculously small, preset menu, overpriced, and food was horrible. The service was bad. We waited forever for our food and car. They were severely understaffed, both in the restaurant and the valet. Plus, no one mentioned to us about the preset $125 per person menu before we actually got there.... and we left hungry!
We went for the special Valentine's Day dinner. Had a great time, because we love each other and aren't snobs, but like, you should know -- for $125/person pre-fix, the sushi was supermarket-grade and the service was frankly embarrassing. We ordered a bottle of a unfiltered, nigori sake, they brought us a different bottle of a different kind of sake, and when we asked about it, they said they were out of the one we'd ordered, then brought us a new bottle of a different type of nigori -- when the bill came they charged us for the bottle we didn't order, which was more expensive than the bottle we did order. It was just very slapdash and unprofessional for a $350 dollar dinner. The food was crap and we both felt sick afterwards. Would not recommend.
Food is great for Asian food lovers, miss the old oyster shooters etc. this is a japanese place not french. The service was great. Only bad thing was the Valet, horrible waited 2 hours, got my valet fee back but not worth it. Next time I either park myself or not go at all. The restaurant managers helped to get my car and that was the only reason I got it.
It was absolutely terrific!! Jordan was kind to us all night and brought us some amazing Valentine’s Day dishes.
Nobody from Open Table to the lady at Yamashiro that called to get my cc info explained how it was a valentine menu that you could not divert from. My date and I hated everything offered that night. I came for the tempura and babyback ribs, not this boozgy small plates at $125 a person. Waiter told me it was several other tables going thru the same thing. Now we are stuck and not happy. My night sucked!!! Bring the old Yamashiro back!!!!
Food was ok. Overpriced. Probably will not come back.
this place was like super sick. went for a v day date. homeboy got it.
The sushi was good but everything else was burned! Shrimp was overcooked and the Ahi Tuna with sesami seeds was super dry. The waiter did apologize but they didn't attempt to offer us a new dish or to remake it. Considering the $280 i spent that night, the dinner was definitely was not worth it.
If it wasn't for the environment, I would rate my experience 1 star.
We were straight up lied to for Valentine's Day. They called me a few weeks prior and the girl said "it's going to be $125 for Omakase". I had a feeling it would be too good to be true. We showed up and a pre-set menu costing $125 per person. We started with a shot of soup (literally thicksoup in a shot glass), three sad pieces of deep fried shrimp, and a spinach salad heavily drenched in dressing. For the main course we were served 2 rolls of 4 pieces each and 4 pieces of sashimi. For dessert, I had a chocolate flan and my girlfriend chocolate cake (??). Not even sure what it was. It was the only thing that was somewhat tasty. The whole meal might have cost the restaurant $15-20? The sushi rolls tasted like the same ones you would buy at Pavilions or Ralph's. It was sad. And expensive. With a few cocktails, I literally paid $400 for a crappy meal and a nice view.
Food and service both fantastic. Our server made great conversation, very friendly and helped make the night memorable. Highly recommend!
Great food combined with amazing views. Service was excellent, server was attentive but we did not feel rushed. Sushi quality was good - fresh. Good amount of options on the menu, perhaps a few more vegetarian options would be nice as well.
