Oden Omakase include yakitori is best foods at winter
Fantastic meal for people who seek out a great art-style of cooking
Charcoal flavor skewers and service and cost performance are excellent!
I ordered the omakase thought it would be good value first try at the restaurant. However, the value is not there. Appetitizers were nicely lay out but no gourmet feel. All yakitori were chef selection but limited choices. I ended up getting all different part of chicken. The food is good but absolutely low value for what you get. There are many more restaurants offer better value omakase or tasting menu. The service is very attentive and food is cooked very well. But, that it.
Wonderfully gracious and friendly service. Brought back memories of living in Japan. Fantastic food
It was a lovely experience. Really warm service. I definitely will go back to Torishin!
Food was not as good considering the price. Everything was quite salty.
Best yakitori in town and amazing services. The server was so nice and patient. We loved the food so much. I will definitely go back
Amazing thank you very much for this dinner it was delicious
First time seating in mezzanine area. Its more quiet and cozy compared to main or bar area. Ms Nozomi was very well taking care all the details to serve customers including us. She was very proper and excellent service.
Deserving of every Michelin star it’s received every year.
Not a typical dinner here, as my girlfriend announced when she arrived that she wasn't feeling well. Tried to make it through dinner but didn't improve and let the staff know. The chef and staff did a great job packing her food to go and accelerated my omakase without having it feel rushed. I enjoyed my meal -- the food is always great -- and she enjoyed it the next day when she was feeling better! Really appreciated the extra effort from the team to deal with a challenging situation. We'll be back again; this is a longtime favorite of ours.
This place earns its star. Always amazing.
Yakitori Tori Shin has incredible, authentic food. The service was incredible everyone was so kind and helpful. We will definitely be eating there again!
Excellent food and great conversation with the chefs through the meal. I’d love to visit again soon.
For a restaurant that had a Michelin star and is still recommended by the Michelin guide for New York, I found that the food here was mediocre and did not provide an exceptional experience to me. It was simple, under-seasoned for most of the plates, and definitely didn’t “wow” me. I expected far better in terms of flavour and uniqueness. For the majority of the time I was there, I kept thinking that I could have went to any other restaurant that served skewers and they probably would have tasted better. Definitely underwhelming.
The service on the other hand was excellent. The servers explained how the menu worked, provided us with warm towels before and after the meal to clean our hands, constantly filled up our cups of water every few minutes, and made sure that we always had a clean plate in front of us.
Would I recommend this place to a friend? Probably not. For the prices that the restaurant charged and the quality and taste of the food that I was served, I think your money would be better spent elsewhere.
This place is sublime whether or not you have the special skewers.
Be daring, have them!
I was on crutches and they were incredibly accommodating.
I felt the maître d' was not very attentive. She was too busy to say thank you/good night even when we we were leaving until we were out the door. Getting hot sake took very long. I understand you have to heat it but it was unusually long, all 3 times we asked for it. The food was great though and the atmosphere was friendly & energetic without being over powering. Hopefully your experience is better than mine.
Excellent service and delicious food
Very accommodating. Great experience.
Impressive spot for a date. Not loud
A lot of fuss and expense for what is ultimately Asian street food.
Not as good as I hoped for a Michelin place. Appetizers were unimpressive (e.g. squeaky beans in my kakuni). Moreover, the yakitori itself had issues, which was quite disappointing, such some pieces not being seasoned through and tasting like unflavored chicken in the inside. The portions were very small and I left feeling hungry, despite ordering the omakase. Was also not pleased by the additional surcharges along the way such as for the egg yolk sauce and for the creme brulee dessert.
Food was excellent - very tasty. Amazing service and in terms of ambiance i felt like I was right in Tokyo. Perfect for date night, out with friends or family. Our 10 year old son loved it and wanted to come back next night.
impeccable service. commendable quality food.
We ordered Oden omakase was so delicious and valuable because 4kinds oden and 4yakitori skewers and 2vegetables and rice dish amd homemade dessert.
Servers have good knowledge their dish and skewers and very friendly.
We will be back soon!
Second time eating at Yakitori Tori Shin and the food was better second time around.
Great food. Unfortunately they ran out of some things early which is not being prepared. Waiter was difficult to understand and doesn't know his yakitori
Food was fine, but not worth the cost. Most of the skewers in the Omakase set menu were chicken. Would have ordered a la carte if we’d had known.
The actually dining experience is as amazing as the food. You really feel taken care of.
Menu was misleading and the server offered no explanation as to how to order a meal that included other than chicken skewers. One of our party did not eat chicken and he was not helped to put a meal together. No variation from set offerings were possible.
Great to experience the Omakase for the first visit but more value in choosing the ala-carte options for subsequent visits.
Amazing food with unique tastes.
Wow. What a great experience. Service and food just exemplary.
First time visitor here. Loved the interaction with the chef and staff. The food was awesome, but more important, just letting the situation unfold and putting yourself in the hands of the staff. Will definitely go back more than once!
Have wanted to try Yakitori Tori Shin for a while but it's just not my cup of tea. While we had a 9pm reservation, we had to wait a good 20 minutes to be seated. Once seated, there was a very loud and drunk group seated right next to us who basically ruined our meal. Yakitori options are quite limited, and our server would drop off items without a word, so often we weren't 100% sure what was what -- I mean I can obviously tell the difference between a tsukune chicken meatball skewer and mushrooms, but two different types of chicken thigh? Would have been nice if she just took one second to say what she was putting on the table. Wasn't the best experience... will stick to my other yakitori go-tos from now on but happy to cross this off the list.
We had a wonderful time at the delicious, civilized, thoughtful Torishin restaurant this past Monday night. The food and service were impeccable.
We happen to love chicken. If you don't like chicken, this is not the place for you.
