THE FOOD IS AWESOME AND THE SERVICE IS GREAT. I WILL BE BACK SOON.
The owner Andre was overbearing, pushy, tried to up sell us on everything from appetizers all the way to dessert! Like a pesky car salesman, business must be terribly slow because he wanted us to buy everything!! This place is not worth the bill!!!
We finally found what we’ve been looking for. The Tampa Bay Area have some decent Caribbean restaurants but none with great food and a great atmosphere. I love taking my family to nice restaurants and we all love Caribbean cuisine but we can never have the best of both worlds until we discovered Yah Mon. Great food with a great dining experience. We’ve been 3x in one week. You may think it’s overkill but it’s not. There are many more items left on the menu that we can’t wait to taste.
The food here is excellent! They have a unique and delicious menu. The waitstaff is very attentive and kind. They gave us recommendations not only on food and drinks, but also other places go visit while in Tampa. We took their advice and we're not disappointed! I would highly recommend this place to adventurous eaters who like flavor!
Booked reservations 7 am that morning for booth. Drove an hour to get there. When I did arrive Manger refused to seat me at a booth, although all booths were empty. Very small crowded place
Food is overpriced, small portions. Manager had his 3 kids running throughout, chasing each other. Will not return.
Don’t let the location fool you. It was delicious and friendly. I recommend completely.
Outstanding food. Outstanding service. A definite return.
The food was very spicy. I ordered red snapper which came as a small whole fish, deep fried with head, tail and all bones. Hard to eat. The desert took 30 minutes to be served. Owner's car was parked directly in front of the door, occupying the prime parking space in a limited space lot for customers.
Staff was friendly.
First time at this place. It is tucked away on the backside of a strip mall, so not so easiest to find. The place looked nice and the service was good. My partner had a variety platter including the jerk chick, chicken curry and oxtail, while I tried the jerk chicken pasta. There was ample food, but I was a bit surprised how overcooked the pasta was. With each bite it pretty much turned to mush in your mouth, with little texture. Not sure if that is typical of Caribbean food or not. The dish was certainly flavorful, but the texture was much too soft for my taste. Her food looked and tasted great.
Overall, a very good and worth returning to try some of their other dishes.
The food was excellent! I had the oxtail and my wife ordered the curry goat. They both were large portions that filled us up. Both entree’s came with rice and peas, plantain, and a side salad. The meals were piping hot when we received them only about a twenty minute wait for the plates. Server was a nice young lady however she could have been a bit more attentive. My appetizer plate was left on the table for the entire meal. Not that big of a deal but to some it may be. Speaking of appetizers the veggie patty was on point! Overall great place to eat, really nice decor don’t let the parking lot turn you away. We will most definitely be dining at this hidden gem in the near future!! Sorry I was too busy grubbing to take photos.
Love it!!! Incredible food, service couldn’t be better, you’ll love it.
The food was excellent! That sweet bread was amazing! Brown stew chicken, curry goat and oxtail on fire!!! Came for my wife’s birthday and every dollar was well spent.. would definitely recommend this spot
We had a great time at Yah Mon. Great atmosphere. My family felt right at home. The food was perfectly presented and just the right amount of heat on the jerk dishes. Will definitely be back next time we're in Tampa.
Having lived in the Caribbean for over 40 years it is really great to eat good Caribbean food in Tampa. I had curry chicken and my wife had pan fried snapper each dish was excellent the service by Andrea was over the top we recommend this gem to anyone who loves Caribbean food or wants to try some authentic Caribbean cooking
The service and mark were both excellent. Will be returning and telling our friends as well. Walk good!
The food was AMAZING and we received such excellent service from the owner. He made us feel welcomed and made our dining experience very special. He also made some excellent recommendations from food to the drinks. We will definitely be returning there. Well worth it!
This was my first time here. I booked the reservation for our anniversary and the waiter delivered impeccable service to make it an enjoyable night. He was very doting and attentive and even played a special anniversary playlist to set the mood for us. Everything we ordered was very good and authentic; the mac and cheese, jerk chicken, curry chicken and curry goat. The brown stew chicken and ox tail were just OK. As a native NYer I was surprised to see NY prices in Tampa but the portions more than made up for that.
The owners make customers feel like they are home. Best Jamaican food I've had, bar none.
The best meal we had in Tampa! The plantains were outstanding as was the rest of our food.
Best Caribbean food in Tampa! Best Customer Service/Appreciation in Florida!!!!
The food was excellent. The service, unfortunately, was not. Our food was more than 45 minutes getting to the table. Drinks were 20 minutes after placing the order. Our server seemed as if she had no training and this was her first job as a server. To wit: She took my order for an Arnold Palmer. Then returned after 20 minutes. When I asked her where the drink was, she said they were out of Arnold Palmers. (How can you run out of iced tea and lemonade?) The hostess, not the waitress, then brought me an Arnold Palmer. Weird. That said, the oxtail was to die for, as were the spicy chicken dishes. Disappointed that the restaurant had run out of curry goat. If you have plenty of time and service is inconsequential to you as a diner, the food is worth it.
The service and food were great. The ambiance was just right for my wife and I for date night.
It was an overall pleasant time, the vip they offered was quite comfortable and the food was phenomenal. Will go and eat again!
Big Idea but small operation. Long waits but good food. Luckily we were on vacation and waited.
We had reservations for 6:45 and we were seating quickly, but it took them over an hour to bring out our food, including the appetizer order and bread. At the hour and fifteen minutes make, I called out a server and they began to bring the bread out ten minutes later. All of our food was served about an hour and a half after we ordered it and we decided to cancel the salad order. The food was fine, I liked the jerk chicken, but it certainly wasn’t work a wait that long. The staff was friendly, but I think they need to work on managing the restaurant and making sure there is a enough staff working because we were not the only ones with a long wait.
This is my favorite place in the Tampa area. Yah Mon has a great quiet environment and a personal touch on every experience. The owner has greeted us every time I have come to the restaurant and the interaction was not forced. The food is top notch and some of the best Caribbean food i have had anywhere. I recommend this restaurant almost every day.
I was expecting to have a quiet dinner. The restaurant is very small and beautifully decorated. It is not a good fit for large groups. It would be perfect for a couple’s date or small groups. My Sunday evening was spoiled by a large party that included 7 adults and 7 children. They required a lot of the staff’s attention. The restaurant went from being intimate and cozy to being uncomfortably crowded. The food is too expensive if this is to be a family restaurant . My fish dish was over cooked. My husband’s was too salty to eat My son requested white meat chicken and received dark meat. After spending almost $150.00 for 3 dinners, this was not a good value or experience. I do not understand how it has received such high ratings for food. Decor and service are important but so is the food.
Everything was perfect from start to finish!
Great food in a great atmosphere. Highly recommend to anyone who likes Caribbean food. Staff was super friendly!
My sister recommended this place and we just got around to try it out. We really enjoyed the food. It was great. The service was also great. The service was fast. We will be going back again soon.
The food and service was excellent. I would recommend this place to everyone
I was a little skeptical when I pulled into the parking lot but what a surprise on the inside. This place was perfect for a night out with my husband. He was very impressed when we walked through the doors...all white, clean, romantic, perfect lighting and very courteous and professional staff. We had reservations and were seated right away (we were about 10 min early.) The owner waited our table and told us a little about the menu and how everything was organic and cooked fresh when ordered so it could take about 20 min. We ordered two veggie patties as appetizers. They were out in about 5 min. They were insanely flavorful, perfect temperature and the crust and veggies were nice and fresh. My husband ordered a fresh coconut water which came out in an actual coconut sliced at the top with a straw....perfection! For entrees, my husband ordered the curry chicken (large portion) which came with a small salad, small bowl of rice and peas and 2 plantains (which I ate...I couldn't resist!) I (being vegan) ordered the sauteed tofu and vegetables which also came with rice and peas and a side salad (no plantains which would've been a nice addition) but I was so happy with my dish. The flavors are ridiculous! I ended up taking about half of my plate home and so did my husband. It was definitely a large portion which was perfect for the next day. Overall, we had a great experience. The owner was super friendly and talked to us for a few minutes about the business and his wife who's the chef (all hail Mrs. Yah Mon! lol) We can't wait to go back...I need more veggie patties in my life!!!!
Love the Taste of the islands, the jerk chicken and the Coconut Cake! food and service very good !
Finally a place where you dont have to wear board short and flip flop to enjoy Caribbean cuisine. This place is elegant, classy, and the food and service are superb. A great option for a change of pace for business meals or for business travelers. Highly recommended and will return when in the area.
Charming husband and wife run restaurant with amazing food and thoughtful service. I'll definitely be going back and taking friends on my next tampa visit.
Awesome service and amazing food. Authentic island food in a beautiful restaurant. The owners are friendly and pour their hearts into the food. Food with love is so great
Review after at least 4 visits for consistency!
Andre and his staff were outstanding! Food was delicious and they were very kind and accomodating
Great Great Food!! I think rice portions could be bigger but overall great!!!
What a gem that we were fortunate to discover in Tampa! We had a wonderful experience! First we were greeted by the gracious owner/chef who told us they had a family emergency that morning, although had tried to call us prior to our lunch reservation. Despite this she welcomed us into the restaurant and apologized that the food may come out slower. This was not the case, they took excellent care of us, even offering us delicious patties for the slow food delivery, again which was not slow for wonderfully prepared fresh fish. Yah Mon is a Caribbean food experience you won't want to miss!
