Chicken Katsu Don
Homemade Shiso Sorbet
Had around 7-8 chicken skewers out of the 10 skewers served in the Chef’s choice. Wasn’t here to pay $100 for that much chicken.
Staff, food, everything was Amazing !!! Chef Tatsunori cooking our Yakitori to perfection and even suggested ways to enjoy them. The shiso sorbet was super refreshing. Would no doubt return.
Great authentic Japanese food . The service and food were exceptional. Highly recommend.
The environment and service is good. The food is very nice. The cocktails are delicious.
I've been to Tori Shin several times before. The food is outstanding, and the service impeccable. This time, I was seated on the 2nd floor for the first time, and there were 2 large groups that were energetic. It was loud, and the servers kindly offered to move us downstairs after the appetizer or 1st course when a table opened up there. Regardless, we had a wonderful experience--the food and service are divine!
Being a yakitori nerd, I was disappointed to learn when we arrived that they did not have some of my preferred cuts from the menu. The menu itself is a bit difficult to navigate and the rules on what can or cannot be combined need to be easier to understand. All of this made us a bit wary, but then the food came and it was awesome! Every skewer was perfectly executed and packed with flavor. I will shut up now.
As usual, food is great, healthy, and special. But unfortunately the restaurant did not have 1/3 of what we initially ordered and the staff serving our table appeared so new that she had to check every single order and every single question from us (and made mistakes). Nonetheless we all had a great time. Really value for money.
Great experience for a first timer!
Great food and hospitality!!
Overall is good. the waiter was very charming and helpful.
We order Omakase, but they changed the rice dish which I was looking forward to. Oh, I wish I could have mini Oyako-don. instead of Soboro-don and Ochazuke.
Plus a new group of people was very loud and not present.
Really loved the food here. Excellent location, top quality staff, mouth-watering food. I will say the location is much smaller than its photos make it feel online, so the ambience was a bit less "cozy" than I was hoping for.. but that's also not uncommon with solid spots in Manhattan. Interestingly, we ended up paying less than expected by going A La Carte, so for those looking for a nice outing without breaking their bank, I think this is a solid spot!
Delightfully tasty. Outstanding selection of skewers.
This is our second time, and while first time was outstanding second time was not that great.
I tried broiled sea urchin, and it was underwhelming. Pork belly was springy. Stick with the chicken.
We were sitting on the second floor, and the food was getting to us already just warm, not hot.
We enjoyed the dinner in a very calm space even though it was outdoors. Torishin's yakitori was as popular as it was, and I was impressed by the juicy roasting of very fresh chicken and the aroma of charcoal. This is the only place where you can eat authentic Japanese yakitori in NY. Also, I will definitely come back soon.
Great food and awesome service, the staff was very respectful and kind.
I've heard a lot of hype about this restaurant and had my doubts. After all, how good can yakitori really be? Apparently, it can be amazing! From chicken knee cartilage to the liver -- all of the greatest hits we sampled were delicious and sophisticated. Subtle notes of smoke, interesting marinades, and novel textures combine to create a special dining experience from the seemingly ordinary. We sat outside but this restaurant is best experienced indoors and we will certainly be back.
Had a fantastic experience. Food was amazing, host was helpful, and the environment was great.
Keiko and team were great!
The counter was full today, so I ate an Omakase course at the main dining table.
The appetizer confit was juicy, and the steamed oyster cherry leaves were smoked, so I enjoyed the scent. The yakitori was also delicious. I will visit you again.

One of the most special eating experiences- ever !
Indoor dining is BACK!!!
Yakitori Tori Shin is fantastic; attentive service, great sake selection and helpful wait staff. Omekase was terrific all around. Highly recommend.
Everything is on point, food, service, atmosphere… What a gem and surprise.
Excellent food and service, would go again.
We went to the outdoor dining room where was very comfortable and warm with a heater.
We ate chicken hot pot and it was very delicious.
The Omakase course was very reasonable for us.
The taste of the food and the quality of the service were high.
We'll be back soon!
The waiter kept pressuring us to get more food saying we weren't getting enough and that we would be hungry and that we had to order all at once because the kitchen was closing. We didn't eat half the food that we ended up ordering and ended up paying $140 per person. I was also unable to sleep due to the amount of food that we ate.
Enjoyed the omakase by the bar! Amazingly fresh grilled meat and the specials were great too. The only comment is that the omakase menu in the restaurant is priced higher (USD100 pp) than the menu that's placed outside the restaurant (USD69) because there was an added wagyu to the menu. Would be good if they gave us options on whether to add the wagyu.
This is one of the best Yakitori Restaurant in the US and even among the Yakitori restaurants in Japan.
The chicken skewers are juicy and simply favorable. Then, the tenderness and finest grade of the grill satisfies your mouth. The broth from the Omakase soup is clean and clear it's competitive to the best fond de veau from the five-star French restaurant. Ending with the homemade Shiso sorbet is refreshing and perfect to end the meal. Definitely worth to try!
Food was delicious. Maybe because of mask, but we couldn’t hear what our server was saying most of times and had to ask to repeat, and still couldn’t get some of them.
some BBQ are over cooked. The waiter talks with low voice, hard to hear. Since the day is my Wife’s birthday, I keep it quite...
The food is not worthy.
After a long time, I had Omakase in door dining. Not only yakitori but also appetizers and oyakodon were very delicious. What impressed me was the thorough measures against corona in door dining. Partitions were firmly applied between the chefs and customers, windows were opened to take in clean air, and an air purifier was attached to the AC, so I was able to eat in door dining with great peace of mind. I will come again.
It was great, we would have liked there to be more flexibility on the menu though (you cant order special skewers a la carte which is weird... at Toriko they let you do that so we were surprised).
It was excellent!! A+ highly recommend!!
Food was outstanding
They also do a great job with COVID protocols
Overall experience is good. The chicken meatball and urchins is awesome. But the chicken liver is not as good as expected. And it will be great, if you can cut the burned and sharpen top of the bamboo stick before serve it. Thank you.
Yakitori Torishin is by far the best yakitori restaurant in New York. Great service and great food; can’t be beat.
Worth every penny. Service was great. Food was out of this world. Can’t wait to go back.
We ordered Omakase and appetizer.
What we felt honestly was that it was very elaborated, nice, and delicious. We paid $200 for two people and it was a great meal. Corona is an outdoor business, warm food is warm, cold food I enjoyed it while it was cold. I felt very hard. Highly recommended for those who want to enjoy a valuable meal. See you next week Thank you to all the staff of Torishin.
