Great food, great service. Sean was great. One of my favorite spots in Cary Town for brunch.
Back to one of our favorites! Brunch this time. My wife had the Belgian Waffle; she said it was excellent! I had the Biscuits and Gravy... wonderful taste! They were busy (obviously), but service overall was a good pace; not too fast or slow. Xtra welcomed us back warmly! You really can't lose coming here!
Arriving Richmond by train in Richmond for the day, we ate a late breakfast at Xtra’s Cafe prior to visiting the nearby museums that are an easy walk from the cafe. Ravi and other staff were delightful and attentive to us and our special needs adult son. The steak and egg breakfast special was delicious as were the roasted potatoes and cheddar grits. Our son thoroughly enjoyed the Belgium waffles and side of bacon. It was the perfect start to a fun day of eating and touring. We will return to the vibrant Carey Street district.
Xtra's is an everyday dining spot. Nothing really fancy, just a warm burger and a cold beer. If you are grabbing dinner on say, a Wednesday, this would be the spot. I do wish their fries were better. When I treat myself to french fries, I like hand-cut fries that have a pronounced potato taste (a la Russet). On the upside, they did cook my hamburger EXACTLY the way I eat them, well-done, with no snobby judgement. I like my red meat med-rare, but my burgers well done.
Variety of menu, reasonably priced, prompt service.
Amazing. As always. Will continue to return frequently.
Excellent food, service and atmosphere! Would defintely eat here again.
The food was good. The interior is nicely set up, but I don’t know why on a Wednesday night it was empty. It was just us. It’s a nice place with decent food and good service. 😎
The tempura fried mushroom appetizer with Alabama sauce was great! Two of us made that a meal and as always the best Dirty martini in town!
This is a lovely , quiet restaurant in Carytown with ample public parking on the same block as the restaurant. The food is good with tasty entrees, delicious fresh salads, and a nice selection of appetizers. Xtras offers a nice happy hour. And, my experience has been positive with service, noise level, and the food.
I made a reservation for a big group to go to Xtras for brunch because it's convenient in Carytown and has a nice patio overlooking the street. The food is underwhelming and I don't know why I've given them two chances on their biscuits now, but they are dry and crumbly. The pancakes and waffles are good, but a friend had a salad with onion peel in it and cheese when she's lactose intolerant and expressly asked for it to be left out. The manager (via the waitress) did reduce the price of her meal, but never came to the table themselves. Regarding the reservation, I tried to call the day before to confirm and the number rang once before beeping and not saying anything. There were no issues with the reservation when we got to the restaurant and a table was already reserved with water glasses ready, which was appreciated. The service overall was very good -- I only wish the same could be said for the food.
Had a couple of friends accompany us this time. Service was polite as usual, but they were much more crowded than what we've seen, so the food was a little slower coming out. But everything was delicious! Even with the busier crown, we were able to carry on a conversation without shouting.
Laid back atmosphere with fantastic menu - definitely 5 star
One of our friends said the fish tacos were the best she ever had. Great place for a before the cabaret meal!
Food was absolutely amazing! The owner, Xtra, actually waited on us and was so friendly. Very classy and hip restaurant perfect for any occasion.
Always a winning meal. Have introduced to several friends. Fernando was a great server. Thankyou once again!
We caught up with friends here over a leisurely meal. It was a Thursday night between Christmas and New Years and not crowded at all. This was good for me because it was quieter, and easier to hear our conversation. The food was good and very affordable, including the wine. Coming from northern Virginia this was a nice treat, to pay a little less and still get good food. I'd go back again.
Always the best Dirty Martini and discovered their new Bailey’s Mousse Parfait. Best dessert by far! Yum!
Have been to other eateries lately due to being out of town, but we always love coming back to "our spot"! Excellent service, consistent quality dishes, great ambiance.
Nice atmosphere. The restaurant is clean and the staff is pole.
The bartender was wonderful and very accommodating.
Friends from NYC loved Xtras now that says something! Great food. Particularly enjoyed the salmon eggs Benedict
Wonderful as always. Tried the tuna appetizer and now am hooked on that. Fondue was my fave but both worth trying. Maybe I will alternate. Birthday group had a great time.
Excellent ambiance & unique dishes! Our favorite "date night" restaurant!
Excellent as always and a beautiful night on the balcony.
Service great, food average, decor is underwhelming and disconnected.
Always yummy specials! We tried the Monte Cristo. Excellent preparation and flavor! I hope they'll keep that one (hint, hint). Service is always impeccable.
Best Go To any day for any reason.
We went as a family of five. All greatly enjoyed their meals, and the overall experience. Cool restaurant, with attentive staff. I had the salmon with sweet mashed potatoes and asparagus— spectacular.
I'm starting to sound like a broken record (smile). This place is simply wonderful. Not too fancy, not too casual. Service is always personalized; we feel so special when we come here. Get the shrimp scampi pita pizza while you can!
Always a consistently pleasant experience! Try the Cajun dry rub wings... excellent!
We really wanted to love this place. The atmosphere was great, super cute restaurant, upstairs and outdoor seating. The food was mediocre at best. Ordered a flatbread pizza, very bland and without favor. The chicken crapes were good, but the crab cakes came out Burned! Pretty disappointing. May have been a bad night, may try again, but will stick with a sandwich!
Xtras is a Carytown gem, fun menu & balcony. Nice staff. Relax and spend some time here.
Excellent as always. Extra's Dirty Martinis are still the best and we could sit outside and enjoy the sights and sounds of Cary St.
Xtra's never disappoints. I had the special - Surf and Turf with a fillet and a crab cake. Both were really good. The meat was perfectly cooked and very tender. The sweet potato fries with the sausage gravy were an unusual combination that worked very well together. Overall, a great meal at very reasonable prices for the value.
So I went to Xtra’s Cafe this past Sunday for Brunch with a group of 8 ladies. The original reservation was for 12 but some didn’t show – in which some restaurants would have had an issue with seating our new updated party size but Xtra’s didn’t make a fuss about it at all. The food was delicious!! The wings/Cajun dry rib are super good – some people in our party had the chicken and waffles – also delicious – I won’t sit here and name every single dish each person had, but I can honestly say, it doesn’t matter what you order – you will not be disappointed! Each dish is definitely a great portion. The drinks are also good! Just everything!! And the icing on the cake, it was the owner who was serving our table! She’s such a sweetheart! Xtra’s is truly a gem! Some people are weary of the whole “Cary Town parking”, but there is the public parking lot right around the corner! I can’t wait to go back!
Love this place, food and apps are awesome. Fun place and goid waitstaff.
Great service every time we go. Great menu and food is always yummy. Great happy hour and drink specials.
This time, we came for brunch. Just outstanding! Food was delicious, but not too overly filling. My wife loved the mimosas! We love this place!
Generally a very comfortable and welcoming place to dine. Great atmospheres
