The restaurant was beautiful, and the customer service was excellent! Thank you for the complimary carrot cake for our anniversary!
It was the best restaurant I have ever been to in my life
Able to accommodate on short notice. Staff was exceptionally helpful. My business is hosting 2 private events there next year, and they were able to call in the Event coordinator on short notice to walk the space and provide answers to a few remaining items. In all, an exceptional meal, experience and the view is one-of-a-kind!
Awesome view, great quality, wonderful service, romantic place, cozy place
Great food and decor! A must experience if in Hollywood!!
Terrible experience! The wait staff was rude and we waited 15 mins before anyone provided us with water or menus. The food was atrocious, especially the overpriced cod. I marked the dinner as a special occasion and no one acknowledged that during the dinner. Avoid dining here at all costs.
My daughter and I came for brunch and what a treat! The food was delicious. Plenty of options and the desserts were amazing not to mention my mirmosa glass was always full. We had a wonderful time and look forward to our next visit even if we do live in Northern California
Our party consisted of 3 adults. The view overlooking Hollywood was spectacular. The drinks were good but not great and their house versions of a Manhattan and an Old Fashioned were $16 each. The food ranged from poor to above average in flavor. The presentation of the appetizers and main courses was good, but again not great. The most expensive main course we ordered was their short ribs and the serving size was so small that I left the restaurant still hungry. The other two main courses were more reasonably sized and both diners were satisfied with the amount of food. For me, the bottom line is that I expect higher quality food, flavor and presentation for the prices charged.
The Valet was rude. Not welcoming at all. Only interested in his own agenda. Told me the Restaurant was closed. Made my party wait in the car and move to a dark part of the parking lot while I went inside to check in to my reservation and tell the Host that I had arrived. Then made them walk far to the front door. Overcharged them for Valet parking service that they didn't get. We spent $700 on food and drinks for a party of 6.
I gave them the heads up about my girlfriend’s birthday and they brought her little free piece of cake without me having to remind them.
Fantastic view, especially great to bring family, friends from out of town
Menu could be better/more interesting... but still good :)
The view is as breathtaking as the food. Excellent service, thanks Alex you were wonderful. We celebrated my birthday and it was perfect. Try the calamari it is the best I have ever had. Wine was amazing. So much fun and such great service! Thank you.
What a wonderful place to celebrate our wedding anniversary! The hostess who greeted us said “Happy Anniversary” to us when we arrived! The little things truly mean a lot! They placed us along the glass wall overlooking the LA landscape....what a stunning view to enjoy our memorable night out! The food and service were excellent. We actually took a couple suggestions from our server on his favorite choices on the menu. His selections were spot on.... Asian Salmon and Asian BBQ ribs were so flavorful! What a delightful meal! We spent 3 hours enjoying our appetizers through our dessert, never once feeling rushed during our dining experience. It had been over 20 years since we last visited Yamaahiro. It was wonderful to again visit this iconic location to celebrate our wedding anniversary! choices on the menu. His selections were spot on.... Asian Salmon and Asian BBQ ribs were so flavorful! Thank you Yamashiro staff for the splendid and memorable evening!
My husband and I came for dinner for our anniversary. We were greeted at the reception with a cheerful happy anniversary which was very nice. We asked for a nice romantic table and got a small corner table with a view. it was nice and quiet and we were able to converse with no problem. By the time our dessert arrived a big group came in, was very noisy and ruined the nice ambience so I mentioned it to our food server and she kindly moved us to the garden. I've never been to Yamashiro before so I didn't know they have such beautiful garden. We ate our dessert quietly in the beautiful garden and wished we'd gotten a table in the garden to begin with. Beautiful setting - and quiet. The place is amazing, the food is fantastic, the service is outstanding, the view, the garden, the place is all beautiful. I must say it's a bit pricy even for LA. I also recommend you add lunch. I was considering bringing a group of women for lunch, but learned there's no lunch service. Thank you for such a lovely place and meal.
Came there for my birthday and had an amazing time. Server was great, food was very delicious, and that view!
Food was horribly overpriced. Valet was mandatory $10. Very small menu with limited vegetarian options. Disappointing.
Yamashiro is my favorite RESTAURANT. We loved the food and ambience. My first time guest was very impressed. The view of the city is always amazing. He started that he will definitely return to Yamashiro again. We will also reccomend to friends
45min to get 2 Sushi Rolls... Not a busy night at all
I brought my boyfriend here for his 50th birthday and it was a beautiful spot. The sushi itself was average and the server could have checked in on us more but overall a wonderful experience.
I had an anniversary dinner with my wife here at Yamashiro and it was amazing. Good quality food, friendly servers, and as always, awesome night views.
Celebrated our anniversary and they brought us a delicious cake with candles in it awesome experience
The hostesses are incredibles. Our waitress was ok. Overall a great experience. The best part is how accomodating he kitchen is. I love that (IF YOU PAY) at least you have the choice to modify somehow the dishes. It's a HUGE plus
We were seated just under another table that was occupied, even though there were much better tables available. We felt too close to the upper table...almost in their conversation. It was very uncomfortable for both of the couples and we both complained about it. Eventually we moved to another table. I will request a particular table next time if we ever return here.
The food was excellent, the ambiance very nice and the view outstanding with very good service. The reason for the low rating is the menu selection was very limited and the price extremely high.
If you’re looking for exceptional food and a fantastic view, this is your food!
While the views are extroidinary - the value is just not there. The food quality was not eeven marginally close to price. Additionally, it tastes all prepackaged.
Go for a cocktail and the view and then never go back
As always great food...sat in interior outdoor area. It was really nice.
Good service in serene location. Not sure if sushi was same preparation as evening.
Came in here to celebrate a friend’s birthday. We all really liked the atmosphere but the menu is lacking to call it a true Japanese restaurant. With that being said, I think all the rolls we ordered were excellent. Here are what we ordered for 4 people:
1/ Pork Shank Lollipop
2/ Shrimp Dumplings
3/ Reclining Buddha roll
4/ Ninja Roll
5/ Red Samurai roll
6/ Elie roll
7/ Philadelphia roll
8/ Spicy Tuna Soy-Roasted Shisito roll
9/ Salmon Tataki
Très cher mais superbe
Whether you are sitting in the garden, or with a view of the Hollywood Hills, you are going to love the look of your plate. I came back for a second time in the same week during my stay in LA.
The fresh fish: the best. The Waygu Beef Nigiri, to die for. Great and reasonably priced Japanese Whiskey.
The ambiance is really wonderful. The garden inside is peaceful, and great for a date.
The service was very good, but not at the highest levels, which seems reasonable given the price point and context (LA, Hills) things are more expensive. But in order to truly reach the highest level of class, they could improve the service a bit.
Also, please, fix the squeaking door to the kitchen in the back left of the garden. We got seated by it once. A person passes through each minute, rightfully so, for work. But the door slowly eeks shut and open each time, and damn that gets frustrating on a nice date.
Will go back.
I love Yamashiro! It had been a while since I was there, and a friend from Chicago was visiting LA for the first time. Yamashiro gave us a great table with a perfect view. The food was delicious, especially the Reclining Buddha sushi, and the strawberry donut dessert is wonderful.
AMAZING EXPERIENCE! Hands down best view in the city with an incredible menu!
great service beautiful views definitely a must for anyone visiting LA
My husband is in town on business and I came down for a few days to visit and someone that used to live in LA years ago had recommended that we go here. I read the history on the website and was so impressed by the story associated with the establishment that we made reservations for a Friday night. The atmosphere is beautiful and beyond authentic. It is really dark in the restaurant and for the most part pretty quiet which is not bad. The food and service on the other hand were just mediocre at best and we didn't feel like it was worth the visit. We ordered the calamari for an appetizer and it was not good. Just marginal batter fried and the sauce was bland. We ordered two sushi rolls and we eat a lot of sushi. It just didn't make a big impression. It was edible but it wasn't over the top. We did walk down the stairs to the gardens after and saw the night time view of the valley which is spectacular. Saw the gold buddha and the iconic pagoda. That was enough.
From the great views to the delicious food it was a great experience.
Went for a first date and it was a hit with my date.
Overall a wonderful night out! Amazing views and spectacular food.
The food was amazing. The lava stone steak was to die for.
Their sushi quality sucks! It equals to Sushistop, so cheap and nasty. Dont waste your money here!
Atmosphere was pleasant and fun. The restaurant itself is aesthetically pleasing. The food was overall good (calamari was too battered and crunchy) but the service was boarder line terrible. Starting with the lady bartender as we were waiting to be seated (which was 30 minutes after our reservation) she was rude, stressed, looked and acted miserable. Our waiters attitude was better but lacked some professional skills.
