Metro Red Line to Hollywood & Highland. Walk west down Hollywood Blvd turn right on Orange and cross at the light on Franklin. Once you cross at the light go left and turn right at sycamore going up the hill. It is a very steep hill so walking in dress shoes or in the dark are not recommended. We suggest calling a cab at the bottom of the hill.

Yamashiro Ratings and Reviews
We arrived and enjoyed the view up to the restaurant and our excitement grew in anticipation of the dining experience. Upon arriving we couldn't believe the views and then found a place to sit and take them all in before the restaurant opened for brunch.
Once in the restaurant we were sadly disappointed to find out that the buffet brunch no longer existed and they changed the brunch menu and now had a set menu that consisted of limited options. We ordered a typical breakfast that we could had ordered at our usual breakfast spot close to home. It was tasty however but still a typical breakfast!
This was our first visit and the dinner menu may be totally different but I don't believe we will be returning.
Great view and fun place , food was horrible , they were extremely busy as most of the Reataurant was rented out For a wedding . So the service was poor . It was very expensive for poor food . We did have a great time as we were with good people and it’s a lovely looking unique place with amazing views . But do not go here for the food . Be prepared to be disappointed and don’t expect much . You will have a good time . Parking was a DISASTER , valet was struggling
Originally was supposed to have reservations at La Prime to celebrate my bday, my boyfriend and I but it was booked. Thank God open table recommended me Yamishiro Restaurant. Our first time here. Everything about it was exceptional. Alex our waiter was the best! We ordered dinner for 2 which consisted of Lobster, Ribeye Steak, Shrimp, Potatoes of variety, Mushrooms, Squash and Artichokes. So tasty! A bit pricy but well worth it! View was amazing!! We will be coming back again. Thank you Yamishiro Restaurant for a night to remember.
Came here for my husbands birthday and you had to pull teeth just for a Coke.
Management tried to make it better but the Malibu employees were just too stuck up while at work to fix anything . Will let me friends and family know not to dine here just to stop by for the views ....
Ive been to this place a few times. Friends get together and special occassions. First time to celebrate a birthday this weekend. Good food as usual, worth the price. Only one difference when celebrating Bday with other restaurants we’ve been to is that there’s no complimentary desert or anything for celebrating the birthday though we were ask as we sat on the table what’s the occassion.
By far the best sushi I’ve ever had. The service was outstanding and the view of the city cannot be beat (imagine Griffith observatory with sushi).
I chose this restaurant for the first dinner with my boyfriend on our vacation and we were not disappointed. He is a young cook and I put a note about his passion for food in our reservation. The chef was kind enough to stop by the table and he even gave us a quick tour of the kitchens.
OH! And there was tableside magic!! It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience and I look forward to dining again in the future.
This was a bucket list item for a great friend of mine in her 70's. The disappointment was almost in the beginning when she realized the grounds aren't as lush or as maintained as she viewed on pictures. They are scheduled to open at 11am on Sunday's for brunch, the manager didn't open the door until 11:04, come on guys! It made it worse when he wasn't happy to see customers & seemed as if he'd just woke up! The website posts a wonderful brunch menu w/options like prime rib & a buffet w/lots of breakfast options, we went in hungry & saved our appetites for the occasion. We were greeted w/a brunch menu w/little options & no prime rib & definitely no buffet or carving station. Jordan, our eager & pleasant server let us know they stopped the buffet brunch menu months ago & the website is catching up, really Yamashiro! ? To make matters worse, I had to piece-meal my brunch to create a worthwhile breakfast! About $35 worth for bacon & eggs! To say it was a disappointment would be an understatement! I felt horrible for my friend, she saves every penny for these outings & looks forward to them like a child to Disneyland. You've got to do better...I definitely will share my poor experience w/everyone!
We celebrated our son's 23rd birthday and although we had an hour drive to get there, it was worth it! Yamashiro's location and history make it a great restaurant to spend a special evening with special people while connecting to the history of Hollywood. We all agreed that this was a fun and different dining experience. We also enjoyed the entre selections and the sushi.
Overpriced - over $100/head for weak drinks, limited menu, prices way too high for entrees as served. Best value is sushi/sashimi, which are fresh and nicely presented. The view has always been the attraction at Yamashiro, but that won't be enough to get us back. I'd rather pick up take-out sushi, a bottle of wine, and park on a Mulholland overlook for a night-time picnic. Service was fine.
This was our first time dinning in Yamashiro, however, I was not impressed at all. First, most of our dishes were not as good as we expected. They were over priced. Second, the service was not that great neither. Table was not bused even when the desserts were presented. Third, the ventilation was not working well, we could smell the smoke from other tables' dishes. Overall, I didn't get a feeling that I was dinning in a fine dinning restaurant. There was only one thing that was worth to mention is the city light view.
My wife and I went to Yamashiro for our wedding day dinner. They didn't have real champagne, just a sparkling wine. The salad was good and we shared a 16 oz ribeye with a nice assortment of vegetables for $70. The steak was a little grisly, but pretty good for the most part. We had green tea ice cream and a chocolate 'souffle' which was just a lava cake with vanilla ice cream. The service was OK, but he catered mainly to the larger tables around us. The best part was the view of LA and taking pictures.
