This place is great - creative delicious choices - sat at sushi bar and got great recommendations from the chefs.
La comida excelente... platillos diferentes con muy buena calidad. La atención extraordinaria.. Solamente el espacio de mesas muy apretado..
Fabulous food! Try the tuna tacos. Service was great also
Dinner for 4 at 8:30pm.
Small restaurant good, friendly service. Interesting menu.
Some creative entrees mixed with old standbys.
The waitress was fabulous! The food was beyond delicious. Plus, the atmosphere was fun and tranquil.
Great Sushi! Very fresh! Good service! Great value!
We really liked the meal and had excellent service. The fish was quite good - especially the Colorado sea bass - and the sashimi entrees were all excellent. There were several of us and we had a few. The only thing that needs work is the sushi rice, which didn't quite have the right flavor. It tasted closer to plain white rice instead of seasoned rice. For that reason I would give the nigiri sushi 4 stars, but the sashimi 5 stars.
Delicious as always! Service was above and beyond. Special requests were accommodated. Unusual and delicious veggie rolls.
Yama is the best Sushi in Vail. Always fresh fish and the best chefs
Very overpriced. Great presentation. Food was ok.
La mesera súper linda!
We arrived at the restaurant and had a wonderful reception by Cici and Bren, who was also our waitress that night. She helped us choosing the food, telling us her favourites. Everything was great. Food had great presentation, taste even better. Orders arrived pretty fast. Sake was also Bren's call. It was very nice and not expensive. Beer was cold as it should. Fish really fresh and for a nice finish the brownie tempura was great. Had a great time and amazing food. Congrats to all staff and specially to Bren!
Their sushi is the best in vail along side Matsuhisa! Yama has such a cozy small hip ambience which we enjoy! We come to vail both summer and winter and go to Yama every visit! This week the service was better than ever which made it even more awesome!!!
It’s worth the money!!!!
Very nice restaurant
Love the music
Fresh sushi and cocktails, served creatively. Yama rarely disappoints. If you want to break away from the typical rolls and beer experience, this is a good bet.
Really good food and service, however felt a bit rushed to start with. Would definitely go back!
Very good service and food. Worth going again.
Amazing sushi!!! Great service. So good we went back two days later. A must stop while in Vail. We will be back!
The food is always outstanding. They have specialty items that we don’t get in Portland, Oregon that are very creative and WORK. Can’t say I’ve had a bad menu selection. The service is friendly, but getting a table can be a creative adventure. The restaurant is popular and TINY. I’ve read lots of complaints, but if you are a little flexible and understanding, I have found that they work hard to accommodate. I come for a week in Vail a year and have been doing so for 12 years. I will continue to schedule two dinners a week there.
Very helpful waite staff. Food was delicious. We’ll be back!! 😊
Nice place- cozy table placement- NYC close. Food was really nice. Fresh fish- all enjoyed their meals. The seaweed salad was icy cold- new experience. Would pass on the spicy salmon rolls but all the rest we had was great. Service was outstanding. Note: they serve very quickly so if you want things at your pace, order accordingly.
Very disappointing after good OT reviews. Tried 6 different dishes, all were bland except for the spicy edamame.
Excellent food. We ordered nigiri: toro, uni and several other types of tuna as well as the Summer in Vail roll and wagyu strips. So good we ordered a second round of the nigiri and beef and bought our chef his favorite drink. The same week, we did Chef’s omakase at Matsuhisa and preferred our Yama dinner hands down (Matsuhisa was very good as well but didn’t hit it out of the park like Yama in our opinion).
Great sashimi and rolls. We will be back!
One of Vail's best. In my top 3
Food was great!
Love their selection of rolls and sashimi. The sashimi in particular has several options with various sauces (e.g, yuzu), cilantro, etc.
Best sushi in Vail
We wanted to like Yama, went out of our way to book and have dinner on our stay in vail, unfortunately, this wasn’t to be... we arrived for our reservation and had to wait about 15 minutes, perfect, NO Problem at all however, on a 20 degree night in Vail their front waiting area was so small, they couldn’t accommodate us (4) and the 2-3 other families waiting at the same time while the previous guests cleared and it became VERY awkward when we had to get into arguments about the lack of space and poorly positioned coat closet (we had angry guests yelling at us because they couldn’t get to the coat closet for their jackets). We and other waiting patrons had to step back outside so exiting guests could get out...poorly planned! Ok forgetting the “traffic” outside, we have a few food allergies.....we’ve eaten sushi all over the world... by definition, it’s made to order... they had trouble accommodating the most simple requests, I mean simple, they couldn’t do one of their rolls without the sauce, they couldn’t separate our order by person, they couldn’t tell us what was in their food, INSANE! They were hand making our order (it’s a sushi bar!) and for ~$100 per person they couldn’t easily accommodate anything that wasn’t a checkbox on their low class cheap “chain”sushi restaurant “fill it in yourself” menu. Now during the tragic back and forth where we received and rejected many of our dishes, our waitress tried SO hard so, we can’t blame her. but, the TRAGIC lack of attention or consideration (mainly by the kitchen) at this overpriced, under done restaurant in vail takes it off our list for future visits. Steer clear unless you’re comfortable ordering off the fill it in yourself, no modifications accepted mediocre sushi menu. It’s a shame, it has potential but how upsetting they couldn’t be bothered to care about their guests at all.
Yama is the best sushi spot in Vail by a long shot. Quaint and friendly with excellent service and an overall awesome atmosphere, I can’t recommend it enough. Was perfect for a nice quiet dinner with my visiting parents.
Excellent food everything we ordered was amazing! We have lots of options in NYC, but this sushi was truly melt in your mouth out of this world. The staff were pleasant and we came with out 2 young kids who loved he food too! Thanks Yama we’ll see you again soon!
We’re sushi 🍣 lovers ). But when it comes to Yama they bit every other sucho Places especially in Vail Colorado. We would definitely recommend this place to our friends and family!
Bland from food to service. Nothing special and not worth the price. Service was mediocre.
Great Sushi in Vail, arguably the best. Food is excellent with lots of variety, ambiance and setting cannot be beat.
Good value and excellent service. Close quarters which made for a noisy experience when the folks at the next table were very loud. Difficult to enjoy good food when you cannot converse at your own table. Would hope that it was an infrequent occurrence.
outstanding quality sushi and japanese food. . .Brenn is an exceptional server, and we've now gotten to the point where we just ask her to order for us, and have never been disappointed in what she's chosen.
A real "find" in the Vail Restaurant scene. . .
This was a cute place. its a little overpriced but it is Vail :) I would recomend for a date night. not a large group
Delightful gem in the heart of Vail Village! Highly recommend and we plan to return.
We really enjoyed the excellent sushi! Great ambiance in smaller place.
