Yabba Island Grill Ratings and Reviews
Great overall experience. This fronts directly on 5th so the street view is forever changing. Good food, well presented, varried menu with attentive waiters. There is much competition here as all these attributes are pretty much standard up and down the block. What sets Yabba apart are certain dishes. I won’t bore you here with the details - ask your waiter. They’re brutally honest and pretty accurate. You won’t be disappointed.
We went on a whim during Naples Restaurant Week. Very glad we did. They offered an extensive price fixe menu for the 2 week event. The food was excellent, the portions were large. With the menu, we each had an appetizer, but there would have easily been enough to share. I'd recommend them to a friend and I'd also go back to try more of their menu items and specials.
Over the years, I have taken many people there because I really like the location, the food, the service and the quality. We almost always go for early dining. On December 12 I made reservations for my family for 445 to take part in the early dining. I was shocked when I was not offered an early dining menu. I was told because it was the night of the Christmas parade there was no early dining, but that is not what was conveyed to me when I made the reservations. There was nothing on the website or any where else that stated early dining was not going to be offered on this night. Instead, early dining is advertised as seven days a week. So I was very disappointed in this but we had already been seated so we made the best of it. Service was wonderful and everyone at the restaurant was very accommodating to our table, which had two infants. I will recommend this restaurant again.
We brought friends here for dinner after the tree lighting. I really like the tables inside next to the French doors facing 5th Ave S. The watermelon salad was good. The king crab legs were delicious and just enough but I would rather have them cut in half lengthwise. Less work. My husband said the blackened triple tail and said it was good but not special. One of our friends had the pasta and loved it. Two ladies in our group split the chopped wedge salad and devoured it. We will be back.
Have not been here for a long while. The old island ambiance and food (jerk chicken, etc.) has been replaced with more upscale food and atmosphere. A pleasant change. We took advantage of the restaurant week specials but will return. In spite of it being very busy the food service was prompt and the wait staff excellent. The food was delicious. Especially liked the green bean appetizer and the deserts are wonderful. The moltan chocolate cake with the raspberry gelato (best gelato I've had in Naples) was wonderful.
This is a beautiful restaurant and the service was great. The food however was just not good. Everything seemed bland. We had a party of seven and only one person liked their food. One persons salmon came out undercooked. She sent it back and then it came back burnt. She did not complain but the server advised the manager was not charging for the entree. Hopefully they will hire a better chef soon.
Had a great time on Friday. Happened upon early dining option 50% off entries.Great value! Lobster bisque was delicious - definitely a must try. Tried baked stuffed lobster , swordfish, steamed lobster, and tuna. Our server Gabby was great; friendly and attentive without making us feel rushed. We will definitely come back!
It is a nice, casual place to have dinner. Wonderful salads, good meat, good seafood. The outdoor patio along the Sugden Plaza is one of the nicest outdoor areas to eat in Naples. We were lucky to have the cast of that evening's play performing for about 30 minutes so that was a nice surprise.
We have been at the bar on previous occasions and the bar snacks and drinks were good. This was my first time eating in the restaurant. It was empty and yet service personnel was scarce and rare to find. It took forever to take our order even though most other tables were empty as well as the bar being empty. One of us had the Tomato Basil soup which tasted like a cheap Marinara sauce. Costco sells a fresh Tomato Basil soup which tastes 1000 times better than this one. One of us had a NY Strip Steak (medium) and while the inside was Medium, the outside was burnt crisp black. The vegetable side was ok however the baked potato came dead plain with no further asking if we wanted anything topped such as sour cream, butter, chives, etc. etc.
All in all the food for that price was very disappointing and I can't recommend this. Seeing how poor the service was being empty we can only imagine how much worse it must be when it is full.
Too bad really since there are so many other good options on 5th Avenue.
We have been going to Yabba’s for more than ten years off and on. After a good 3-4 year hiatus we have been a regular for the past couple of years. This last trip was a disaster. We will start with the positive. The bread is great. The same medley of breads and spreads which have been a Yabba tradition. Other than that it was a mess. The place was pretty empty of patrons. That all the wait staff we’re new and being trained should have been a clue. We asked for two tables of 8 only to be ushered to an 8 and a 6 top. We were greated and given menus with drinks following after a bit of wait thereafter. Then there was a 30 minute until we tracked down a waitress to take our orders. When the meals came there were multiple errors from missing items to under cooked to just the wrong order. When approached the waiter/waitress looked at us as though they had no idea what to do. After prodding the manager did come to the table and was at first rather defensive. However he did comp two of the 16 meals and our drinks. Additionally the prices have skyrocketed. All portions are 6.5 oz at about $30-38 per meal which is outrageous for what was being ordered. We live in Chicago and this would be expensive by Chicago standards. Given th dining
options here in Naples you can do a lot better.
First off all, I do not appreciate a server taking orders at a table for six and they stay in one spot. The people far on the other side have to yell at the waiter for them to hear. They should work around a table to take an order. Waiter tried to up sell a steak. Why "is the one I ordered on the menu no good" that they have to say that the next cut is better??? Not a very good experience. Food was ok but not what should be expected. Felt like we were in a sports bar which is not where we wanted to be.
Great food, service and ambiance. Nick and his trainee Ashley were superb. It was our first time back in over 17 years. Our first visit was very underwhelming but we had heard many good things about Yabbas so we decided to give it a try on our 27th wedding anniversary. Everything was fantastic from beginning to end. We certainly wont wait another 17 years to return again.
Thanks for a great anniversary.
Service was TERRIBLE! I️ felt like our server just wanted us in & out as quick as possible even though it wasn’t full. For what we paid...I️ can stay & chat a minute with friends I️ see once a year. The food was ok but not great. Far too expensive...it’s slipping for sure over the years!
